EEVILMURRAY Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Can anyone tell me if Hyrule town has a fucking proper shop? I need some arrows and since I'm at the point where nigh on all bridges are blocked in some way or another so I can't get to Kakariko/Death Mountain. I'm just before that escorting thingy.
Din Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I'm just before that escorting thingy. I've just done that. It was annoying.
EEVILMURRAY Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I gave it a go earlier and the pissing thing kept going round in circles. I assume it's because of that bomb bird making the horse turn so I wanna shot it. As the case may appear to be and I won't get any arrows, I'll either slingshot his ass or take one for the team and gale boomerang to myself.

Yup your right, it is becaus eof that stupid bird bombing attack. The thing went round a few times before I clicked on to what was causing it. Usually at that part the Hog Riders give arrows when you kill them.
The3rdChildren Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Huge spoilers devasting for anyone who hasn't beat the fourth dungeon and viewed the following cutscene. So what's happened here is Ganondorf was banished by the sages to the Twilight where he met Zant and presumably became good pals with the dude, good enough to lend Zant his power to do all sorts of crazy shit. This game is said to take place after Ocarina of Time, and whilst it does certainly feel like the spiritual successor to it the ending of Ocarina is called into question. In Ocarina the sages, with Link's help, banished Ganondorf to the sacred realm where it's presumed he remained for quite some time before escaping for the events of Wind Waker. This game is supposed to somehow fill in the gap between the two, or at least you'd logically think that. But suddenly Ganondorf is being sealed away by these weird light sages and not our beloved Saria, Darunia, Ruto and friends? If we're to believe this version of events then we must adjust the Ocarina ending somewhat to compensate for this and assume that instead of the Sacred Realm, Ganondorf was sent to the Twilight instead. What's more, these all powerful sages aren't even aware Ganondorf holds a piece of the Triforce? It all seems a bit odd. Did his anger at that point awaken the Triforce of Power within him and the sages had no choice at that moment but to seal him away? It's almost like Nintendo have created another standalone Zelda with lots of loose references to Ocarina of Time. As of now I'm not really buying this as the sequel to Ocarina. Then again it could be argued all the Zelda games are standalone since none of these links are usually anything but cannonical. I mean, even the story of Hyrule's origins is slightly different in this game to incorporate the Twilight. Not that it actually matters, it's a fantastic standalone game in it's own right... just a little confusing for people trying to tie it to Ocarina of Time. All aspects of Twilight Princess are superior to Ocarina of Time aside the nostalgia that Ocarina presents - nothing can ever defeat the art of rose-tinting. The storyline is starting to get very interesting now, with even more elements coming into play after the fourth dungeon. In particular the cutscene straight afterwards just left me overwhelmed. I'm pretty much 30 hours into the game now and have been loving every minute of it. I keep trying to stop myself playing because of my lack of component cable but muddy composite or not I can't stay away from a new Zelda. Wow.

My PC doesn't have a card reader otherwise I'd gladly do it. Keep asking dude, someone will be be able to help. And even so, the game is so great why not just start over? I'm strongly considering doing so once the component cable arrives. Depends if the quality increase is worthful.

Well, waiting then. ^-^ Think i should make a thread for my prob or not?

flameboy Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 ok so I know alot of people are really far ahead of me, but just want to post one thing I want to comment on from where I am up to in the game. Which is only the 1st Dungeon... So far I am impressed with just how epic everything feels. I don't know anything about how big the game actually is physically having read nothing at all about it, but just by the way everything is building up you get a real sense of just how big things are gonna be. My final observation is based on the free form nature of the dungeons so far (yes only one). With the forest temple in OOT you went in through a front door, and even though there were several kind of garden sections within it, cos of the way you entered the house and felt like you were actually inside a dungeon. Whilst the same boundries are still present in TP's forest temple it feels much more like you are moving further into the forest, rather than just a building within the forest. I hope this is the case with the other dungeons.

I hope this is the case with the other dungeons. The ones I've played have all been really well intergrated into the landscapes. I still lay awake at night wondering to myself "JUST WHO BUILDS THESE FUCKING TEMPLES?" Who I ask! Who? -- Seriously though, they aren't dungeons. They're locations, the names of which I won't give away due to spoilers. Still, each and every dungeon so far has felt like more than just a series of puzzles, each serves a function in the area, be it a tomb or a mine. I guess the word is organic? They're as organic as a Zelda dungeon can be.
Hellfire Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I just know that the game is really hardcore, you need to think a lot.
Haden Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 What are the games towns like? Ngamer seemed a bit dissapointed. I wanted big towns with lots of personalities and sidequests. I thought majors mask main hub was awesome and windfall island was quite good anything comparable in TP?

I'm "early" in the game, but so far in town I found 2 sidequests. There are also more "villages".
Guest Stefkov Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Look at the floor. .......I hope this isnt as bad as when I was stuck, when you first turned into a wolf and had to escape. If its worse I will break down and cry.

Hellfire Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You cant speak to everyone :S that sounds a bit bad. At least there are sidequests. There are A LOT of people there. Really a lot. It's the price of big cities you lose characterisation and personality in the characters, but in the small villages characters are cool and well characterized.
Drunken_Squirrel Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 The characters are the best part of it for me.

Ah ok fair enough I love the cities and villages for some reason. I think thats why I like majoras mask and enjoyed exploring in wind waker. Is there a kind of exploration feel to TP? Can you like wander about or is it a bit liniear?
