Stealthttd Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Sega have confirmed that NiGHTS is definitely heading to the Wii <a href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=15275">
blender Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I'd be more interested in the original on vc to see what all the fuss is about.
thirtynine. Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I'd be more interested in the original on vc to see what all the fuss is about. It could be. But wouldnt the games be huge?
blender Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It could be.But wouldnt the games be huge? thats a good point well made
gaggle64 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It was only a Saturn game, cut down on the FMV, it'll take less then a couple of minutes to download.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Not a very reliable source though How so? Maxconsole quotes LiveNintendo who quotes Spong. :p
Emasher Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 you need to put [/img] tags around the picture url not the html ones.
Aimless Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 But wouldnt the games be huge? Not really, today's compression technology is a lot better than what '90s offered. I'd imagine there'd be more to a Virtual Console release than ripping the ISO and putting it on a server. Not a very reliable source though I followed it from MaxConsole, to Live Nintendo, and then back to the originator, SPOnG. Interestingly, somewhere along the way it went from SPOnG being able to 'confirm' the game due to its sources, to Nintendo and Sega openly admitting its existence. Conclusion? People are idiots.
blender Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Conclusion? People are idiots. i coud wrtie a book on that. people get especially blinded by high profile passion games like this and zelda
Teppo Holmqvist Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 i coud wrtie a book on that. Yeah, you could write your own biography.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Has anyone on this forum actually ever played NiGHTS? It seems to be more of a myth than anything with gamers.
Shino Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Has anyone on this forum actually ever played NiGHTS? It seems to be more of a myth than anything with gamers. LOL indeed, I don't know anyone that has ever played it.
raven_blade2006 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Has anyone on this forum actually ever played NiGHTS? It seems to be more of a myth than anything with gamers. I havent. Still its a title that has gamers all over the internet wetting themselves anytime they hear rumours of it. It would certainly draw some attention.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It's a cult thing, like Kid Icarus. Nobody is even sure why they would want a NiGHTS or Kid Icarus game on the Wii, but they just do. Nobody even knows where they first heard about these games. It's the power of the internet forum.
Funktion Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 LOL indeed, I don't know anyone that has ever played it. Well I played it, both Nights and Christmas Nights (a bonus demo cd that featured new content). My younger brother has a Sega Saturn (the Saturn/N64/PS generation is the only generation of consoles I "skipped", I was too busy with my PC... :p) and both of them, and we play them even now once in a while. It's a peculiar game, it's very basic and you might even say a little repetitive, but it's strangely appealing. The colorful graphics and scenarios, the ridiculously melodic soundtrack, it somehow gives the game a "dreamlike" feel which makes it a somewhat unique game. It's far from my favorite game of all time, but I would surely buy a sequel/remake of the game. The Wii controller would be great for this game.
Hellfire Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yeah, you could write your own biography. Our minds are in synch.
Mikey Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I remember this game coming out on the Saturn. It never interested me back then, and it doesn't interest me now.

I've seen some vids of it but I can't understand how it works.
Mikey Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I'd be more interested in the original on vc to see what all the fuss is about. Can't be done, the Wii isn't powerful enough. I know that may sound stupid considering the Wii can emulate N64 games, but I read on an emulation forum that Saturn games are very hard to emulate even on PCs because of their set up.
pedrocasilva Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 It's a cult thing, like Kid Icarus. Nobody is even sure why they would want a NiGHTS or Kid Icarus game on the Wii, but they just do. Nobody even knows where they first heard about these games. It's the power of the internet forum.I've played it on my friends houses when I was a kid since Sega was way more popular here in Portugal than Nintendo ever was. I have good memory's of the game, but I don't remember most things like how the gameplay actually felt other than I liked it. I still remember the music though, and downloaded the OST a few days ago, it brings nostalgia. Can't be done, the Wii isn't powerful enough. I know that may sound stupid considering the Wii can emulate N64 games, but I read on an emulation forum that Saturn games are very hard to emulate even on PCs because of their set up.Well... Saturn is hard to emulate because it's a very complex system, it had 2 main CPU's, 2 GPU's, 2 SPU's, etc... And most of these CPU's were custom chips built on purpose for Saturn, so you just know only Sega has the documentation so every emulation attempt has to come from reverse engineering. Basically of course it's difficult to emulate but Sega could do it much better as they own the documentation. High level emulation (emulating every cpu accurately) is not the way to go with saturn obviously as it would be a waste of resources, low level with a good dynarec is a way better aproach. But yeah; should be possible if Sega was willing to have the work. But I'd be surprised if Sega actually was willing to have it.
Funktion Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Why is the controller great for this game? I've seen some vids of it but I can't understand how it works. Imagine the character as a plane (when he is flying, he pretty much behaves like a plane in some arcade flight sims, although with less freedom of movement). With the Wii remote, you could actually control the character as if the Wii remote was a plane, "tilting" it in the needed direction. Maybe they could make something similar to the controls of Super Monkey Ball: BB (although hopefully improved).
pedrocasilva Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 may I point out that maxconsoles sources LiveNintendo as the source? Because LiveNintendo posted it in March 19 and their source is SPong, even Spong didn't say Sonic Team confirmed it. I'd say this is no final confirmation by any means, if we didn't account Spong as one. Infact, I'd suggest a thread merge with the other "NiGHTS rumors" one we have
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I've actually played NiGHTS so i'm really excited about the prospect of a sequel. If it's done right I think it could pull Sega out of this slump they seem to have been stuck in since Skies of Arcadia.
