Does caris not know how to look for himself? Besides, why do you need a bar? They're expensive. Why not off-license, as I suggested?

The 'clique' thing... well for sure people will want to talk/meet certain members more than others, but I'm sure surprising new links will be made. Personally, nobody from any of my own 'groups' are going... I guess because I'm not in any. I don't see a problem with people not coming it is their choice. This whole thing could be rubbish. Or it could be great, and serve as a benchmark for future meets. Agreed on the 'unplanned' part :P I'm pretty much going to do what ReZ says though; ... I'll be drinking in the park from asap, picnicking and chatting through most of the saturday, I hope. I suppose I could've rustled up some kind of itenerary (right, 1pm food, 2pm scavenger hunt, 4pm drinks, 5pm games...) and so on, but I don't like making choices for others. In my mind the main event is the saturday, but I do reckon people will have the most fun wherever they spend the night. I'd like to point everyone towards the hostel in the link on the first post :P There's rooms with 12 beds in, and it's dead cheap, and it would mean I'd not be the only person there? :'( You don't need a hotel with an expensive bar when you have off-licences and a roof to be under.

Animatrix No idea what took me so long to watch this 'omnibus' of shorts set in and around the matrix universe. Liked it a lot. Worst one was "The Detective" - I felt like it utterly failed to put across any theme or message, and the involvement of Trinity made me groan. 8/10

Not happy with that :'( I lost 2-1... Fex had 8 chances and I had one. One! Why can't my team learn to draw more, or to lose by more than one goal as that's always been the margin! Short Cuts Altman is a brilliant voyeur of the human behaviour. I don't necessarily agree with all of his takes on the Carver stories, but then that's kind of the point of his stories One thing; in one of the extras on my super-awesome Criterion edition of the movie sees Tess Carver giving Altman some of Raymond's old clothes and ties; clothes ink stained, with some of Raymond's motherfucking cigerettes still in the motherfucking pockets, and the ties kept tied just as Raymond always kept them... and he just seemed to be above it. I can understand that he behaves like nothing affects him because he's a genius, and I totally understand his life philosophy, and indeed agree -- even admire a lot of it... But I didn't like that. Great film, mind. 9/10. Does anyone here have any of the other Criterion Collection DVDs? Or even know what I'm talking about?

I can understand your point of view. I think your opinion hinges on your idea that men work harder than women at the same job. To some degree, you are correct, I'm sure -- but the main counterclaim to that viewpoint is the case-by-case difference in the job itself. Some jobs can be defined as 'easier' for different sexes. To some extent it could be fair to say that one sex is better than the other - but then the problem shifts from the job to the individual person, for not all men are strong, not all men tall, not all men able to do maths. While saying certain jobs are easier for certain sexes might be true, it's a statement/observation that actually only covers the nth percentile of the population. While that is indeed the majority, if you start collecting all the individuals that fit into one nth or another across the whole spectrum of jobs, you start seeing the number of people that don't fit into the job stereotype aren't represented all too fairly if you say that this sort of person does all of this better than that sort of person. So basically; generalising overlooks the truth. If we start generalising about feminists, who are generalising about women, who are generalising about inequality, which is generalising about who is better than who, who also generalise when they go on forums when they are generalising about feminists, we get nowhere. Man, I'm full of some shit today.

Ok! My roooom... I was going to tell you aaalll about my miniature chick army, my bedside cabinet (carboard box with bathroom cabinet on it), my margin drawings, the pictures I have that I was going to put up on teh walls, my gig tickets stuck to a bit of wall you didn't get to see (there's only one - Brand New), my voodoo charms, by buddha, my drawers, specifically what books were in my to-read pile, specifically what dvds were in my watch/to watch pile, my other drawers, my broken ds... my norton anthology plus other things in the lounge, kitchen and bathroom but I a) thought that would be boring, or b) was too scared, or c) all of the above. Will take requests! :P
