  1. The only problem with this would be that the major functionality of Wii would soon be neutralised by lazy ports of sub PS2/GC games. Wii redifines control. Going back will only highlight Wii's deficiencies, ie lack of true nextgen imagery and performance. Wii's control stands alone this gen. The Interface is an integral part to the Wii experience. If more games did the same this would undermine Nintendo's attempt to redine gaming. Wii's control mechanism would then be overshadowed by controls Nintendo attempts to replace. Wii would be overlooked by 3rd party support as it will offer nothing new to gaming just an evolution on what went before. Nothing revolutionary. Dismissing Wimote functionality renders Wii as a slightly more luxurious GC re-imagined for nextgen.
  2. Soon Wii'll all have something to celebrate! Post some of your fav's.....
  3. Stating the above as fact without knowing the architecture merely adds to the rumours & speculation it doesn't help decipher it. If anything it fuels the very thing it attempts to draw a line under. Does a Celeron or for that matter a VIA chip clocked equally get same performance as an Athlon or P4? No they won't. Just look @ how Intel failed with P4 yet have succeeded now with Core Duo to see how difference in architecture can make a significant difference compared to clock speed. Just google athlon to see how much poor information and speculation preceeded the chips release compared to actual facts! Give me architecture details. If I said this was also a dual core 128bit chip and not 32/64 then we'd see who was worried. We don't know so the speculation continues! Soon we'll all know what Nintendo, ATI and IBM have been upto. They say it isn't solely based on what went before. I sincerely hope not!
  4. Never having seen this posted before. It certainly made me go Wow even now! GC circa 2000. 2 demo's:- Wii just needs some dedicated teams to do the games proper justice! I think most 2006 dev teams have a lot to learn about GC/WII!
  5. Word of caution. New owners be aware Freeloader does not work on I think the Platinum and White GC's! Nintendo changed something in bios rendering Freeloader useless. I emailed Datel who said they were aware of problem but wouldn't envisage an update to fix this. That's why I still retain my original GC having bought Smash Football bundle.
  6. Let's just hope Wii isn't region locked like GC. One big problem GC had especially in UK was Nintendo Europe itself! For one, NE blaming importers for it's inability to supply demand or even maintain sufficient output was a sore point having likened importers activities to criminals. Even criminalising import retailers by threatening legal action. This didn't help peoples perception of NE and didn't improve matters. NE made situation in UK even worst by effectively starving us of games for excessive periods. Too many barren periods in between game releases. Our gaming appetite lay unnourished. Some would not eat the fruits of NE's labour having been mal-nourished for so long. Even the the likes of Capcom, Rare, Silicon Knights & Factor5 lost faith & couldn't successfully translate critical acclaim to successful sales. GC owners suffered even further indignation of poor 3rd party support even when 3rd parties like Konami could bother to show up for the party, by suffering further alienation through not getting games like Winning Eleven for European regions! The natural home of Football! No European release of games like these can only further erode confidence in a system. There probably were more Winning Eleven games imported into UK than some EA titles not worth mentioning in the same sentence There are probably more Winning Eleven imports in UK than all of Fifa released for GC combined. And look @ the state of affairs when RE4 was released in Europe. Just another damning consequence of poor logistics. Many retailers having been poorly stocked ran out of copies in 1st couple of weeks! NE failed to quickly resupply the troops! Another failure! While they failed to supply their core business partners. They failed to proactively target the family audiences they now seek who never venture into shops like Game. The likes of Tesco's & Argos have far more capacity and are far more influential. GC outselling PS2 and XBOX @ Argos due to heavy discounts. Who could resist when GC dropped below £80. I think I got 3 games to go with it as well. Bargain! They could've marketed certain games more intelligently using other media like Cinema. A game like RE4 would've gone down a bomb on the big screen with right advertising They could've run trailer of RE4 before Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNvtHgDpW4I&search=re4. I know it's for PS2 but you get the picture. This could've had a postive impression on GC perception and lay to rest the kiddie remarks. Even today a year old game like RE4 should be discounted used to satisfy new gamers. Reggie needs to kick some serious butt over here before Wii's out
  7. Nice find. Only wish they reconsider Wii release. I want more 3rd party FPS games for Ninty's new console! If rumour about Farcry on Wii come true I can only hope Duke follows. More the merrier!
  8. Hell I'd even settle for the original Duke on Wii. On a scale of 1-10. Duke was a 10++ easy. Even now gameplay makes games like Doom3 look like overkill! It'd bring back the fun in FPS destruction!
