  1. GUNSTAR HEROES!?!?!?!?!?!? MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!!! Sonic 2 is gonna look really great in S3D as well! (DOSE SPECIAL STAGES!!! DOSE RINGS FLYING IN YOUR FACE!!! )
  2. Plenty of 3rd party titles already available in other regions to go on those systems. And then there's GBA (as well as N64 and DS obviously), where there are still tons of 1st party titles (let alone the massive amount of 3rd party titles that they could release) still to go... Either way, Natsume are due to release 8 GBA VC games starting from June, so I'm probably worrying over nothing right now... I hope :p
  3. I hope so, cause I really don't want to see them start to slow down the rate of releases again... I still have sour memories of how the release schedule for the Wii VC started dying down... Lol, very true! I haven't the time to play everything anyway
  4. That is not a VC game. VC is getting nothing this week... I don't like where this is going... I hope that it's just because there's a lot of other stuff coming out this week...
  5. In most cases, I prefer to see games re-released exactly as they were, warts and all. I just don't like the idea of a game being changed after it has been released originally (unless it is specifically advertised as being something different that isn't intended to replace the original - like with DmC Definitive Edition, Kirby Superstar Ultra or Wind Waker HD for instance - or if they release it exactly as it was with no changes at all outside of improved performance and maybe additional content/features that fit the game it stars in - like Bayonetta Wii U, or Xenoblade 3D). With most of these re-releases, there's almost always something that the people porting these games (be it the original developer or another developer doing the porting in their stead), always seem to can't resist changing. The worst example of this for me are the XBLA ports of Banjo Kazooie, Tooie and Perfect Dark; where 4J Studios made a whole manner of small changes that utterly infuriate me. They're no longer the same games as the ones I love on the N64 and I would always choose to play the original cart versions of these games instead, despite the poor image quality and crappy framerates that come with them. I hate the George Lucas approach to re-releasing things! The ideal scenario for me would be to have the original games just emulated in higher resolution, like on the VC. That way, you know you are getting the exact original experience as it was intended.
  6. The visuals are nothing that the 3DS can't handle. It's obviously just 3DS assets being run in a higher resolution for this trailer, so that's how the game will probably look like - just not as high resolution (but on the actual 3DS screen, it won't look far off really). Capcom did the same thing with the Ace Attorney 5/Grand Ace Attorney trailers. And AA5 ended up looking just like the trailer on the actual console, just in 3DS resolution.
  7. Looks good, but the trailer tells us nothing about how it actually plays...
  8. I do wonder if these packs mean that the disc version will end up loading faster than the digital version... (as the disc + DLC packs will allow for the Wii U to load from USB and Disc at the same time - like what GTA 5 does on 360/PS3) I wonder if they have something in place for the digital version as well...
  9. So... Good, decent then OH GOD!!! What the hell happened tonight!? It all started off so well!! WHY!?
  10. Don't see why the bricks couldn't have NFC chips inside them... Or why they couldn't have some sort of NFC base that reads from a small electrical signal that passes through each brick and keeps a record of what direction it travels as it is built that the NFC base then sends to the Gamepad... Using a camera wouldn't work as well because part of the structure would always be occluded from the camera's sight.
  11. I've been saying for ages that they should do a Lego NFC game! Though it's a real missed opportunity that you can't actually build things with NFC Lego bricks IRL and then have them actually come to life in the game itself... Always thought that would be an amazing use for NFC... Still it's pretty amazing that it encompasses so many different licenses! It's basically like the ultimate TT Lego game. Just a pity that it's nothing more than that really... So much potential with a "build your own" approach to levels and characters...
  12. Yeah, that's what I'm expecting as well. I'm don't think it'll really end up being substantial, but it'll be a neat extra for those who have the Amiibo - pretty much like everything else with them so far (Mario Party 10's Amiibo Party and Smash Bros 4 being the big exceptions, but those are sensible choices because they're needed to save your tokens/fighter AI onto).
  13. And if you wanted to play it more than once? ... yeah...
  14. Personally with MKDS, I go with the Large Screen option. Feels perfectly natural (just like playing MK8!) and I'm surprised at how well the visuals hold up! I expected them to look a lot worse on a big TV! (when playing Off TV though, I go for the Top Screen Focus option) With Wario Ware Touched though, I go for the Vertical option. It's like playing on a jumbo DSi-XL!
  15. I wouldn't be so sure about that... It has been in development for around 2.5 years now. I'm willing to bet that the budget on that is gonna be at least as high the likes as Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3... There's a good reason why it's a full retail priced game...
  16. Yeah, I have no doubt about that. It's the mobile initiative that I'm really worried about though... I know that they've always said that they wanted to use it as a way of promoting their games/consoles/IP and a way of trying to convert mobile users to their consoles (and they've always been consistent about that up until this point in time), but I'm still really very worried about it. We've all seen what mobile has done to every other Japanese developer/publisher... (just look at the latest Level 5 Vision conference! What they're doing to Layton and Fantasy Life is disgusting...) The thought of that happening to Nintendo would basically mean that gaming is virtually at an end for me (outside of independent games and the very very rare retail 3rd party title that isn't an AAA quasi-interactive movie or a microtransaction/skinner box hell). I like to believe that they wouldn't give in to the pressure, but times are very very hard for them right now... That's actually not a bad idea! At least then people who can't get the Amiibos would still have an option at their disposal... (or at least until they get the Amiibo cards out already...) Even though it's still basically on-disc DLC.
