My iTunes doesn't try to convert any of my mp3's. I don't know what you're trying to say here...

It takes about 5 minutes to convert an episode of scrubs, from a dvd, to an iPod playable format...

mine did, it pissed me off to say the least, it did with my mates too.

But my point still stands, ipods are way to overrated.

I just wish people would accept others dont have to go for the (insert product here) in this case the ipod.

I find it very rare for windows people to dive into the ma thread and start dissing people about their choice. Moreso the other way around causing aggro.

Just a honest observation.

I've noticed the same thing.

But the reason some people seem to go for the ipod is because its "cool" or whatever, not because of quality. They just wanna look good.

Thats not why i got one. I liked using iTunes 7, my Creative MP3 payer broke after 10 months, 5 of which it was behaving oddly. I needed more than 8GB so looked at the 30GB ones, got an iPod cos i already had some songs in iTunes and the iPod is small by comparison to Creative's alternatives, haven't had a single problem since beyond not enough space now for my ever expanding library of songs :(

iPods are nice to look at but thats not why they're rated as the best MP3 players by most sites and publications. It's down to the ease of syncing your songs and videos etc to it, the simple navigation on the device, and the excellent sound quality. It's a good all rounder. Looking good and being part of the crowd with a solid device is better than using something that looks horrible for the sake of being different.

Never had with me either, i think it's an option you can turn off so you can have all your songs in whatever format they came in/mp3.

Yeah I was going to say if Stevkov has the about the same amount as I have it would take hours if not days.

Would you really want ALL your video on an MP3 player? Look at archos's portable media centre things.

Well ok, you bought one for a good reason then, good on you. But the reason why their so popular is why I said, it'd down to the cool factor. But when you say all mwebsites etc give it good reviews, thats mostly true, but looking at the user reviews on the same websites the score is usally dramatically lower, usually because of the 1 year warranty and it breaking straight after.

Solution would be paying for the 3 years care on it.

Why should people have pay money for a working product, when infact they are paying for a working up until 1 year product.

Extended warrenties are lucrative and overpriced with most of the profit going to the shops and fat cheese heads of chains.

from law

"product should function reasonably with the intention that they were manufactured for"

i dont call breaking after 1 year reasonable.

Before all of you go and buy Zunes let me tell you a little story on mine...

Well I bought mine December 26th, 2006 for $250. It broke January 23, 2006. (Screen cracked) Called Zune support and I quote "We currently have no repair center ready". Called two months later, when their website said they had a "repair center", and the guy told me they still would not fix my zune.

I might purchase another Zune when 2.0 comes out, just to be different, and because life is easier if I have all MS products. (Except when they break.)

And the Zune software is complete shit. I actually prefer iTunes over it.

The reason I bought an iPod is because I had used iTunes for a while before and much preferred it to Windows Media Player (was never a fan of WinAmp), I decided that I wanted a decent sized MP3 player and so the logical choice would be an iPod since I already had all my music on iTunes. The fact that I was in Hong Kong that summer and could get one (a legit one) for a decent price just sealed the deal.

I had that iPod for 2 1/2 years before it packed in, which considering they apparently all break after a year was pretty good going and as I was used to the whole iPod/iTunes set up I decided to replace it with a 30Gb iPod Video.

I've had a look at the Zune software as well and as Marshmellow said above it is pretty shit, iTunes is far better.

Whats wrong with ipod and itunes?

iPods in my opinion are extremely over priced and I have never liked the design. iTunes is alright but I'm not a huge fan of it... Overall I'm not going for the iPod/iTunes option because I don't wish to spend several hundred pounds on something that I can only use on one program and has a very closed nature.

Zune = £138.99

Zen Vision M = £134.99

Uum.

I Really like the look of Zunes. I may be sounding annoying but please someone tell me if they play .avi, .rmvb, .ogm and whatever else.

It's mainly .avi I want to know.

