Silverlight will likely wind up replacing Flash, it's far more capable and yields very impressive results. It's also central to Microsoft's "Life without walls" concept that they're pushing at the moment, it's a core component of Windows Live, Windows 7 and Windows Mobile 7.

I've got one and think it's ruddy brilliant! It's worth noting that the 46" PZ80 is now about the same price (possibly even less). Might be worth looking at, it's basically the same set but without the Freesat tuner. EDIT: Saw this thread over at AVForums, thought it might be of interest. http://www.avforums.com/forums/av-hardware-bargains-discount-codes/909968-panasonic-46pz80-dmpbd35-blu-ray-costco-members-only.html

I had that glitch last time around, they sent me Fire Emblem without realising. They're system didn't realise i had it either. Some times you can get an extra film by requesting spare envolopes, they tend to pop a disk in as well (i guess it saves them postage money).

I'm planning on using a single 4830 safe in the knowledge that if i need more power i can get another for £90. Decided it's the best bet, the 4870 is too expensive, and if i go for a 4850 and find myself needing a boost it's gonna set me back a good £120. £240 of GPUs in my machine is too much, so i'm going for the cheaper option. My RAM arrived today! Wasn't expecting it for weeks! They told me the estimated delivery date was the 5th Feb due to stock shortages

Can't RMA it, i just checked. I was already planning an upgrade anyway so no massive loss. The only real change is i'll be swapping out the CPU, Mobo and GPU at roughly the same time instead of staggering it. Decided to wait on the AM3 stuff, it's only a few weeks away and tbh the price of the Phenom II's is far too unstable at the moment to warrant a purchase! In the past 254 hours eBuyer's prices have dropped as low as £155 for the 920 and shot back up again to over the £200 mark. Scan are more stable, but i've seen a few quid disappear here and there as well. I'll probably order the first 4830 over the weekend, i've got a lot of holiday time from work in the next couple of weeks and i'd like to get a bit of gaming done during that time.

I'm not sure i can? It's a second hand card with an aftermarket cooler, surely they wouldn't accept that back?

I need a new motherboard for a Phenom II. That makes things a tad... complicated. It's now a choice between a 7750 Black Edition with a 4830, or a Phenom II 920 with a 790G mobo and a 4830. The Phenom is effectively gonna cost me £150 more than the 7750! The bonus being that it's a quad, i'd be running AMD's latest platform on a considerably better motherboard, i'd have Crossfire as an upgrade option and an intergrated graphics chip for back-up. It's all down to the bank now and how much money i have left.

They'd better turn out to be good, i've been waiting on them both for near 2 years! Anyone else think 2009 could turn out to be better than 2008? The high quality games sure are mounting up! http://hotukdeals.com/search.php?action=search&keywords=guitar+hero&category=&type=1 Can't believe how cheap these Guitars are becoming. I want drum kit deals dagnabbit!
-
Get World Tour, the guitar is a lot better! I prefer the game as well, but that's a matter of taste really. You can get RB2 later when the instruments launch (hopefully there'll be some sort of Mic, Drums + Game pack like there is in the US).

There are passive 4850's but finding a good price on one can be a challenge. I can't bear noisey coolers, if i can't source a passive card then one with a silent fan will have to do. As for the mobo, the answer is no. However i will pick up a new board before too long, my current one is pretty cheapo (i still need to confirm if it's compatable with PH2 procesors
-
Which answer would you like? The one that says i'm a rabbid ATi/AMD fanboy (take note; i've even got ATi branded RAM)? Or the one that says i want to exploit AMD's Dragon platform to eek the most out of my system? Ordered my RAM Found too good a price on it to turn down! Just trying to track down a passive/silent 4850 or 4870 now (even a 4830 would do).

The fact that he's black is pretty invalid if you ask me, his race shouldn't matter. I do wonder whether it was his politics that got in in to the white house or just the colour of his skin? Don't get me wrong though, i do think he'll do a good job. His policies seem very sound. I'm just of the opinion that there was very little to choose between this year's front runners and that he pretty much won because he played the race card

This is why we won't be joining the Euro any time soon i think, we'd lose one hell of a lot of money. On top of that the projected losses incurred by businesses from the VAT cut is already pretty high, if they all had to convert to the Euro i think we'd see a fair few go under
-
Yup, it does I think an AMD BE-2300 (1.9GHz) might hold it back though... ...i guess i'll be needing a Phenom II as well Ooh, and another 2GB RAM. The only snag? That's about £320+ worth of kit Will consult the bank balance tomorrow!

