  1. Ok, so currently we're in season 30 so our format has changed from a league system of 3 divisions of 10, to a champions league format where we have a cup at the end of the season. Next season will be back to normal so it will be one full season of matches (usually about 2 months or less) and afterwards we normally arrange a friendly cup which doesn't count as part of the season. First thing to do is to join the league using this link: http://www.xperteleven.com/?lid=120161 Create a new team and I'll approve it, then you can start building your team. Once you have your team I'll post again about how you should think about development. The current season will end on the 13th of April so that's plenty of time for you to get started. There's usually an automated match against the system so you can see how they work. At it's most basic it's a rock-paper-scissors contest against your opponent but you soon learn it's much deeper than that :p With regards to team building, there is an important rule to remember for matches. Average age affects your team's performance. When you select your line up, it will show you the average age of your team for each position and overall. You want it to be between 25-30 for the best performance. Anything below or above that will result in a decrease in performance (relative to how far below or above you are). So you want a good mix of older and younger players in each position. The average line to follow is age 18, skill 4. An 18-5 player is above average but you can still find them cheap in the transfer market. So the youths you bring in should follow that line or go beyond it. You should try to keep as many of your original team as possible as you won't have as much money. If you have some 26-8s, you can use them to develop your youths as they'll push the average age up... possibly getting ahead of things here anyway. Sorry for this messy ramble of a post. If you create a team so you can see the layout of the squad and tactics pages, it'll make a little more sense. Once you have your team I will do an actual beginner's post for you which will hopefully be a bit tidier and easier to follow!
  2. if you register a team you can join the friendly cup and get some practise. I finish work at 9 so I'll make a decent beginner's post later for you :p
  3. Spotlight The spotlight last round was for the match of Atlético Aqui1a vs Kippen FC. Players were to predict the outcome and how many freekicks would be taken in the game. The correct result was 3-0 and 2 freekicks. Aqui1a got the score spot on to appear on the board! Standings Hadens Legends: 2 Bob: 1 Russian Revolution: 1 Atlético Aqui1a: 1 Bonus round! The spotlight for Friday's game is on the managers! Anyone who earns 5 stars for tactics on Friday will earn a spotlight point.
  4. Thanks to @Cube and @Fierce_LiNk for taking part, your teams will be inactivated at the end of the season. It's a shame to lose teams but it's better to have a league full of active teams that want to be here. You've both been a significant part of xpert eleven for the time you've been here and we're sorry to see you go!
  5. That's no problem Cube, I'll inactivate your team at the end of this season unless you change your mind :p So that puts us at 26 which is a very awkward number but if we recruit one more team we can do 9-9-9.
  6. Yeah there will be a friendly cup for the teams that don't qualify... I'd like to hear from @Fierce_LiNk, @Cube and @MadDog as to whether they're going to continue with their teams or not, I hope they do! We're only losing Blade/sheffield blades to inactivity so if no other teams quit we will have enough to do 9-9-9 straight away. Or we could stick with 7-7-7-7 and recruit one more... or to return to 10-10-10 we'd need 3 more teams. I'd like to hear people's thoughts. Good game against DuD today. We stood strong but couldn't get a goal of our own to make it 1-1.
  7. I absolutely loved this game at the time. Haven't played it in years now though... the best thing about this game is that it introduced Wario which meant we got a fantastic WarioLand game soon after!

  9. Oh don't include me in that race, I'm only a victim of circumstance :p I won't be 1st for long
  10. My academy has been on 5 stars since it was possible to add funds to it (and build up to 5) :p this is the best run I've had on decent youths though. Obviously I've had some shit come through too but this has been the best period for almost back-to-back above average talent!
  11. Very well made ReZ, gave me a good laugh
  12. Release a console version and handheld version like smash bros is doing. Job done.
  13. I'm pretty sure that homeless man still got $1000 out of it though
  14. I'll believe it when it's in the shops :p
  15. Just got an 18-6 defender through with hard trainer and quicker than most... I wish it was viable to keep him but I'm going to have to sell this late in the season (and he came through on 1dv and 3avg form). He's estimated at 7.9m
  16. I think it's a shame the mafia were quite easy to deduce. Jonnas got very lucky with Jimbob and after that it was basically whoever had been least vocal. Cube and mr-paul were fairly easy to sniff out as everyone else was being quite proactive in the thread. I thought it was a fantastic game though and very refreshing. I'd like to see a full list of powers used as I'm sure there are some completely new ones in there.
  17. It's kind of morbid how that article is written as a complete joke but the man was apparently seriously harmed... But this line did still make me laugh: "The man declined to mention whether he collected any rupees following the incident"
  18. Tried to target mr-paul but ended up targeting myself, just a warning for anyone who might try targeting him this turn
