    Skins

I just watched the first two episodes on 4oD... First episode they made Anwar's character a carbon copy of McLovin - still waiting to see if that's going to be the case throughout the series. As for Sketch... Well before I saw it mentioned in here that she'll be a regular character (which I'd guessed...) I thought that episode was largely wasteful. Her mother is a brilliant character though. Hope she explodes at some point. Need more of Chris and sid as they're the funniest characters, even if Sid is a bit of a crap actor. andofcoursetheladiesplease... I laughed a little when Anwar said "I didn't get to About a Boy". I wonder, in the Skins-dimension who starred as that little kid alongside Hugh Grant instead of Tony... *insert something about three walls*
  2. I remember, in an effort to milk the 3-day rental, unplugging the pad from teh #1 slot, plugging it into the #2/3/4 slots and changing the computer players to human players on the last go, so that I could get all their coins and starts... Bit of a cheat, I admit! I thought the mini games were ace, and I actually quited liked the premise of the game, but I think nintendo got a bit too focused on the prospect of the franchise becoming a cash cow, and thus missed the point completely. But hey, I'm sure wario ware has the minigames to thank, on some level?
  3. agreed... but it's not supposed to be a full eclipse for... another 5 mins? *goes off again*
  4. ... Still confused? You listed 5 items. Go through the thread and make a note of who took what. Eg Pencil - mike, jerry, bob Plum - jerry, peter Poo - mike, bob, peter only 3 people took a picture of a pencil, thus the pencil BISH is worth 150pts to each who took it. You work out how many shot each BISH, then award the points to each person. Get it?
  5. Rummy = Pure WINNAGE. Dude that's like... 27 bishes in one post?! And a whole bunch of number plates! bwahaha! Well, uh, I guess The competition is over. Please will everyone go through this thread from teh start and tally who took what BISHes of yours, and do your own working out with reference to the points system on the first post. The 'Scoring' phase will finish on Saturday 23rd Feb, so perhaps if you're real lucky the countees may well still accept any entries before then...
  6. Eenuh; that sounds like an interesting paper to write The bits of the film where he stares intently at the picture on his wall and 'zones in', and the waves crashing in general, and the noise of the neighbours... Awesome. Sound and lighting are two factors of movies I pay the least attention to. I've started noticing the role of lighting and make-up recently - and wardrobe (last scene in Battle Royale, which I also watched last night, has two people running through a city and they keep having to pull on their bag straps/hoodie shoulders as the clothes don't fit... aah rambleralbeakrnmaramble) Well I've just finished Blood Simple, and I really enjoyed teh character unfolding, the way the focus shifted from one to the other made each character less creepy than usual coen style. I found myself just trying to imagine a police detective coming across all the crime scenes and trying to unravel the correct order of things, of who did what when and why. I also enjoyed the double irony throughout, and only found one scene where the character didn't really respond accurately (The girl when 'Ray' is telling her 'what she did). Not as self-conscious as Hudsucker Proxy or Barton Fink, and because of that, the film had greater depth in character realism. The film reminded me a little of fargo (leading lady certainly helped) and Pulp Fiction. Some might argue that the scenes are too slow, but I argue that the scenes are built up of lots of little obstacles/victories that you would genuinely take the time to think about.
  7. Watched a few films yesterday... will be watching a few more today... Twelve Monkeys Okay. Now I admit, I don't think I fully understood the film the last time I saw it -- but then, that was around a decade ago, so I have my excuses. I don't think the day is saved at the end of the film. I don't think I can bother writing much. 8/10 Monster's Ball Someone tell me why Halle Berry got an oscar? I mean, besides the sex scene, of course. I thought much of the acting in this film was poor, and the story itself too contrived and too similar to 21 Grams to be new. But the sex scene... 7/10 Barton Fink Another quality film from teh Coens. There are some niggles with it, mind; I didn't and don't really see the appeal of John Turturro's acting... I kept visualising the movie as if it was shot in some soap-opera tv studio, and kept seeing him as an actor and not as Barton Fink. But I liked the whole misrepresentation, man-behind-the-star sort of feel to this. There were some seriously creepy angles that were so very lightly suggested that my mind kept running away with -- I loved the shot of all the shoes being left outside the room, waiting to be shined. I kept getting the impression that Goodman's character 'Charlie Meadows' was actually trying to sell Fink insurance by befriending him then guilting him.. Of course that's an entire fabrication but the Coens seem able to let the audience fantasize about things like this. 8/10 Almost but not quite.
  8. Precisely my intention I might go for a wander around the rest of london if I need some tobacco or junk food, but I'll let others run about the place while I chill and get pissed Yeah, it's all cheaper up north As for meets... I don't know if there's ever been an official meet, but a lot of forumites have met other guys. Uber l33ts were about 7 people and they met up... lollers :P I was some cool blue-haired guy. Long blue hair just doesn't work. Plus I don't think you look like your avatar. is it wrong that this is a good plan? Nice idea. I did a google search, and listed here are travelodges close to hyde park area.. but I had a look at the two closest to hyde park (a and b) and they don't seem to want to charge me much less than £100 for the two-night stay... The back-packer hostels seem to be cheaper and closer.
