  1. This is a massive release and one with a lot of pulling power. Nintendo are marketing the hell out of it like they should be. I understand people don't want to be spoiled but Nintendo are doing this the right way at least. People say they don't market their products but when they do you complain that it's too much. They can't win.
  2. I do see your point and mostly agree but how many of us go to church at Christmas?
  3. Jimbob Marley!
  4. That would be absolutely fantastic and I'd really love that to happen.
  5. I cared more about the relationship with "main character" and his dad/Cranston more than "main character" and his own family. Not sure why they decided to do it this way when they had someone with the pulling power of Brian Cranston...
  6. Are people saying it takes too much power to show a different screen on the gamepad to the TV? I thought there were games that did this though? I'm certain Nintendoland does it for some games.
  7. I'd rather have a map on the gamepad than a pointless split screen. Seems like a glaring omission on Nintendo's part if this is true. There's absolutely no need for the gamepad to have split screen as only one person will ever be using it. Very strange decision imo. It isn't a huge issue as we've always had to do split screen multiplayer but it does seem like a waste of the gamepad's potential. Just a shame really. Oh good
  8. Holy shit it's Brian Mcoy! Welcome back dude! We've just started a new season which won't end until the 29th of June... but if you want to create a team you can do so any time between now and then. Might be worth starting it up now so you get a sponsor bonus each week actually. It'd be nice to get back to 30 teams again so there are at least 2 spots we need to fill for next season... get recruiting, lads
  9. Quarter Point Round One Games played this round: Gibbs Probies 1-3 Recall United LiVeRpOoL 0-3 AFC Dedede Lords of Hydra 4-0 The Sixty-Fourthers Madpool 8-0 Spurs The new teams take a kicking in the first round of season 31 with each of them losing their games! I’m not sure if any amount of preparation could’ve softened the 8-0 blow dealt to Spurs by Madpool but hopefully they can roll with the punches and bounce back for next round. Despite that astounding win for Madpool, I think Lords of Hydra will be most pleased at the results this round as they demolished The Sixty-Fourthers 4-0. This is a great start to the season for Hydra who are only in their 3rd season and suffered a fair bit in a tough group in last season’s champions league. Round Two Games played this round: Bob 5-4 Madpool Spurs 1-2 Recall United Lords of Hydra 3-1 LiVeRpOoL AFC Dedede 4-0 Gibbs Probies A closer game for Spurs this round but they still unfortunately lost out to Recall United although they put up a decent fight. The closest games for the new teams will be those they play against each other and it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top. Bob come out of the shadows this round to remind Madpool that they aren’t the only big fish in a small pond and best them 5-4! It was a high-scoring game for both teams but bob were on top for the majority of it. If Madpool were taking this season for granted, this result will have changed their outlook for sure! Round Three Games played this round: Gibbs Probies 0-4 Lords of Hydra LiVeRpOoL 1-1 The Sixty-Fourthers AFC Dedede 6-0 Spurs Recall United 0-6 bob It’s Madpool’s turn to sit out this round which allows bob to bask in the spotlight, easily winning 6-0 away from home against Recall! It was a good result for LiVeRpOol too this round as they managed a draw against veteran team, The Sixty-Fourthers. It may not look like much to celebrate but this is the first point earned for any of the new teams so far and it was so close to being 3 points if not for a disallowed goal in the 22nd minute! Lords of Hydra and AFC Dedede are both looking like tough teams to beat as both teams enjoy their third win in a row. Round Four Games played this round: Bob 1-0 AFC Dedede Spurs 0-5 Lords of Hydra The Sixty-Fourthers 3-0 Gibbs Probies Recall United 0-7 Madpool Bob have a close call this round but manage to break AFC Dedede’s winning streak with a 1-0 win. Strangely it’s bob that have come away disappointed at only scoring one goal and AFC Dedede are pleased at keeping their opponents down to only three chances – a rare achievement when it comes to playing bob! After their disappointment last round, The Sixty-Fourthers took no chances against Gibbs Probies this round and make sure to come away with three points as they shut out their opponents to win 3-0. Madpool were clearly well rested after last round’s break and poor Recall United didn’t know what hit them! Not only did Madpool win 7-0 away from home but they completely shut out Recall from even making a single chance! Lords of Hydra and bob are now the only teams to have won all of their games so far! @Esequiel Alliances Intergalactico Stars, Kippen FC, Madpool: 20 Winston Garden Lions, Fedex United, Lords of Hydra: 19 Eights United, The Familia FC, bob: 17 Silverdale Salmon, Russian Revolution, Spurs: 16 Lylat Wanderers, Rossers Rovers, AFC Dedede: 15 AC Elites, Hadens Legends, Recall United: 14 The Roger Federer Crew, Coloccini FC, The Sixty-Fourthers: 13 DuDs Baggies, Atlético Aqui1a, LiVeRpOoL: 12 Yellow Submarine, Leeds M.O.T, Gibbs Probies: 9 Spotlight The last spotlight was on the game between Kippen FC and Russian Revolution. Players were to predict the outcome and the percentage of possession for each team. The actual result was 0-0 to Kippen FC with 55-45% possession. The closest guess was Nikos9 who was the only person to predict a draw! Standings: Atlético Aqui1a: 1 Intergalactico Stars: 1 Next week the spotlight will be on Tuesday's game between Gibbs Probies and Spurs! Please predict the outcome and the defensive ratings of each team!
