Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I'd heard bits of this before, but not taken notice until now. I'm completely addicted. (Why the hell can you Embed a video with the song on, but not the actual video? Fail). Audio I always liked that song. Her drawl, or whatever the word is. Some of the songs on her first album are decent too. My mum got it when we were in Florida and she decided we needed to become rednecks.
Ashley Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Right so im poking around the Spotify playlist. Enjoying Metric (Daft I believe), Seaglopur by Sigur Ros (Chairdriver?) because it was used on an advert at work and bugged me what it was, Metanoia by MGMT (Daft?) and going to carry on hopping around. Oh and M.I.A. Boyz (which I happened to listen to just before I opened the playlist) and The Kills. Added two songs to it so far, want to add a The Format one but need to decide which... (although I think they only have Dog Problems). Scratch that, they only have Interventions and Lullabies. Its getting more difficult...
Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I just added Chopsticks and Whip-Smart by the legendary Liz Phair onto it...although they're both from Whip-Smart, because Spotify criminally don't have the indie icon that is her first album, Exile In Guyville.
spenno182 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Just seen The King Blues new album advertised on tv Fair play to them, sounds like they're starting to make it big. The Punk tent at Reading has got busier each time theyve played and they have a couple of great albums. Think they will get huge
Daft Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Right so im poking around the Spotify playlist. Enjoying Metric (Daft I believe)Metanoia by MGMT (Daft?) Yes. No way. I added, M83 - Kim & Jessie (DatA Remix) DJ Shadow - Blood on the Motorway Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better  Sébastien Tellier - La Ritournelle  Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy Daft Punk - Too Long / Stream Machine (Only because it is basically a cover of Bronski Beat) Mint Royale - Singin' In The Rain Cut Copy - Out There on the Ice No Doubt - Don't Speak Kylie Minogue - Confide In Me No Doubt - It's My Life Matt & Kim - Yea Yeah Matt & Kim - Lightspeed Pixies - Hey  Snow Patrol - Set Fire To The Third Bar Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River Digitalism - Pogo (Shinichi 'I Am Awesome' Osawa Remix) Looking back at that, that is quite an amazing little playlist. I've done good. No, I've done fucking good.

I've done good. No, I've done fucking good. I knew you had tried out MGMT and didn't know if you put a more obscure track in there because...I dunno. Maps I have anyway (and is indeed fantastic), Phoenix and Tellier I figured, same with Matt and Kim. JT I maybed because I saw it on your MSN yesterday. Anyway this is just me further avoiding dissertation work. Damn was going to add 'Kill Monsters in the Rain' but they don't have it

I've done good. No, I've done fucking good. Although I disliked the inclusion of Don't Speak over other (better) No Doubt songs that aren't overplayed to death. It's My Life is immense though. :bouncy: I bow to the only Snow Patrol song I consider really good, and the fact you added it. Have you heard any of Kylie Minogue's album, Impossible Princess? Sounds shite, but it's her most experimental one, with a lot of interesting songs on it.
Daft Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Although I disliked the inclusion of Don't Speak over other (better) No Doubt songs that aren't overplayed to death. It's My Life is immense though. :bouncy: I bow to the only Snow Patrol song I consider really good, and the fact you added it. Yeah, agree about No Doubt but that song has a couple memories attached. Yeah, apart from 'You Could Be Happy', I'm not a fan of Snow Patrol. I think I'm going to set up a personal playlist and put the link in my sig. T'would be cool if everyone did this along with the communal one.
Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I think I'm going to set up a personal playlist and put the link in my sig. T'would be cool if everyone did this along with the communal one. Idea alertz! I'll do that too.
Daft Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Idea alertz! I'll do that too. Had to put a space between the ': p' otherwise it looks like this :p . Annoying!!
chairdriver Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I still adore Set The Fire To The Third Bar. One of my favourite songs ever. A fact I love because I usually am indifferent to Snow Patrol.
Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 How does one link to a playlist on Spotify? I've made "Paj's Present Picks". Featuring Joni Mitchell, Brian Eno, The Doors, Shakira, Destiny's Child, Tricky etc.
Daft Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 There is the tag for a reason :p Looks horrendously ugly though. How does one link to a playlist on Spotify? I've made "Paj's Present Picks". Featuring Joni Mitchell, Brian Eno, The Doors, Shakira, Destiny's Child, Tricky etc. Right-click the playlist.
Ashley Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Fine. Link it then (and I would have used yours but it can't seem to find anything... and that version of DVNO on there is...off.
Daft Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Fine. Link it then (and I would have used yours but it can't seem to find anything... and that version of DVNO on there is...off. Too logical. I don't do logic.
Ashley Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Don't worry, I'm aware And a word of warning for the masses. There is an option to 'Copy HTTP Link' but that, oddly enough, doens't work. Use the spotify link. That one does work.
Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for that, Ashley, changed the url in mine now. Does mine work?
Coolness Bears Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Have you heard any of Kylie Minogue's album, Impossible Princess? Sounds shite, but it's her most experimental one, with a lot of interesting songs on it. strangely someone recommended I listen to it yesterday! I did so today, very different. I didn't realise Kylie experimented like this. I've added Paj's and Daft's lists so I can get a Daily Dose of awesome. I've created one myself called Welcome to Spotify Biatch! I've chosen the title as I just liked the line from Wild Child and like the character the type of music I listen to is superficial and cheesy. :p Fitting! The link is in my sig! Add me please! It currently has no songs but I'mma build on that!
Slaggis Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Miley Cyrus' next single will be "Wake Up America". Boo. Why not the brilliant "The Driveway", or even something like "Breakout"/"These Four Walls"? Had "Hovering" been on the album, that would have been a perfect single.

Why not the brilliant "The Driveway", or even something like "Breakout"/"These Four Walls"? Had "Hovering" been on the album, that would have been a perfect single. "we've been playing to you for 3 hours, Now were going to tell you something about the enviroment!!!" *silence* Lame, one of the weakest on the album. It screams save the panda's and there are so much better songs from the album. It'll make people hate her more... No-one wants to here a teenager how they should look after the world. Man half the people don't want to be told about the enviroment issues by anyone!
Paj! Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 It's the worst on a solid album, which isn't too bad, but I agree it's a bit lame. Considering The Driveway could actually gain her some serious recognition as an artist. --- I'm working my way through Siouxsie & The Banshees discography. The Scream is every bit as amazing as it's hyped up to be. Join Hands is a bit harder to grasp... Tori Amos is funny. American Doll Posse is quite a good album. (I've never heard any of her other stuff) Don't ask me why, but I was trawling through posts I originally made here, and this one is pretty cool, considering I became a humongous fan of hers about a month later.
ShavenWolf Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 and that version of DVNO on there is...off. I added that... I didn't realise it sounded so broken before I added it! Serves me right for not checking I guess. *deleted*
somme Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I can't remember everything I added but I did add: Placebo PJ Harvey Alpinestars Sonic Youth Radiohead Hercules and Love Affair