  9. I r still up for Godot! Hoho, you say that now... Well I'm glad you're somewhat relieved about it. You've sounded pretty down about the pressure recently. I think I work best under pressure too... Not enough and I fawn at it and ignore it... Quite teh true statement. *shakes head at rez :P*
  10. Simply the best episode of anything ever. Of course, it helps if you've seen all the previous episodes... But yeah
  11. Well if there's an extension, I'm totally getting that woolworths one...
  12. Mundi; if you're willing to stay in a backpacking hostel then you can spend no more than £50 for two nights stay right in teh centre of the hyde park area of london. It's what I've suggested to others, and it's probably what I'll be doing anyway. Reading the previous couple of pages does make me realise you're all just a bunch of avatars and there's no real way of knowing if any of you are who you say you are... But hyde park is a public location with numerous exits available for a rapid evacuation, should the need arise for me.
  13. Ok well I'm all up for another one straight afters. I can change it and be an adjudicator-type person if you like - I'm pretty sure I'll be performing most of the scores-collecting this game anyway, so I can just shift it back to the old way for the next one... And I'll use the time to think up a league system that could actually work...
  14. awesome rummy :P Well... Last BISH game the deadline sorta... slipped due to everyone having xmas, then new year, then essays, then exams... blah, blah... Now, I could give this game an extension, but in all honesty, I don't think the extra days would provide a decent enough amount of new activity. Opinions?
  15. Yeah, you know about it but that doesn't mean you'd be held responsible if anything happened. It's like the forum knows that individuals pirate, but it's not the forum's fault. My opinion; under 18's can come without adults provided they have permission. That's sensible isn't it? By the by... how different would an 'official' meet be?
  16. I've found a backpacker hostel called the Astor Kensington Backpacker Hostel. A 10-bedroom mixed dorm would be £18pppn, 4 people would be £25pppn, 6 = £24pppn, 7 = £23pppn, 8 = £22pppn. The place is literally around the corner from Hyde Park. Problem? They only accept guests between 18 and 35. There's a whole array of cheap hostels in london. The Royal Bayswater Hostel is £13pppn (tax not included..) if you're willing to share the 20-bed room. I'm considering going up friday and staying two nights.
  17. Yes indeed, we are rapidly approaching the FINAL TWENTY FOUR HOURS!!!! This competition will officially be over at 6pm tomorrow the 20th of february. I ask that you all keep on bishing, as there's so much time left it's just silly.
  18. woot! My team's picking up a bit. My next game against FC Creamola, I think, will concrete his victory in the league if he beats me. If I beat him? Well then I believe that will certify promotion. Not sure if I'm ready for that. So yeah, next 4 games I have are against 1st, 7th, 4th and 3rd! This week I have 4 players in the xpert 11 though... and I was manager of the week weeks 2, 3, 6, 9.. rounds 8 and 9 I had 5 players in there too...
  19. Ok, so I cut down the tube map a little, keeping Euston, King's Cross, Paddington and Victoria on the map. The ideal stations for Hyde park, I've been told, are Lancaster Gate, Marble Arch (both on Central line) and Hyde Park Corner (Picadilly Line) I can give step-by-step changes if you need them :P I've left only the key stations on the map.
  20. Nightwolf; there are signs pointing towards the tube :P But if you are serious about help then I'm up for meeting anyone from their train station. What's a 5 minute awkward tube journey compared to several hours in teh park, eh!
  21. nice one letty! Surface piercings basically mean you'll never run out of places :P Got up today at SIX PEE EMMMmm... slept through daylight. Not done that in a long time. Trying to download season 2 of veronica mars but my internet is being gay *reckons shorty is downloading stuff too* -- downloading at 3kb/s, uploading at 21kb/s. Fair? NO. *scuttles off to look for something to watch*
  22. Guys, guys, chiilllll! Everyone can turn up when they like :P most people won't be able to turn up 'til afternoon due to distance, it's understandable I think supergrunch and I (ha! See, now I'm holding you to your word :P) will be there early to set things up a little (i hope). See? Nobody ever reads the full event description, do they? Hopefully it'll be all of the above, plus whatever else anyone wants to do. I've got no real idea as to how many people will be going.
  23. Ok guys I've made a group on facebook I accidentally sent invitations to a bunch of WRONG people, shite... But yeah! If you have a facebook then by all means sign up and stuff. I'm going to try and get some sort of map posted on it...
  24. Yeah, what he says ^, it's basically saying you can either choose to have it going towards your 100 credits needed a year for two or three years, thus meaning you'd have one less module block free for other elective modules - modules that you normally choose from a list that are more to do with your course - or you can do it as an 'extra-curricular' module, and pay for it. Shorty is doing the first choice -- studying Japanese and getting credits for it that go towards his host degree. Paying extra might seem ridiculous, but it might be worth having a look at the module list for the 3 years if you can get a hold of it...
  25. Jordan = teh sux for staying on topic. FATTY!
