Fierce_LiNk Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Probably my favourite football game ever. It was one of the first games I owned for my SNES, and I ended up buying the Megadrive version as well. Hardcore! For ages, it bugged me who "soton" was. And then, one day it just came to me. "it's Southampton, you pillock!" Who else has played/owned this fantastic game?
mcj metroid Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 which was the first fifa? I had fifa 94 on the megadrive. was quite good. These were the ea glory days
darksnowman Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 For ages, it bugged me who "soton" was. And then, one day it just came to me. "it's Southampton, you pillock!" Who else has played/owned this fantastic game? Haha thats funny... but I too was perplexed back in the day (albeit briefly) at who Soton was meant to be. With my Snes I got Fifa International Soccer and a Super GameBoy. I know nothing about Fifa 96 but isnt it either that one or the 97 version thats meant to be the best? Its all trivial anyway, cos word has it that ISS Pro Deluxe was the hottest footy game on the Snes. I have it, but unfortunately got it when the N64 and ISS 64 was on the go so I couldnt properly appreciate the 16-bit one.
flameboy Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I just won this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200082247996&rd=1&rd=1 on ebay only paid 40p for it!!! awesome game although it did get better in later installments.
Zechs Merquise Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I remember playing on my mate's megadrive. But I prefered ISS, I had it on the 64 and it was just the best football game to ever grace a console.

Fierce_LiNk Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 which was the first fifa? I had fifa 94 on the megadrive. was quite good. These were the ea glory days I think the first Fifa was called something like Fifa International football/soccer? Not actually sure, but I think I have that on the megadrive, too.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Heh, see. An elephant never forgets! I would so love it if this game appeared on the Virtual Console, but it probably won't happen. It's a great game, though. One thing that bugged me was that in the MegaDrive version of the game, you could have custom teams and players. But, in the SNES version, the modes didn't appear in mine. I think my game was buggered. In the manual, there's one screen which clearly shows that custom teams could be created. Daaaamn. Also, I was fiddling around with the game one day in the options menu, and I managed to get actual commentary. Well...when I say commentary, it's two words. "A penalty!" I must have had the game for a year or two before I figured that out. God, I was such a n00b.
Zechs Merquise Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 it was awesome . Although i preferred Sega Soccer on the Mega Drive. Best footie game ever imo. We used to play massive tournaments, I was never as good as my mates on this, it was one of the few games i would ever be beaten at.
darksnowman Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Fields says true. I play a lot of Pro Evo these days (since the passing on from the N64) and even some Fifa, but nothing has come along to surpass the glory and playability of ISS 98. : peace: For the record, I think Fifa International Soccer was the first one. My reasoning is that theres no year on it lol - anyone know what year it came out?? Germany are the strongest team in it, some guy Klaus or Klos or something up front. I used to love the way you could stand infront of the keeper when he was gonna kick it and if you did it properly you could deflect the ball in the back of the net!

Fierce_LiNk Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 ISS '98 will never be beaten IMO Good game. But..but... Fifa 96! What a game. Ahhh, they don't make games like they used to.
Charlie Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Was this the FIFA where you could curl the ball one way, then back the other way again?
MoogleViper Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Fifa 98 Road to World Cup is by far the best.
