You know that infamous screen from NES Zelda where is says that line? Well is that real dialogue from the game or did someone just photoshop it? Cos i've never played it and i'm wondering why the hell Link would be mentioning "errors" in the first place.

Rumor has it, his name is actually "Errol" but it was a bad translation.

It is real dialogue from the game. :D

It's from Zelda II the old guy says it. It was because of bad translation in the NES times that it came out wrong.

Here is an nice picture:

I've heard of that line and always assumed it was a bug in the game. As if the code went something like this:

if (PlayerEntersHouse == true AND CompletedDungeons < 2)

{

Print 'Hello, My name is Bob'

}

else

{

/* This should never happen. Output error message */

Print 'I Am Error'

}

Yes, it is real, and that's a famous line not only in Zelda history, but gaming history as well. For some reason, the things NPC's say in that game are hilarious, probably because the dialogue has all capital letters (i.e. "I AM ERROR." and "DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE." and "BUY SOMETHIN', WILL YA?"). That last line I think refers to a northern American stereotypical accent.

Another thing about Zelda 2:

Link follows women into their houses, closes the door (so player doesn't see) and gains health.

I wonder what they're doing.

Let's not forget I FEEL ASLEEP.

Metal Gear for the win. Asides Zero Wing there are lots of mistranslations like that. "A winner is you!", "Yo gangsta, get ready to gang bang!", "No! Don't come!" (not exactly a bad translation, but CMON!), "Let's Blocking!" and "Spoony Bard".

Urgh I can't see that without thinking of Rachel Aniston shouting it with a weird high pitched lisp thing going on.
