Obviously the solution is for me to stop posting

Ice Hockey? Decent, even if it's not what everyone here is waiting for and that one game per week is still pathetic... Because those games aren't running under emulation. They're just running natively under the 3DS' BC "DS Mode" (just like if you ran a GBA game in the DS/DS Lite's 2nd cartridge slot).

Ironically that's actually one of my least favourite Igavanias For me the Igavania order goes as thus... AOS=DOS>>OOE>>>COTM>>SOTN>>>>POR>>>>>>>>>>>>>HOD -
God that looks bloody awesome! They totally nailed the look and feel! Gameplay looks fun and the writing is true to form (you really can tell that Matt & Trey got their hands dirty with this one!) March...

Then I'm not sure what game you were playing, cause from SOTN onwards the 2D CV games are blatantly inspired by Metroid! They feature the exact same path-finding gameplay structure (explore environment, find and fight bosses & acquire items that enhance your abilities that enable you to pass through road blocks and explore more of the map) and even the same auto mapping system! Each of the SOTN sequels on GBA & DS bring their own twists and innovations to the series but they're all based on that same gameplay structure that was invented by the Metroid series - hence why this sub-genre is colloquially known as the "Metroidvania" genre; these two series are the perennial examples that all other games in that genre follow. Well you did post it in the Nintendo Gaming section Might've gotten more responses if it was in General Gaming... -
Psst. They ARE the Metroid team SPD1 (the team that made Game & Wario and all of the Wario Land/Wario Ware games) is the same team that made all of the 2D Metroids (Super Metroid was programmed by Intelligent Systems though, while SPD1, then known as R&D1, handled all aspects of game design) and they co-developed Metroid Other M alongside Team Ninja. They're a small team with little experience with 3D modelling and programming. That's why they usually either work on small projects or work in collaboration with another development team (usually Intelligent Systems, who were actually an offshoot of R&D 1 to begin with when they were formed back in 1990).

The GB/GBC ran at a much lower resolution than the NES (160 x 144 vs 256 x 240) so they had to zoom in the view in order to fit the sprites onto the display. Both the GBA and even the DS feature screens that were lower resolution than the NES too! It wasn't until the 3DS that Nintendo's handhelds finally had screens that were of a high enough resolution to fit the full NES resolution onto the display (same goes for SNES, N64, PS1, Saturn and Megadrive while I'm at it!)

Aeroporter is underrated. It's a manic little score attack game!
-
Got mine too! (Guess that's why there aren't any 3DS VC games being released this week...)

MOTHER FUCK! America gets Darumeshi Sports Shop/Rusty's Real Deal Baseball and we don't!? SHIBATAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Great stuff for 3DS, fuck all new for Wii U (outside of NES Remix Vol 2) Sounds about normal then Also what the hell happened to those N64 Wii U VC games!? Don't you go thinking that I forgot about them Nintendo!!!

As much as I'd love to see Dreamcast Virtual Console, I'm much more interested in SEGA Saturn Virtual Console! Most of the Dreamcast's best games are available elsewhere already (and often in superior form). The Saturn however has a huge library of classics that cannot be played anywhere else and a large chunk of its best games are very rare and hilariously expensive to aquire! That being said I'd be pissed if they went and announced it today because I literally just bought a bunch of Dreamcast and Saturn stuff (controllers, Saturn multi tap, Saturn Bomberman & Bomberman Fight, Bangai-o, Pen Pen etc) yesterday!

This thing was a total revelation when it came out. I remember being so excited for it; years of having people trip over wires and pulling my consoles out (leading them to come crashing to the floor) finally brought to an end! I remember doing all sorts of range tests and just being astounded at how well it worked! It really felt like the future had arrived! (it still shocks me to think that MS and Sony didn't steal the technology for use in making an equivalent wireless PS2/Xbox controller!) Fast forward to today and it is because of this little puppy (4 of them of course!) that I'm able to have my GCN (well my US Wii really, but it's effectively the same thing!) permanantly hooked up to my living room TV. I would never keep my previous consoles hooked up permanantly because of those damn wires; the GCN continues to laugh at the PS2 and Xbox from beyond the grave -
It's a fairly lengthy one (at least the US one is)

Sakurai's Daily Smash picture is for Valentines Day... But also mentions Nintendo Direct... No announcement of Diddy today means that he'll probably be announced tomorrow... meaning we're unlikely to see Cranky in Smash...
-
Possibly... but it also comes out just after DKCTF launches in Japan... Let's do this kids! You're all too soft these days!
-
It would make it 2-5PM in the US depending on where you are and 6AM in Japan. So... good for the US but nobody else
-
Bastards. They tricked me... It wasn't the US/EU release of DKCTF that they were waiting for, it was the JPN one! Looking forward to the reveal of Cranky Kong in Smash. It shall be GLORIOUS!!! Not the ones I have. They work flawlessly with SSB! Truly wonderful little things!

Those are some sexy custom cases! Might just have to look into them myself... BTW, for anyone looking to re-build their N64 collection, I would HIGHLY recommend these... http://www.ebay.com/itm/160655759083?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Replacement N64 analog sticks. They are built like Gamecube sticks (so they'll NEVER break!) but they feel like fresh official N64 controller sticks. I bought 4 of them for my N64 controllers and never looked back. They are a MUST for any N64 owner! Instructions on how to install them are here (It's a really easy fix - the only hard part is getting the damn controller case open. Once you get it open, it's really easy and simple to replace) They are a total godsend!

Major ones (i.e non game specific or "mini" Nintendo Directs) come once every two months. They could happen at any time within the month though, there's no pattern as to what day or week of the month they appear in (some have come within the first week and some within the last...) That being said, it'll probably come next week; just before DKCTF gets released in the US and EU...
-
And I hear they'll be announcing Viewtiful Joe 3 next week too

#05 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)
Dcubed replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I played this first when it came out on the 360, after I had played through COTM, HOD, AOS and DOS (My first Metroidvania was COTM, which I first played in 2006, and I played the rest in release order) so that may have coloured my perceptions somewhat here... ... but I think that this game is overrated. It's far from being the best Metroidvania game. It's arguably the most ambitious of the series (indeed it also should be given rightful credit as being the origin of the series' shift towards Metroid style path-finding gameplay) and it obviously got the biggest budget of all the Metroidvania games but I just don't think that it's as well designed as the likes of AOS and DOS. The map design is haphazard and not much thought went into its layout (other than making sure that it worked both sides up ) and likewise the game's pacing is all kinds of strange, with lots of areas where nothing interesting resides and where bosses have all kinds of weird difficulty shifts that go both ways (sometimes they're ridiculously easy and then all of a sudden the next one is a total bastard!). There are also some really total BS moments which make nonsense whatsoever, like with the room where you have to have a certain piece of armour to break through spikes and you are given absolutely no clues towards it whatsoever! The shop is also largely useless and tedious to get to when you want to buy something like potions. But that's not to say that it's all bad; it does have a rocking soundtrack! The good bosses are indeed interesting and good (but still not as good as AOS, OOE and DOS' bosses though) and the extra abilities that you find are used in some clever ways that are fun to use (and are not just glorified keys that unlock doors either!) It's a good game and one of the better games of its type, but it is far from the best. AOS, DOS, OOE and even COTM are better than this; featuring more interesting level designs, gameplay systems and bosses. It was a good start to a great subseries, but it's not the epitome of Metroidvania that people make it out to be. -
So sweet FA this week... Not even a VC game? Come on Nintendo! FFS...
