Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Am I the only one that is a bit sick of seeing the same old predictable half-assed shoddy Wii games. I mean the amount of throw away ports and rehashs have really reached satuaration point for me. Their has been virtually nothing good for the Wii that wasn't a game previously or wasn't on another console. When Nintendo revealed the Wii controller back in the day I though we would see a plethora of new games styles and imagination revived in gaming once again, yet my faith in modern developers is once again rocked with their lack of ingenuity. Modern developers are lazy money grabers that will do anything to make a quick buck irrespective of the quality of their games.(The one game that looked like it had some promise is looking that its probable it won't be released *Sadness* ) I really do believe Wii has enormous potential that is for the most part being wasted and once again we have to rely on Nintendo to bring out the imagination and the AAA titles. For me developers need to get their fingers out and notice that gamers aren't gonna take this shit anymore, some of us are fed up of the same old, same old. They need to start taking the Wii seriously.
Rick Dangerous Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 If games developers had an imagination then we wouldn't need the wii cause they could make perfectly interesting games without the wiimote! Good art (yes im calling games and art form!) doesn't necessarily make money and unfortunately businesses need money to run!
Hellfire Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Demuwan bitching? Wow. I partially agree though, but I don't have time to post now.
Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 Demuwan bitching? Wow. I partially agree though, but I don't have time to post now. It doesn't happen often enough I know:heh:
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 In some cases crap is good. From crap comes beautiful flowers. Just wait and see.
mcj metroid Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 haha this is the 50th thread about this but i totally agree with you. I too am pissed off but i think it will get better. Hopefully
4q2 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Most developers are lazy and stick to tried and tested formulas.... I'm sure there are plenty of idea's floating around and on the drawing board but finding someone who is going to take the risk to develop and publish will be the main barrier imho.
mcj metroid Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I think the main problem is we haven't seen much from japanese third parties yet,Nothing from NAMCO(not including bandai),KONAMI,CAPCOM etc. The quality of games is the same as it is for every system, This is only showing how crap western developers really are
Jasper Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Here is your blame: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=161849 They're right...
Tyson Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Demuwan bitching? Wow. I partially agree though, but I don't have time to post now. Hellfire pointing out someones persistant bitching? Well I never.
Caris Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 The reason for this is there is still alot of current gen matarial that Dev's can just port across to shut people up, Just wait till the PS2 dies out and they will have to build ground up games. Will be awsome, mark my words.
mcj metroid Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 yes but the ps2 isn't going to die anytime soon mate. The ps1 lasted years after it should have dies and the ps2 sold much more than that so it will still be going for the next 3 years i think. my guess is that they might swtiching tactics. Create games for wii ground up and maybe then port it to ps2 and psp for a quick buck
DCK Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 True to some extent. The fact that you use Sadness as a counter-example really shows you have a way too romanticised image of the industry though. Learn to differentiate between reality and bullshit, please.
mcj metroid Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 ....i'm confused? Was that directed at me? I didn't mention sadness? also i must apologise for my god awful typing
Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 Here is your blame:http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=161849 They're right... I sorry that doesn't wash with me. I thought Wii development costs were supposed to be signifcantly cheaper than the rest and even PSP. So im sorry that is not a valuable excuse, especially seeing as that article is targeted at 360 and PS3 in which, it is a more acceptable excuse.
Dante Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Mcj Metroid he was talking about Demuwan also cant people just wait a few more months.

The fact that you use Sadness as a counter-example really shows you have a way too romanticised image of the industry though. Learn to differentiate between reality and bullshit, please. Sadness had more potential than all the Madden's, Fifa's and bloody Ubisoft shit. So what the developers had ambition, why should this be criticised! I though Wii was supposed to give developers like this a chance!
mcj metroid Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 ah i see. Well it will be more than a few more months. it's just that is happened with the n64,gamecube and ds. Nintendo should have been more prepared for this
Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 Mcj Metroid he was talking about Demuwan also cant people just wait a few more months. What imaginative titles that aren't Nintendo are coming out in the next few months because I can't see any. Im sure 2008 will fare better but right now...
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Every machine gets half arsed ports at first. The 360 did, the DS did and the Wii is currently in that phase of it's life. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we're in the same position this christmas, there is a problem. Until then, it's a perfectly normal teething process.
Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 ah i see. Well it will be more than a few more months. it's just that is happened with the n64,gamecube and ds. Nintendo should have been more prepared for this You're right, they should have been because for me E3 was too late to start really promoting the Wii because it gives developers that have just coined on very little time to get anything substantial in progress. Every machine gets half arsed ports at first. The 360 did, the DS did and the Wii is currently in that phase of it's life.I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we're in the same position this christmas, there is a problem. Until then, it's a perfectly normal teething process. What you have said is true, but can you see any truely imaginative software comming to the Wii anytime soon. At least with the 360 there was always massive short term promise with the big developers really getting behind it. haha this is the 50th thread about this but i totally agree with you. I too am pissed off but i think it will get better. Hopefully The fact that this hasn't been the first nor will it be the last time people complain about this doesn't bode well for the future.
Emasher Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 thers's been a few threads like these recently and i think that nintendo should release a couple harcore games just to keep the interent of us hardcore gamers
Demuwan Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 thers's been a few threads like these recently and i think that nintendo should release a couple harcore games just to keep the interent of us hardcore gamers This is exactly my point. We always rely on Nintendo every bloody time. For this to work the other devs need to pull thier finger out!
Gizmo Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 The reason they didn't tell anyone until very late about the Wii was because they feared the Sony Copycat© which became the SixAxis.
That Guy Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Every machine gets half arsed ports at first. Until then, it's a perfectly normal teething process. Yeah, agree entirely, not only this, but think for a minute, the GC was a definite 3rd last gen and the Wii was a risk this time round. Now developers are seeing that the console is selling well and are just jumping on board. In a years time we'll see some good games. People are also complaining about lack of killer games, but killer games sell consoles and if the consoles selling then the killer games aren't needed. I know we want them, but if you buy a console early on then you have to put up with it because with a low install base, there's no one to sell these massive games to. If we really had Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros all in the first 6 months, what would we be after next?