  9. Maybe he can make an appearance in Smash Brothers: Brawl like Solid Snake.Duke could kick some serious butt! I don't know how far devlopment for the GC version was before cancellelation but here are some screens http://media.cube.ign.com/media/016/016464/imgs_1.html
  10. Considering Take-two's new faith in Nintendo and announcing support for Wii. As posted here http://www.revo-europe.com/news.php?nid=9259 Should we be happy with them churning out mediocre Sports games. Whilst releasing more worthy titles on PS3 or Xbox360 or even the PC. Whilst announcing the above commitment they also appear to be pushing for a long overdue release of Duke Nukem Forever About time to. Pity they cancelled the GC version which was initially announced in 2001 http://uk.cube.ign.com/objects/016/016464.html Now Wii is nearly upon. Should we be content with above Sports statement or should we demand their best FPS games as well. Nintendo have stated how the WiiRemote controls are suited to FPS gameplay. I would love to see this title on a Nintendo console as originally envisaged. This gen many critised GC lack of quality eXclusive FPS games saying games like Geist failed to convince GC's suitablilty. This could be an opportunity Nintendo could use to bring back some hardcore FPS gamers to Wii community. It would also put bury some of the kiddie insults Nintendo consoles always seem to cultivate. If you had a choice of Duke Nukem Forever, Metroid Corruption or Red Steel. Which game would you rather see on Wii? Maybe it's about time Nintendo started winning some real Exclusives back by spending some of that warchest they've been building up. This would be a start!
  11. Well she did give birth to this dickhead! Too bad she didn't make a mistake using a contraceptive. Then again!
  12. I trust you meant they bought a 3rd of Samsung memory manufacturing capacity!
  13. Do you really require an answer. Spare me the embarrassment. I have no
  14. Scratch! Wrong collection.
  15. The Nintendo RGB Scart cable outputs sound to TV just like all the other 3rd party RGB cables. They only differ from common composite cables by outputting a true RGB video signal. There is no difference in sound output. Nintendo's just doesn't have a breakout box. If your new TV has phono output I'd suggest you use this to output sound to your stereo. That's how my setup is configured. PS I'm using Venom RGB cable, this has a breakout box but I don't use it. Hooking up GC this way negates using additional cables. For video use my amp only requires input from the TV. The only exception to this rule is the Digital output from my DVD when viewing Dolby Digital/DTS movies.
  16. I admit this takes some nerve as what I'm about to suggest rely's on trusting vendor. I just came across a site that trades pre-owned games for new. Unfortunately I've never heard of them. But it might be worth a call. 3 pre-owned games there will get you TS3. Even Amazon have new games @ £4.97 sometimes for sale. Spend £15 for free delivery and trade them for above. For pre-owned I'd suggest CEX.co.uk. You can get these for far less. Here's a list http://www.cex.co.uk/search.php?stext=&section=1&pl=5&cat=667&radiobutton_minstock=1&refine=1&sortOn=minofsellprice&PriorOrder= This could cost less than £5 for all 3 games! Making TS3 a bargain! All games must be for the format you're buying for. I obtained my copy of TS3 @ Game by buying secondhand games from likes of Gamestation & Blockbuster. Game were accepting 4 games for all formats @ time. Here is the link for the site I mentioned http://www.playingames.net/acatalog/gamecube.html Price includes postage. Here are the T & C's:- About Us playingames are completely dedicated to your total satisfaction. If you have any suggestions or comments please email us using the link on the store page. 17. I don't know what to say. Times are a changing. Nintendo being proactive! http://next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2225&Itemid=2 http://next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2224&Itemid=2 Let's hope Europe get's same treatment!
  18. http://www.fraggerock.com/index.php/2006/02/08/revolution-booklet-leaked/ Surprised nothing mentioned here. Also here http://boards.revolutionreport.net/index.php?showtopic=4806&st=0
  19. At the moment my perception of Nintendo is that of Disney back in the seventies and eighties. Pixar would be more like Sony before PS domination. Whilst Disney studios kept core business going with mascots like Mickey, Donald et all mostly via TV. Disney over the years failed to appeal to their ageing Mass audience who grew up watching Disney animation in the Cinema. The younger generation @ the time had moved onto toon based animation like those of Hanna Barbera and were now more accustomed to more modern Special FX films. Remember all those poor Live action movies Disney churned out during this period. Just compare Blackhole to Star Wars! Whilst there animation series of yesteryear still holds true even today! Their live action catalog would be considered garbage by anyones standards. Luckily Disney weren't too pig headed in publishing Pixar movies like Toy Story and enbraced the quickly emerging CGI medium rather than shun it! Even if some of their animators shunned CGI animation in the beginning. See Tron reference @ IMDB Looking back now. How ironic! Ninetendo need to do what Disney and Toyota have achieved since there hey day. Reposition themselves for this generation. Disney have strenthened their ties with Pixar, whilst Toyota who known globally as a mass market car manufacturer established Lexus for the luxury car market having repositioned their core business with Rallying and F1 racing.
