  1. It would be a bargain relative the typical asking price, but it would still be a ripoff because not only is it well above the typical asking price for a PS1 PSN game, but it would also be well above the original RRP when it first came out. Your example is just comical extortion. This however is a reasonable and non-extortionate price that is well below both its original RRP and the average asking price for a 2nd hand copy. Hardly fair to compare retailer deals and discounts VS RRP here... FF10 Collection's original RRP was £29.99 IIRC (each game was also available seperately for £19.99 at launch if I remember right as well - and that's the price you really should be comparing as it's the fairest comparison you can make between the two products on offer. Ala Carte is always more expensive than buying in bundles after all). Not to mention that they're much older games as well (2001/2003 respectively - vs a game that came out only in 2011), which have actually also had budget price releases before when they were added to Sony's Greatest Hits range. I'd hardly say that the FF10 collection is offering sweeping value that blows away what Nintendo are offering here... (and that's not even getting into the value you put into the games themselves either...) Of course to you it would feel steep. I highly doubt you have any real appreciation for quality platform games... To someone who understands the value of a game like this though? Well worth the asking price. There's a good reason why it sells for such a high price on eBay and it's not even because of scarcity (it was a worldwide multi-million seller after all, so it's not even an issue of supply; unlike with the likes of Suikoden, which had a very low print run and only appreciated in value long after its initial release). Oh and for the record, I'd actually say that many PS1 games are heavily undervalued on PSN. Sony made a mistake by setting the initial $6 price when they first started the service and set price expectations too low (hell that's why they introduced the upper tier eventually, because publishers rightly complained about their games being undervalued and low and behold, what games are the highest sellers on the PSN store? It's the more expensive ones like the FF games!) The only fair barometers you can use here are the games' original RRPs and the current asking prices for new (or more likely) 2nd hand copies. In those respects, these prices are well below their original RRPs (we'll have to wait and see how they handle the games that were originally budget releases, like Wii Play, though...) and compared to asking prices elsewhere, generally speaking, the eShop is going to win out almost every time. Therefore, these are generally bargain prices; even if you can't appreciate the games personally or understand why they have the value (and typical asking prices) that they do.
  2. Of course it could and I stand by that. If you want Kirby's Adventure Wii, where is the cheapest place you can get it from? The answer of course is the eShop. It's pointless comparing it to prices of other games or HD remasters of older games (that are actually no longer selling at their original RRP mind you... The FF10 HD Collection wasn't £20 when it first came out...) because they're not the same game as what is on offer here. If there was a cheaper version of Kirby's Adventure Wii available elsewhere, then the eShop price would be a ripoff. Hell I imported the game when it came out originally at full price and thought it was worth every single penny! (It's an amazing game BTW! One of my top 10 Wii games actually if you care to check out the list I made on this very site ) For a game of that calibre? Hell yes it is well worth that price! It's a steal as far as I'm concerned! Games are not just interchangable "things". Just because one is being sold cheaper with a few bells and whistles being added, it doesn't make it worth more than one that is older and untouched...
  3. They won't be £17.99 because Nintendo do tiered pricing for past gen games. Wii games represent the uppermost tier of pricing for that category, so DS games must be lower. Since N64 games are £7.50 on Wii, DS games will be priced between £7.50-£17.99. They'll probably be around £9.99-12.99 for the standard price (games that were originally budget priced like the Brain Training games will probably be cheaper though). That kind of price seems fair to me. Even in the context of DS re-releases on other platforms, like TWEWY on iOS, it's around the same price anyway - not to mention how much cheaper they would be compared to retail copies in general (and being able to avoid the myriad of dodgy counterfeit copies that currently pollute eBay...)
  4. Yeah, I can see them doing another sale somewhere down the line. Same goes for other Wii download games. Probably not any time soon, but later on? Probably, when they're promoting another future game or as part of some wider sale
  5. Well the loading times are better in the digital version at least But not only is that game a rare exception amongst 1st Party Wii titles in terms of going price, but it wouldn't be reasonable to ask them to put it up for less than the standard price because of 2nd hand prices since it's being sold New rather than Used... 2nd hand is always going to be lower than RRP...
  6. Of course I understand the economics behind it. I just think that the demands on here are simply unreasonable. These games have value and they should have an appropriate price tag to match. If the likes of Wii on here had their way, every game on the eShop would be £0.99-£4.99 - regardless of its value! Just because iPhone games are all given out for free and Steam games are stupid cheap, it doesn't mean that everything should be put online for peanuts... It's unreasonable and unsustainable. So many people have just simply lost perspective of value in general...
  7. Well no, it would be a ripoff because it's well above the standard pricing for PS1 games; it would be blatantly taking advantage of its scarcity... Hell you had people moaning that Suikoden 2 was $10 instead of $6 on the PSN! For fuck's sake! Have some fucking perspective! It's a crazy bargain at $10! £17.99 is the standard price for Wii games and Kirby's Adventure Wii is going for the standard price, despite being much more expensive elsewhere. It most certainly IS a bargain! If it's no cheaper elsewhere? Of course it is! It's by far the cheapest way to get the game (and it is a more recently released one too, so of course the standard RRP shouldn't be something stupidly low like £8.99), so yes, it's a bargain. Simple.
  8. I should also say that I'm glad to see that these Wii re-releases don't seem to have slowed down the rate of releases for the VC Was worried that they might end up using it as an excuse to not put out NES/SNES/GBA VC games at a decent rate...
