Emasher Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) I picked it up when it was about the same price on steam over the holidays. Really amazing game. The story isn't worth bothering with, but there's enough to do outside of the story to make up for that. I haven't found much in the way of mods outside of alternate vehicle textures though. McPhee Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 The mods are shite. Was hoping for something worthwhile, but it's all basically character/vehicle skins, rediculously overpowered weapons (1 hit kill, perfect accuracy, instant reload, infinite ammo, no recoil guns) and cheats (god/ghost mode). I was hoping for balanced weapons really, wouldn't mind a larger selection of guns but not if they're going to make combat a bigger cakewalk than it already is. Some texture packs wouldn't have gone amiss either. There's a couple of cloud replacers and a mod that adds all vehicles to the BMD. There's also a mod that's aiming to bring Superman to Panau and other for Ironman. The mods are shite. Daft Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hmm, after all that it still crashes in the menu but it's no big deal. It's not a great game tbh. Even graphics wise I'm not that taken. I'd probably enjoy it more if the suit powers weren't so awkward to switch between.
Wesley Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Daft has his PC ooooon. Add me on Steam, Mackinder. I like to feel I have friends.
Daft Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I'm probably being special utterly failing to find you. Add me. http://steamcommunity.com/id/vicariousvandal
The Lillster Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Just came in here to say that, some people on here have added me to Steam, but I can't add you at the moment because I still need to buy a game. lol
Emasher Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 So Steam's doing a week long sale with, a new title on sale every day of the Week. Today is Batman:AA for 75% off. Also, Portal 2 is available for preorder at 10% off.
Dyson Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks for that Emasher. I'd neglected to look at the front page today and would have missed this deal after specifically waiting for it to go on sale again. Good times! Expect to see Just Cause 2 later this week.
Daft Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Awesome. Just picked up Just Cause 2 for £5 and, because it would just be rude not to, Just Cause for £2. I'm going to get Portal 2 for the PS3, though. Since it comes with the Steam version.
The Bard Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Daft. I demand that you get Company of Heroes.
Daft Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I don't do MMOs. I have an amazingly short attention span.
McPhee Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Just as well it ain't an MMO then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Company_of_Heroes It's a strategy game based in WWII. Probably one of the best PC games ever released TBH. It's from the same people behind Dawn of War, only Company of Heroes is better
Daft Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Haha! It's been a long day. I read it as City of Heroes.
The Lillster Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 CoH is great, but StarCraft 2 is better. That reminds me, we should seriously consider organizing some kind of N-E Starcraft 2 matches. 3v3 matches would be awesome.
Nolan Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 In Daft defense, there was a now canceled Company of Heroes MMO. Apparently it had a pretty good reception in the Beta, but it still got the axe. Probably not an easy task though, making a RTSMMO.
Happenstance Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 You know, I really hate this thread. Everytime its posted in its just a reminder that I cant afford a new PC yet so I can join you all in glorious PC gaming!
The Bard Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 QUIT TROLLING ME DYSON, YOU KNOW THE TRUTH.
Aimless Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 If anyone's interested you can currently buy Civ V for £12.48. They simply send you a Steam activation code, which is somewhat ironic given the game is also on sale using that service but for £5 more.
Emasher Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Civ IV Complete is also on sale at the moment on steam, I think there was someone here considering buying it about a week ago.
Burny Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Midweek Madness on Steam is starting again. Half Life 2 Episode 2 for 1,74€.
Daft Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Sweeeeet. Just picked it up. Been ages since I've played it and I was hoping for a price drop.
Daft Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Ubisoft have AC, R6V2, Far Cry 2 and Call of J all for £10. I wouldn't mind playing AC again and giving FC2 a go but what's the DRM like? I always hear it's awful but is the Steam version the same?
Nolan Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Over on the right under Game Details they list additional DRM. FC2 has SecuROM with a 5 Activation limit, nothing is listed for the others. Ubisofts newer games are worse off though with their always connected to the internet scheme, though I think they've turned that into a verification.
Daft Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Ah, sweet. Didn't realise it listed the DRM. Cheers for that!