  10. Nice bit of free adverstising for Nintendo
  11. You got Murried! Well done
  12. Serebii, I'd like to ask if you think you'd be arguing this point if Nintendo hadn't decided to restrict their online services in this way? There's a difference between understanding a company's decisions (or at least thinking you do) and agreeing with them. It really seems like you blindly defend every single decision they make. If Nintendo opened the doors and allowed full messaging and full voice chat etc, would you be arguing for them to think of the children? Would you *gasp* disagree with Nintendo in that case? I really do not think you would.
  13. When you say relatively simple... it's not more simple than inviting from the actual game you're playing is it. Relative to writing a letter or visiting someone in person to tell them when and what to play, it's simple. Relative to inviting and notifying in game, it's not simple at all. This is such a backwards way of doing online and people need to recognise that. What would you prefer? To be able to stay in-game and message your friends or to have to come away from the game for 5 minutes while you arrange another set of courses with your friends on social media? What if you don't have a pc in your room? You'll have to arrange everything by phone or text. Yes it's not that difficult but it's taking you out of the game. Think of playing GTA any other online game on another system, you have an easily accessible friends list and you can message and invite your friends. You have party chat ffs. It's one thing to put up with Nintendo's backwards online service but it's another to actually defend it. It is not the right way to go, it's not at all progressive and it's something they seriously need to redress. I'm not trying to have a go at you but you can't seriously be saying Nintendo's method is better?
  14. Alliances Winston Garden Lions, Fedex United, Lords of Hydra: 19 Intergalactico Stars, Kippen FC, Madpool: 19 Eights United, The Familia FC, bob: 16 Lylat Wanderers, Rossers Rovers, AFC Dedede: 15 AC Elites, Hadens Legends, Recall United: 15 The Roger Federer Crew, Coloccini FC, The Sixty-Fourthers: 14 Silverdale Salmon, Russian Revolution, Spurs: 13 DuDs Baggies, Atlético Aqui1a, LiVeRpOoL: 12 Yellow Submarine, Leeds M.O.T, Gibbs Probies: 12 Spotlight The last spotlight was on the game between Silverdale Salmon and Eights United. Players were to predict the outcome of the match and how many players with golden hearts will be playing in the match (starting line-ups only). The actual result was 2-0 to Eights with 14 gold hearts. Aqui1a was closest with his guess of 3-0 and 11. Standings: Atlético Aqui1a: 1 This week the spotlight is on Friday's match in the middle league between Kippen FC and Russian Revolution! Please predict the outcome and the percentage of possession for each team.
  15. There's not much call for new players in the top division as each team has invested in their current stock of players and want to raise them until retirement. You don't survive in the elite league by purchasing new players every season. The best way to maintain a strong team is to have the same players for as long as possible and raise them each season. This way they'll have excellent team compatibility ratings, gold hearts and high skill. Sometimes a decent youth will come through and they can be trained up to replace someone who may be retiring. My money mostly goes on form training, youth academy and win bonuses (although I don't expect to be paying out much this season!)
  16. @Goafer #FridgeSelfie
  17. Caboose was absolutely not going to raise this season and he was only just on the curve as a 26-12. Every season after he would be in diminishing returns so it was just the best time to sell him. I got a keen 7.5mil which brought my funds right back up after the 11m (I think it was that?) purchase of Davison. Also I do not like having a goalkeeper with 0 special qualities and Davison has them coming out of his ears! He has training cone and leadership hidden away definitely the right choice imo Sorry for lack of updates, I've been away for a few days. I'll be making all the posts on Wednesday probably - that's lower league reports, alliances and spotlight!