  9. The lowest Buy-it-Now price on eBay for Kirby's Adventure Wii is £32.50... It's a bargain at £17.99.
  10. Awesome week! I've always wanted to try the GBA version of SG'NG! Will buy both VC games and Kirby as well!
  11. I don't know why any of you people are expecting Wii games to be £8.99. The standard price is £17.99 and that'll be the price for most subsequent Wii re-releases (those £8.99 prices were just for the first three introductory games to be added to the eShop - just like they said it would be). I do wonder if they'll do a lower price for those games that were originally budget priced though, like Wii Play or Big Brain Academy Wii... (While we're on that topic, I hope they give us the Wii Sports + Resort combo disc, rather than the seperate games as seperate downloads!) And yes, I am itching for more Wii re-releases right now. I want my digital versions of Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Resident Evil 4 Wii and Punchout Wii already!!
  12. Surprised that I only dropped by 1 place TBH, that last week was disastrous for me... Anyway, to much surprise I am actually gonna be IN this week! I actually have the day off this Thursday! Let's just hope it's a good omen for me... Edit: Oh wait, "Deanie!" was me last week... I had to play using Glen-i's Wii U because he was having connection problems as the host and he has the wrong name for my Mii on his Wii U... (oh boy... Watch my average plummet now :p)
  13. While there's an air of truth in what you're saying about Nintendo having the final say, Serebii is right about it being ok'd by The Pokemon Company themselves rather than Nintendo directly - so it isn't really "Nintendo" allowing this to happen in this case. This also isn't TPC's first foray into F2P either. Pokemon TCG online also uses a similar system, where you can use gems to buy in-game content. Likewise, Denpa Men Free uses a similar system as this game, so it was likely Genius Sonority's decision to implement this system and then TPC Ok'd it, while Nintendo remained hands off as they always do with what TPC do. Still surprised that they didn't really step in here though, cause it's pretty nasty really... It's like a turn based version of PLBattle. Similar mechanics but it plays a bit differently and is generally slower paced.
  14. From what I've seen of the US version, it's rubbish anyway
  15. Genius Sonority really do like making their F2P games brutal... Denpa Men Free is no different in that respect either. Surprised that Nintendo is letting them get away with it...
  16. HOLY SHIZBALLS!!! IWATA ASKS IS BACK!!! http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/interview/ajrj/vol1/ WISE FWOM YOUWRE GWAVE!!! (Eagerly anticipates the English version )
  17. I'm loving how streamlined everything is in this game! Being able to fast travel via the touch screen is great! Really liking the Charge Blade so far, but I still don't get how the hell you're supposed to do the Super AVS mode I really like how they make the village residents matter more now by having them give out quests too So far so great!
  18. Group 2 results... GP1: GP2: GP3: Please excuse me while I go stick my head in the oven...
  19. Woah woah woah! What's this!? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=990302 Streets of Rage 2 3D rated for an Australian release before even getting announced for Japan!? Yes please! MOAR 3D CLASSICS!!! There's hope for Revenge of Death Adder, Gunstar Heroes 3D and Sonic 2/3 3D yet!
  20. I don't really care about most reviews in general, but anything that helps clip Metacritic's wings is A-OK by me! : peace: If this helps curb the tide of developer bonuses being tied to review scores, then this move gets a 10/10! (otherwise it's just an 8.5, which means it's worthless shite :p )
  21. I can see them doing it for New3DS, but I don't actually think that Twilight Princess is a good fit for a handheld at all. The cutscenes are far too long and far too numerous (even OoT was pushing it for me and that is nowhere near as cutscene heavy as TP). The dungeons are also by far the largest in the series and way, way too long to beat in any sort of realistic handheld sitting. The save system is also not particularly handheld friendly as each area is very large and you always get sent back to the start of each one (oh God! imagine trying to get through each massive dungeon when you have only short amounts of time to play!) The side quests are also big time sinks in comparison to the rest of the series and require a lot of time investment (with many of them not really being suitable for short play sessions either). The entire game's pacing is also slow as it is. People complain about things taking too long to get going when playing on a console, for a handheld? It would be utterly glacial! Look at how much they've changed MM in order to make it more palletable for handheld play. Imagine what they'd have to do to make TP playable in bite sized chunks!
  22. Don't forget Majora's Mask 3D and Shantae: & The Pirate's Curse and Kirby Fighters Z and Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe and the SEGA 3D Classics... Hell I can't even keep up with my backlog, let alone the new releases on top of that!
  23. It was some time this month. Since the New3DS launch heralds the end of the old Club Nintendo as we know it (MM3D is the very last game to include stars for the old CN) I reckon it'll probably come out next week :p
  24. Unless they did them via Miiverse and had people upload their exported Gifs to a specific website or Youtube channel... Really though, the ideal solution would've been the ability to upload Flipnotes directly to Miiverse; considering that it is heavily moderated (and run by Hatena!) anyway. At least you can still export them as 3D videos and upload them to Youtube (Oh look! New3DS just so happens to support Youtube 3D! How convenient :p)
  25. Though I know it's impossible since they lost the source code for those games, I'd love to see the Panzer Dragoon series get remakes on Wii U! The whole 360 degree viewpoint gameplay would be awesome with two displays! (TV shows the perspective behind the dragon, while you get a 1st person perspective from the gamepad as the rider ) Actually, with them moving to focusing more on digital, this is actually the kind of thing I would expect to see more of Here's hoping that it speeds up the release of their Saturn and arcade games on the VC, cause good lord! Those prices of those Saturn games! They need VC releases so very very badly!