  17. All very true. TBH though, I find these times to be more worrisome than exciting though... It feels like the good ol' days are coming to an end... I'm just hoping that Nintendo can hang on for dear life though as the world has changed around them and that they don't give up on what they want to do...
  18. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1025947 AAAAAANNNNDDDD That's another bloody game for May! Hooray for poor release planning!
  19. Oh yeah! Consider me IN for this week! : peace:
  20. I think there are some points to be made for both sides, but I do think that there are some distinctions to be made here that are being lost in this article... Firstly, the way that Nintendo has been approaching DLC in general has been very different to pretty much everyone else. They have always gone out of their way to provide a high level of value with their DLC and that still hasn't changed (pretty much nobody here would argue that you're not getting your money's worth with MK8 or Hyrule Warriors or the DLC packs for any of their retail titles - in fact it often feels like a steal!) In the case of Smash Bros though, I do think that the value on offer here with Mewtwo is being underappreciated though. There is a substantial cost in adding a new character into a fighting game and especially with Smash Bros (given the vast array of interactive stages and characters that they have to do a huge amount of bug testing and QA work on each one; far more than a typical fighting game) but especially in this case because the Wii U and 3DS games are totally different (they're not just two versions of the same game like with other multiplatform fighters - they're effectively making this character from scratch twice over; and with all the balancing and QA work that comes with it). Yet despite that, they still offer it for free for people who've bought both the Wii U and 3DS games... They absolutely didn't have to do that at all (it's an incentive to buy both obviously, but it's still a lot of value to give away like that). As for the Mii costumes? There's nothing really outlandish about the pricing at all really - pretty typical (and they shouldn't really be expected to give them all away for free... Even though they're relatively simple to make, there is still design work that goes into them - not to mention that both Smash 4 games are already bursting with content out of the box anyway) As for Amiibo... There are two sides to this... On one hand, yes at a fundamental level they are basically On-Disc-DLC, but on the other hand, they do have inherent value in of themselves; being physical figures. They also do act as memory cards as well and do perform gameplay related functions (particularly in MARIO Party 10) and that value is not to be ignored. You could say that it is a bit of a money grab, but there is still a large amount of value here (and the figures are high quality too... Well, unless you get a bad one of course! They are hand made, so mistakes do happen!) And then there's their F2P efforts which do stand out as being surprisingly generous... Outside of what The Pokemon Company do (which is more akin to the rest of the industry - but they should be considered apart from Nintendo proper, because they are a seperate entity and Nintendo have just allowed them to do their own thing as they always do... even though it feels like they're damaging the brand in the long run here...). Nintendo's own F2P games are all really very fair and all very consumer friendly (even in the case of Collectable Badge Shop, you're getting items that would otherwise have actual monitory value, because they are 3DS themes that would otherwise be sold on the eShop). So this far I don't take issue with their DLC/F2P/microtransaction efforts. I think they've been very fair and they continue to focus on providing value for fair compensation. The Pokemon Company's (and Genius Sonority's) recent shenanigans on the other hand...
  21. Yup. Which is precisely why I could've seen it as a mobile F2P title. It has such basic gameplay that nothing of value would be lost in the transition to a capacitive touch screen anyway :p Plus I fully expect the F2P trappings to be utterly gross, looking at what TPC did with Pokemon Shuffle. Utterly disgraceful that this is being allowed to happen to the Pokemon brand - crappy spinoff or not...
  22. 2016 is insanely late!!! The 3DS will be getting ready to be replaced by then! (The NX handheld is due to be announced at E3 2016) Will Yo-Kai Watch 2 even get released outside Japan before the NX handheld launches!?
  23. Always seemed like such a missed trick to not let you change the border colour on 3DS GB/GBC titles to have other colour/model GBs as your background... (especially since Game Gear VC titles let you do that) It's extra annoying with DS VC titles on Wii U though because the original fat DS is so ugly! Edit: Nothing this week for VC at all!? Oh come on!!!! I get that last week had a lot, but come on!!! Don't slow down now!!
  24. You sir are a maniac of the highest order! I salute you! : peace: (and also a crazy masochist! No way would I ever want to 101% DK64 again!! ) I own both SM64 and DK64 on the Wii U VC. My TV has 16ms of input lag (1 frame - the same as the Wii U Gamepad) and there is no noticable lag with these games (DK64's 50hz-within-60hz-duplicated-frames issues aside). It's the same thing as when people complained about input lag with Punchout NES on the VC. It's not that the game has any extra input lag associated with it that any other game doesn't, it's just that these are very precise games with snappy controls - meaning that you're more inclined to notice the input lag that your TV gives off than with some other games. To take GTA 4 for example (which has about 133ms of input lag inherent to the game itself IIRC, and that's before your TV's input lag is added on top of that). With that game, you're not going to notice the extra input lag from your TV as much as you would with something like SM64, because the game has very sluggish controls anyway.
  25. If there's noticeable input lag, it's coming from your TV. The Gamepad should have no noticeable input lag though!