  18. I didn't want subtle anything, I wanted gameplay-centric reasons for touch screen and motion control
  19. The only games worth playing on the Wii U are Nintendo's own. This is why people would rather see them go third party than have their next console be a copy of what Microsoft and Sony are doing. We all love to play games here and most of us would say that Nintendo consistently make the best games. The same cannot be said for their hardware. Yes they've made some fantastic consoles but they've also made mistakes (virtual boy comes to mind). Nintendo have a brilliant attitude of wanting to innovate the market but it comes at a great risk of failure. It paid off big time with the Wii and now motion control is a big part of the industry. The Wii U (at least in my opinion) is not bringing any/enough innovation to the table to warrant its own existence. The tablet is completely underused even by Nintendo themselves. The Wii U is nearly 2 years old and we've not seen any stand-out games that use the gamepad. At this stage with the Wii we had a hell of a lot more software and most games used the wii remote in a significant way. Nintendo released Link's Crossbow Training specifically because of the Wii Remote. They delayed Twilight Princess to add motion controls to it. What games do they have that are completely focussed around the gamepad? The Wii changed Zelda, it changed MarioKart, it changed Mario, it changed Metroid, it changed gaming. The Wii U has done nothing of the sort. This is why people are calling out for Nintendo to be more like Sony and Microsoft with their consoles. There's no excuse to be less powerful, to have fewer third party games, to shun online. Who here is impressed at how great MarioKart looks? Who jizzed in their pants at the Zelda tech demo? These are graphics that could've been done years ago if Nintendo would just make a more powerful console. The problem we face is that Nintendo put all of their efforts into gimmicks that may or may not take off. The problem I have is that it feels like the gamepad is a gimmick not even Nintendo know what to do with. Without a significant hook to the console, all that's left to contribute to gamplay is graphics and power which the Wii U lacks compared to the other consoles. Personally I will continue to purchase Nintendo consoles as long as they continue to make quality games although it's frustrating to see them turning their backs on the likes of F-Zero and Starfox as well as other franchises. However, I would love to not have to purchase another console or maintain a high-spec PC to play decent third party software such as Left 4 Dead, Portal, Dark Souls, Tomb Raider, Thief and countless others. If I were able to play Nintendo games on another console, it would eliminate that need for another console and while the Wii U isn't offering anything for gaming like the Wii did, it's hard to remember why we stick with the company. We could justify it with the Wii as we had motion controls. Nintendo were doing something different and it was bringing great games to the table while keeping their core franchises fresh. The Wii U is not doing that.
  20. My brother's friend is friends with Joss Whedon :awesome: there has to be some way for us to cash in on this!
  21. Every alliance is a different colour... :p
  22. Alliances Everyone has been randomly assigned to an alliance. You may name your alliance if you wish. Your team's position in the league corresponds to points. If you're in 9th place you have 1 point and if you're in 1st place you have 9 points. The combined total of the points of each team in your alliances gives you your score. At the end of the season, the alliance with the most points will go into the lottery for free VIP. DuDs Baggies, Atlético Aqui1a, LiVeRpOoL: 19 Lylat Wanderers, Rossers Rovers, AFC Dedede: 18 Intergalactico Stars, Kippen FC, Madpool: 17 AC Elites, Hadens Legends, Recall United: 17 Eights United, The Familia FC, bob: 15 The Roger Federer Crew, Coloccini FC, The Sixty-Fourthers: 14 Winston Garden Lions, Fedex United, Lords of Hydra: 13 Silverdale Salmon, Russian Revolution, Spurs: 11 Yellow Submarine, Leeds M.O.T, Gibbs Probies: 11 Spotlight The spotlight competition will highlight one game for players to guess the outcome and one of the match stats. The winner and runner up of the spotlight competition will be entered into the end of season lottery for free VIP. This week the spotlight is on the Elite League and Tuesday's game between Silverdale Salmon and Eights United. Please predict the outcome of the match and how many players with golden hearts will be playing in the match (starting line-ups only).
  23. Insane away win in a close game against Zell I can do reports for any league that's not taken. I'm guessing Federer and Dan-Likes-Trees are doing the elite league so that'll leave me with the lower league?
  24. For the majority of people it's just the Saturday but some of us stay overnight and have a wander on Sunday