  20. If Nintendo can capture enough of the T4/MOM/CDUK market they'll do fine this gen. They need to sponsor more shows in those slots! They need to be more proactive around media events. Sponsor Brit's or equivalent! They need to rid themselves of retailers like Game who are a poor excuse for a supposedly independant retailer. They give Nintendo a bad name. Even retailers like Tesco's & Argos do better. Whilst seeking better partners. They could setup countrywide demo booths in cinema's. Imagine playing demo's while you wait to see the latest flicks. Revo's Vitrual capability in these locations could also come in handy as you could download retro games to memory card like you would MP3 in Music shops. Nintendo could quite easily sponsor someone like Odeon or UCI @ Film Premier's getting even more publicity. Forget Warner as I don't think Sony would allow it. They need to advertise their games like Movie trailers. Even lame films have more impact than current Nintendo marketing achievements!
  21. Worth bookmark for UK, French, Japan & US charts http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.p-nintendo.com/charts/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.p-nintendo.com/charts/%26hl%3Den%26hs%3DbGj%26lr%3D%26client%3Dopera%26rls%3Den

  24. I thought you'd like the analogy. Enthusiasm of these fans within online forums show gaming to be a tribal affair. Most can't wait for Next generation consoles to kick off. Before they themselves kick off. The internet arena's already becoming a mess. Literally littered by blogs & spec sheets comparing the 3 teams. Speculating on who will fall 1st. Who will dominate. Forum Trolls throwing their virtual seats everywhere! If it's not GC failure, it's GBA/SP, DS, Micro or Revolution having to dodge tackles from behind whilst opposing fans cry for Nintendo blood! Those that score direct hits can make donations to their desired MS/SONY charity. It's getting like those who denounce Chelsea! It's no surprise most threads descend into a ruck! It's virtual hooliganism
  25. Good post! As stated above. You wouldn't get too many true football supporters switching from say a club like Newcastle United to Sunderland AFC because one team was successful in Permier League whilst the other got relegated to Division 1. It just wouldn't happen. It would be like changing one's faith! How many people do that in their lifetime. Not many! Many would rather kill people than accept another view that contradicts there own. True loyal fans take the rough with the smooth and get concerned when decisions by those in authority fail to provide results! Choosing a console can be likened to affiliating oneself to a tribe. Just imagine the furore if Liverpool & Everton were to merge or to be more subversive Celtic & Rangers! Both scenario's are unimaginable. Who'd remain loyal to anyone doing that! Consoles are just as tribal as football. Just look @ the state some threads get in when there is difference of opinion. Unlike football, gamers influence the results more so than those players involved in entertaining us by investing money on games directly. Sales are the fruits of a successful campaign. We are investing more than just loyalty when we invest in our console of choice. We invest a good part of our income towards our hobby. For your team to succeed they need to score to achieve positive results. Nintendo have been missing quite a few goals recently. You bet loyal fans are getting concerned. They want some clarity that all is ok and things will look more positive with the changes being implimented. Increased sales are the aspiration for any successful company. There not just here to entertain us they're running a business. Just look @ state fans got into when Manchester United ignored fans in favour of Large shareholders. It wasn't the results on the pitch that counted It was the value of United's stock. The business! This generation you'll be looking to invest over £200 for a console another £40 for your games! How many people invested in Sega Dreamcast? Let alone other failures like Atari Jaguar/Lynx, Laserdisc, CDI, Betamax VCR, Minidisc, DAT recorders only to be shafted by the same companies they invested in. If they'd done a little research before investing from the start many may have chosen a different path! Nintendo said they would not support HDTV. How many fanboys have questioned this here and elsewhere as an acceptance of failure in comparison to the other 2 warring factions. Even before seeing any specification for Revolution. Now look @ MS, Sony & fanboys squabble over Blue ray & HDDVD! :lmao: Fanatics can be found in all camps even the main protaganists! Our daily lives are too boring already! Why shouldn't we speculate on something we may be able to influence?
