Dyson Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Half-Life 2, Lost Coast has just been released on Steam. I mean JUST released. A couple of minutes ago. To get LC, just restart steam.
Guest Jordan Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Impressions: Short Insane graphical requirements Very nice commentary HDR for the win All in all GRAPHICAL ORGASM
Bowser.Vs.FWNT Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 It wasn't that great at all and yeah it was way to short for the amount of time people have been waiting for it.
Guest Offerman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 *smashes out of bed* Why was I not informed last night... *looks googly eyed at Jordan* *fires up inferior 0.5Mb ADSL* EDIT - You can tell my heads been in the clouds; I just restarted Steam it seems there has been a major platform revamp. Its looking very very swish, and the interface is a million miles better then before. 88% on Lost Cost.
Guest Offerman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Righty - thats all loaded. Now to fire up the ol' GPU, and turn up the juice on the CPU. What sort of frames where you guys seeing?
Guest Jordan Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 30-60 maxed out, bar the FSAA which is at 2X. Fuuuun.
Guest Offerman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 I'm seeing 30-40. Here are few screenies I just made. Whilst it was short, it shows the dedication Valve have; this took alot of work and alot of manpower just to make this short clip. Alot of resources where needed just for them to publish this when they could have spent time on future projects. So although it is short, it is very impressive - and I canne wait to see HDR used more.

wing Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Way to read his sig. My bad. Anyway have you played it. If so what card have you played LC on.
mario114 Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 my 1.2 gtz 552 ram machine can't cope with it, but it will die trying...
Cube Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Its short but sweet. btw, the graphical requirements are for everything on high. I have a 1.8GHz processor, 512MB ram and a redeon X700 pci express 128MB. Runs fine with everythng on medium (exept reflections and HDR which are on high). Heres some screenies of what its like on my laptop (click to enlarge to 1280 by 800):
dabookerman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 any super hi rez, completely over the top high detail settings screenies?
RoadKill Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 any super hi rez, completely over the top high detail settings screenies? I did that ¬_¬ 1280x1024, every setting including AA and AF and maximum HDR maxed out (6x AA, 16x AF). And only compressed at JPEG with 3 compression (1 being the best, 100 being worst).
Stocka Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Well that was good fun while it lasted, and like Jordan said, it's a Graphical orgasm. Looked better than some 360 titles I've seen footage of.

Guest Offerman Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 What card was this run on and how fast did it run with hdr. 30-40 FPS. I said that also in my post.
Cube Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Not from my comp, the game was played at a constant 60fps. [click for 1600x1200 versions]:
RoadKill Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 If you mofos want even more detail I'll crack open the 21" CRT and render you some screens as high it can go :P (ps: Don't make me do that).
RoadKill Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I hate you. Is the highest it can go in game 1600x1200 anyway?