The PC version plays like Guild Wars, you pick an enemy and Geralt fights it. The game does the attacks while you focus on other elements (fighting style, choice of weapon, alchemy etc). The console version will likely be more of a hack 'n slash affair down the lines of Fable 2, they'll be looking to give you more direct control over the character's actions. It'll take away some of the strategy, but the game should feel faster, more frantic and just generally more natural to the console platform than a port of the PC version would.

My old halls let you unblock 10 ports or 5 ranges of ports (or any mix of the two) and that was your lot. Made PC gaming possible for most games if you planned a day or two ahead (the rounter rebooted at midday each day so you had to edit your port selections before then) but Live just didn't work. Daft thing was it was all done to stop people from torrenting. In the end all that happened was the guys in the Student Village used to bittorent 24/7 and then share it with the rest of the uni over the LAN (the SV was on the Uni network but each house also had a phone line and cable, pretty much everyone had private net connections).

RIP 3870 It died last night! You know what makes it worse? I shipped out my old GPU yesterday to some bloke down London way who offered my £40 for it. No PC games for me for a while

Yeah, but on a larger scale. Shogun 2 would be too small in scale for CA these days, only having Japan wouldn't keep fans of the series happy when they're used to managing Empires spanning the whole of Europe. A map stretching from Iraq right the way to Japan, and down through India, Indonesia, Singapore etc. is what i'm hoping for. A lot of interesting military history in those parts (which is what Total War is all about, periods of intense feudal fighting) and the military strategy was quite different to that of Europe.

I bought the PC version at launch in November(?) 2007 and to this day it's still one of my favourite games. Sadly i never got to complete it, there was technical issues with the game that meant it crashed after about 10 hours play on my PC. The Enhanced Edition is now out (free download for those who purchased The Witcher the first time around) so hopefully that'll solve my problems. Regardless, i'm still looking forward to the console version. The game is incredible, and to think that it's the first release from a small eastern-European developer is incredible. It'll be interesting to see what changes they make, they've insisted that it's NOT a port and that the only thing they are carrying across is the story. It'll be a console RPG, not a PC RPG ported to consoles.

You knows it! I suck at this game. Badly. I can't seem to get a feel for the controls and i have absolutely none of the "6th sense" and understanding of surroundings i get on the PC and 360. I miss the enemies, walk in to walls, spend a lot of time staring at the floor/celing and just feel constantly disoriented. Oh the joys of what happens when you take someone who's pretty good at PC shooters and give him a Wiimote! It kinda reminds me of what it was like when i first started playing PC games, only it's a LOT more difficult (i guess it's the extra dimension of movement).

Try a different USB port. It's a common problem between Windows and the iPod unfortunately.

CA said for years they would never do this era because it wouldn't work. They changed their mind a few years ago because the modding community managed to get it working well, strategy basically boils down to; line up ranged units, have them fire on enemy ranged units. Attempt to flank enemy ranged units with your cavalry while also stopping the enemy flanking your ranged units with their cavs. Obviously it gets deeper than that, but it's the basic premise. Quite looking forward to seeing if they pull it off, if not then i'll be helping out with the porting on Medieval II to the new engine. I doubt TW will go more modern than this though, certainly not past WWI. These days war is about small well trained units rather than large scale deployment, it just wouldn't fit the style. I'm hoping for an Asian game next time, the Chineese dynasties, Japan, Mongolia et all. Would be fan-bloody-tastic!

I didn't think upgrading 32-bit Vista to 64-bit 7 was possible? If i have issues it's easy enough to reinstall Vista, better than it taking up 100GB on my drive and not being used. So far everything has been as normal, only faster and cleaner.

I'm very intrigued, if it's as good as it seems and a reasonable price i'll seriously consider getting rid of the Xperia.

I've just done the same. Love it! I cancelled 6 months ago because i wasn't really all that fussed and i kept forgetting to return the films. Now got a 42" Plasma and Blu-Ray player so it's worth my while, especially with the first 90 days free : peace:
