  1. For games of this calibre, TBH I think these prices are a steal (especially if you compare them to eBay prices); but people's perception of software value has been warped tremendously in recent years (and this topic is proof in of itself of that!) It's sad that we live in a world where people would turn their noses up at enhanced versions of games as good as the likes of Golden Sun for the price of a Subway, because they can get a POS game like Angry Birds for £0.69, but that's reality And it's not just smartphones that are the cause of this downwards pressure on pricing (though they were the catalyst), but also things like Steam Sales and bomba price drops at retail within 2 weeks of a game's release etc...
  2. WTF!? UK gets reamed in comparison to everyone else! The games are all still well worth it though. Still way cheaper than their cartridge counterparts and really, who can complain about getting Golden Sun and Advance Wars for just a little over 6 quid? Personally I'm just happy to finally see these classics get a proper re-release for a whole new generation to experience properly (finally! No more risk of picking up a counterfeit cart on eBay!) I really envy those people getting to play these for the first time! Some of the best games ever made right there in that first month! A killer lineup that only a fool would miss out on!
  3. I guess that means that they probably include the PDF versions of all of the original manuals with the VC games then if they're that large (They're up on the JPN website, so they obviously have them all archived from at least GBA onwards) Also that 1 player listing for Advance Wars is obviously a mistake as it's not counting the take-turns multiplayer mode from the original game... Hopefully they're all mistaken listings and they all have their original multiplayer modes in that case... (especially Kirby & the Amazing Mirror; the crazy awesome multiplayer was half the fun in that game!) That's a stonking deal BTW! Hope we get it too...
  4. GOD DAMMIT!!! WHY!? WHY DO THEY CONTINOUSLY REFUSE TO EMULATE THE LINK CABLES!?
  5. Don't suppose that there's any word on whether or not these GBA VC games support multiplayer or not?
  6. Oh yes, well worth playing in their own right. All the COs have very different stats in each game and all the units are balanced differently; making each AW game a very different experience from the last, even if they look very similar on the surface. In particular, Max is a goddamn beast in the original AW. His direct hitting troops get a massive 150% attack boost!!!
  7. Serebii is right here. The GBA games on the Wii U VC have a filter that dulls the colour pallete. It's there because the games were originally designed for a display that originally looked very dark (which is why most GBA games use very bright colour palletes and why most GBA-SNES ports look overly bright in comparison to their original counterparts; they were all designed that way to improve their visibility on that original GBA display). SNES games on the Wii U VC also employ a similar filter, because the original SNES console put out a dull looking picture; which is why the VC games look a bit dull in comparison to a typical PC emulator screenshot. You have to accommodate these original hardware quirks and flaws if you want a properly accurate emulation of these games... Oh and Advance Wars is a hell of a choice for day 1! Miiverse custom map sharing is gonna be AWESOME!!! Though I do hope that they've got more than just the one game lined up for next week...
  8. Yeah, the outlines do make a big difference. The characters are much easier to keep track of with them on (and look much better to boot!) Hope that they're on by default... Also, stealth confirmation that the game is fully in S3D (take THAT Pokemon X&Y!)
  9. The rubber banding in SMK isn't actually as bad as MK64 (now THAT one is complete horse shit! You could use a golden mushroom in 1st place and they'd still catch up right behind you just a few seconds later! - hell you can even get caught by the AI after doing the Wario Stadium glitch where you skip half the track and the AI goes into hyperspeed!) The courses however are much tougher than in most other MK games though and the physics are very unforgiving. Getting hit or bumping into a wall or falling down a hole in 150cc just the once or twice is almost guaranteed failure, it's utterly brutal! Great fun though! You'd be mad to miss out on a classic like this!
  10. TBH, I hope they don't bother trying to secure the Ferrari license. It's not worth it if it means that the game just gets pulled from the eShop eventually when the license expires (just like with Outrun Online Arcade on PS360).
  11. Lots of companies are skipping PAX East this year (Nintendo, Sony, Capcom, EA, SEGA, Deep Silver, Warner Bros and more...) Probably just a matter of it being too close to E3 to be worth bothering with for most Why would Nintendo bother to go out of their way to make new demos of their upcoming Wii U games in time for PAX, rather than just wait for E3? (And what would they even really show for 3DS that isn't gonna be coming out within a month of that time anyway? - it's not like the event isn't gonna be filled to the brim with people streetpassing and playing 3DS games anyway...)