That's hardly the fairest comparison of prices.. Amazon vs. Zune Specialist website. Take a look here (http://electronics.search.ebay.co.uk/zune_MP3-Players_W0QQfromZR34QQsacatZ73839) for some cheaper Zunes than the Creative price on Amazon. If I bought the Creative from the Creative website it would set me back something like 190 pounds.

iPods are nice to look at...

No they're not.

It's down to the ease of syncing your songs and videos etc to it...

Yet not being able to simply drag and drop via explorer windows...

...the simple navigation on the device...

As stolen from Creative and then being sued for.

...and the excellent sound quality.

Put the same song at the same bit rate on any MP3 player with the same headphones and most wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The MP3 player itself isn't astounding for sound output.

Looking good and being part of the crowd with a solid device is better than using something that looks horrible for the sake of being different.

My aim isn't to look good and be part of a crowd. Jesus, you have a Mac so don't act like you want to fit in anyway. It's in your pocket for the most part so it doesn't matter an awful much.

Sorry if it seems I'm just picking on you; you're simply the one who's going for iPods the most that's all.

EDIT: All this talk of MP3 players has put me off one now. I'm just going to sing to myself when I walk.

Everything is subjective, i like not having to faff about dragging and dropping all my songs to a folder in some window. I like having everything synced without worrying about whether i've got everything i want on there or if i have duplicates, managing 37.5GB of music through drag and drop cannot be a plus point and isn't my idea of fun. iPods aren't very much more expensive than they're rivals. £190 or less for a 30GB iPod Video. Zen vs iPod being a prime comparison of the pretty level pricing. And the styling may not be to your taste but millions upon millions of people like it so . . .

I have a mac because i don't want the amount of problems windows users have-see vista thread et al.

Lol, I do that, and generally get funny looks.

Lol now how will you blend in with the crowd then?

i like not having to faff about dragging and dropping all my songs to a folder in some window.

I wouldnt call drag and drop faffing around, as you would be using the explorer windows which are part of the existing system requiring NO "time wasting" installing ANY additional software ala my Cowon player.

I like having everything synced without worrying about whether i've got everything i want on there or if i have duplicates,

I have duplicates on my 60gb photo atm goodness knows why and it hasnt given a chance to fix it (if it can) i dont know.

managing 37.5GB of music through drag and drop cannot be a plus point and isn't my idea of fun.

I dont know about you but the fun is in listening to the music and not really "faffing" (yes that is the correct usage) around installing software then an updater.

iPods aren't very much more expensive than they're rivals.

Ahh despite this being true it's all about is it worth that much money? Maybe not. Some debate you are paying the premium to join a club and not paying for the actually goods.

Zen vs iPod being a prime comparison of the pretty level pricing.

I am finding with the extra features etc the zune to be that little bit more "cheaper".

I have a mac because i don't want the amount of problems windows users have-see vista thread et al.

Simply because of the small user base vs big user base:

less chance of problems - More chance of problems

less chance of discovering problems - more chance of discovering problems

Considering most pcs are made from frankenstein bits and bobs that people LIKE and not forced upon them by the manufacturer (with a few options) means that compatibility and niggles are guranteed!

Frankily I am suprised that there are not more problems, so more kudos that there isnt.

Also I loved wes' quote i.e. "you cant say "you may aswell join the majority with fear f sticking out" when you are the people who are owning apple macs and ARE in the minority on the flipside"

AND still maintaining this high and mighty "join us or we will stalk you as you conduct you business" attitude.

Cant have your cake and eat it my friends.

The 30 Gig iPod is 40 pounds more expensive than the 30 Gig Zune player. Not to mention the Zune player has more features including Wi-Fi and FM radio.

Aeroscap-whatever, can barely make sense of your post my dear, nor can i be bothered to try and reply to that hodge podge of randomness.

good day.

They made good sense to me.

WMP is decent. I much prefer the search function in WMP as after a search term it gives me the option to also further filter by artist song etc rather than giving me a massive list after the search term.

Edit: *waits for some user experience*
