dazzybee Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 How does the online system work with lobby's etc? I love the gamecube version, but didn't want to buy this yet as I have a lot of games to play with and loads of old games I havent finished and really wanted to play through them, but it sounds so good!!! And online.....!!! Going to be strong, play through what I've got, I'm busy with work.......unless someone double dares me then I'll pick it up first thing in the morning!!! PS MCmad, the game isn't out yet! It comes out tomorrow!

Cookyman Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well just got the game and only played the prologue but I like what i see so far!: peace: Will put my friend code on the online board.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Just had a quick blast of this and done a few levels. It certainly seems to have kept the charm from the first game but im really not a fan of the controls. I give the developers credit for mapping the buttons onto the Wiimote and nunchuck but I would have preferred it if the game had the option for a Cube controller ( or does it, havent checked the instructions ) Im not really a graphics whore but the game is quite rough looking. Aslong as the gameplay is there though im not really bothered.
david.dakota Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 My only concern is that the game, according to Mr Jenkins of Teletext fame, is less of a challenge compared to the orginal. However, its now fully purchased and i'm awaiting delivery!
welsh_gamer Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Wasn't to sure on purchasing this, but with the delay of No More Heroes I decided on getting it. No copies at ASDA or Tesco, sold out at Woolworths and WHSmiths and plenty of stock at Game and Gamestation, so it could be good or bad sales wise. Got my copy from Blockbusters for £29.99.
Tales Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Played the campaign for some time as I have some connection trouble. Not bad so far, it's fun causing major damage to everything in my way with battleships. My main complaint is the difficulty of changing units, especially to air units, targeting enemy air units isn't easy either. Overall a decent game, looking forward to play more online battles. Is more fun see full armies clashing together rather than attacking small batallions here and there.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 vs how many players can you play this game online?
Tales Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 One against random people. Haven't tried the friends option yet.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 i cant find any thing about it on the cover nor in the manual... dies this meen Nintendo might expand the amount of players when they think they can handle it? probebly now its 2 or 4 max but the fact that nintendo doesnt gave us a amount of players in the manual might indicate that nintendo can change it to what ever they like to.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 i am stil in doubt about this game. i might buy it only i realy need to know how many players the online i going to be.
ThePigMarcher Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 i cant find any thing about it on the cover nor in the manual... dies this meen Nintendo might expand the amount of players when they think they can handle it? If you mean patching the game to allow for more multi-player options I can't see that happening. Maybe it is something that will happen with BW3 , although if the sales of this are anything to go by then that sequel may never happen , which will be a shame. I am sure that there were rumours of DLC in the form of extra online maps was going to happen (can't find the link) in the US in January if enough people were playing online , which didn't happen and looks unlikely now.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 but still i dont know with how many people you can play now... were the hell is it written what the max is on playing this game online..
Kirbii Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 got but havin connection problems though manage to play to online games and do 20 % of it
DazzeL Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 but still i dont know with how many people you can play now... were the hell is it written what the max is on playing this game online.. It's 1v1 - tbh you wouldn't want it any other way.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 1v1 -_-; than it should be in game and not online only what a load off bull nintendo. i was hoping for a warhawk beater but Nintendo failed me again... bleeeeehhh!
david.dakota Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Arguably, Kuju could have done more with the online. However, 1vs1 is absolutely great fun, as it Co-op. The only minus is.... Voice. Grr.
ThePigMarcher Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I would have to agree that 1v1 online is the best way for this game to work and isn't really a reason to dismiss it. Only real complaints I have : Would have been nice to have some way of matching players of similar ability , as I am getting a bit fed up getting slaughtered by the one-map merchants ie , those players who have tactics on one particular map sussed and play those constantly because they are virtually impossible to beat. No online rankings (other than the medal system) , although it will be ages till I get my first one as I am bloody useless at this. The lack of voice chat is a real problem , I have attempted only one co-op game as a result and that proved to be a disaster and I am unlikely to bother with that mode again. That being said , I am really enjoying this so have no regrets whatsoever , and I have even been inspired to return to the prequel and improve my grades on that too.
david.dakota Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Feel free to add me for online gaming. PM when you have done so, My code is 146 156 038 249. See you on the battlefield!

I agree with a fair share of that. No ranking system was a bad move. Rankings are nice incentives to play and also would eliminate the player matching problem - just match people of similar ranks. This works well for online rts. Only reason it's not so great on MSC is the seasons are only one week long so the ranks never have time to settle. I'm also a bit miffed about the actual "mission" setup of the online. Would have been a lot better if you could just select a map and then also your faction you would like to play as.
dazzybee Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 But ultimately is the online fun? How is the lobby system?
david.dakota Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 If you've played Mario Kart DS, the lobby system is comparable. In your freinds list, you'll see whose busy (playing), online (I assume waiting for a game, or doing anything else that playing) or indeed offline.