  12. Cuccos you say... Yes please! Ahh, such happy memories of Shadow Battle in FSA!
  13. HOLY SHIT!!! 3 games!? WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THIS BEFORE!? Please let this be the start of a continuously decent schedule, PLEASE!
  14. BOOM! And there it is The actual page isn't up yet, but this greyed out logo was found on the site... Woo!
  15. Nintendo World Report have put up some previews of the upcoming Wii U eShop games that were on display at GDC... The article for Affordable Space Adventures in particular really stands out to me... Some excerpts... Looks great! Really looking forward to this one
  16. My god, he just loves to troll!
  17. I wonder if that means that his gun charges quicker now, since the Brawl rendition would take longer to explode than your opponent would actually be in shield stun for...
  18. Looks like a new Mario VS DK game is coming to the Wii U... It's currently just a tech demo for the Nintendo Web Framework; but considering that they labelled it as the "GDC Version", I reckon it's a sign that it's gonna get an eShop release eventually... It's a pretty impressive tech demo too; considering that it's made entirely with web based tech! Looks very polished (outside of the loading times at least) Nice use of the two screens for different perspectives too The lack of being able to see the entire game maps always annoyed the hell out of me in the DS games!
  19. PS4 hardware held on better than I thought it would. I wonder how much of that is in anticipation of Ground Zeroes...
  20. The issue behind these things is of control and Sony's solution doesn't fix that problem. If you want total immersion like in Star Trek or that sort of thing, you need something like Kinect to go along with it (but have it actually work ) Otherwise you're just playing a normal traditional game with a wide encompassing field of view The headtracking is the only real transformative part of the experience (in terms of pure gameplay mechanics) currently - the rest is just a typical 3D display that happens to be close to your face... Plus the concept itself is just so dorkish. Good luck trying to convince Joe Average to stick this on him and walk around bumping into things like a fool :p It's an inherently anti-social device...
  21. This is a game with a lot of depth that went unappreciated by many. Many who dismiss it because it looks very simple on the surface don't ever get the chance to plumb the depths and discover all the nuances to the controls and the gameplay mechanics (I still remember the joy I felt when I managed to get over 50 points in Wii Sports Tennis' Target Practice mode! ). Anyone who thinks you can play a match and win just by flailing around or flicking your wrist while sitting down, clearly hasn't played against someone competent :p Many people don't even know that you can actually hit a drop shot or a lob in tennis or even don't know how to control the direction of your shot! (Hint: the direction is controlled by the timing of your hit. The later your swing, the further outward your shot flies You can even vary the height of your lob by hitting the ball softer when you upswing!) Even Boxing (probably the weakest of the 5 sports), while somewhat friendly to flailers, does actually allow for nuanced control if you know how to do body blows and uppercuts properly (or even dodge! Lots of people don't even know that you can actually make your Mii move by tilting both the Wiimote and the Nunchuck in the direction that you want to move...) And of course there's all the little hidden touches in there that make it really feel like a Nintendo game (like the way that the crowd reacts when your tennis ball flies towards them, or the fact that you can actually throw your bowling ball backwards, or even into someone else's lane! (And knock down their pins for them! ) Simple to pick up but hard to master. The hallmark of any great game is certainly found in Wii Sports, even if you can't see it on the surface!
  22. So Retro Studios and Intelligent Systems don't make "Nintendo" games then? Gotcha... Not to mention that Nintendo SPD (which is actually Nintendo's oldest development studio, not EAD) actually co-developed the game alongside Monolith Soft anyway...
  23. And yet, Monolith Soft is a 100% owned 1st party studio. Just like Retro Studios or Intelligent Systems... All new staff have to come from somewhere. People aren't just born as a Nintendo developer you know!
  24. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/03/17/castlevania-producer-koji-igarashi-leaves-konami Rather opportune timing, what with him doing a talk about Metroidvania style game design at GDC this week... Time for Translefortress, starring Mighty Simohn Belmondo, developed by Konotmi?
  25. I think that it's impressive in of itself too, but I don't think Namco would agree, considering the hopes they pinned on this title... I hope it's good enough for them, but I get the feeling that they set their expectations much higher than just a 20% increase...
