  1. ... so shorty was telling me about it but tbh i felt nothing... I;ve had major huccups for the last 10 mins. I blame them for missing anything like this.
  2. So you want me to list all the people on the forum? Or recreate a thread that existed a few months back where we describe each other using one word and one word alone? :P If you start, I'll help! But right now I'm off to be all sociable and stuff... Ooh that would be AWESOME if we did. Unfortunately the vets are like OAPs and spend most of their time asleep. I barely count, of course, as I'm like the 2nd-newest Vet- still have all my own teeth and all that.
  3. No sense? But surely the bruises and such are proof that you are being attacked? I still can't believe this shit is happening to you, but I think you're doing the right thing by standing up to the whole situation. Early one = mucho smartsies. Well I can't do it tomorrow as I got uni, but Thursday the 6th would be ace!
  4. nintendohnut; Norton Anthology is evil, innit?
  5. aaaaaaah! TWO GAMES LEFT! Aaaah! :P Well I won rather convincingly - 4-0. Not too bad. Thing is, my next two games are against 4th and 2nd... The match between me and Fex Allstars on Friday decides the top three, if I've worked this out correctly. Fex is one of only two teams who've managed to defeat FC Creamola this season. I do believe I have the hardest two closing matches. I've believed it all along - I don't mind if I don't get promoted... Its a scary prospect battling with the big boys... but when it comes to the crunch - well I don't want to lose now, do I?
  6. Tourney sounds interesting - but quite tricky to organise effectively, if you ask me. We don't know how many of the 'maybes' can come, or even if all the 'definites' will turn up... Probably best to arrange something on the day? As for a snazzy name... What's wrong with NEMU? N-E Meet-Up... :P
  7. Never worked for me I hate how C-E stole my birthday :'( I think I signed up Feb 7th 2002... Aimless = Edge = awesome signatuurs. From the old skool. A member i've always looked up to. *blushes, runs away* I knew all that, nyer! As for me... Well I rarely lurk out of the Gen Chit-Chat, and I don't think I post that much (average post 2.29 per day!). I kind of skipped a 'generation' of users so my name was never passed unto the youth. But Domu-Kun, you're right -- it's really weird if you think about it - about what your perception of someone else is, based upon a simple interaction, maybe even a one-off, on a forum about some topic that you'll then forever associate with that person. Certain threads remind me of certain people, and certain people remind me of certain topics I like all the associations I've drawn in my mind of y'all. If there was some sort of conclusive list of active members, I'd do keywords for them allll.
  8. Had a brief look at the 'waves' of Feminism, and how it affected language alone, last semester. Large problem with 'feminism' (with a little F, for some sort of clarity's sake) is how it is rather linked with Political Correctness. When it veers into this territory, I tend to think "well what about all the other forms of inequality - class, creed, colour, height, weight, hair colour, hair length, number of limbs -- whatever. The overwhelming amount of 'unfair' catagorizations and situations; restrictions and stereotypes that actually exist in the world just batters me into a state of utter apathy for it all! Superficiality is what I'm drawn to think of. In the sense of the naivité of ever believing anything can be black and white. But then - if there weren't groups of people trying to raise political/social awareness of such inequality, then serious problems would never be resolved... So in the interests of the greater good, Feminism is pretty much permenantly filed under "things I just don't care about"
  9. "mirrors are made of win" - lol... too much win after that >_< Awesome vids, if a little weird (if I was a stalker, sometimes i really believe this forum would be what water is to fish...) - I will have to ask Shorty's permission to do a vid of our flat... Just to one-up on the whole 'bedroom' thing. It would also probably encourage us (re: me) to tidy up a bit... Might need to make a script or something. Don't want it to be super-awesome as that'll just depress you all. If I'm going to depress you, then it'll be on my terms. EDIT: Ok so somehow I managed to miss the entire 2nd page and thus I have this to say; Curse ye, Tom! And; McLovin, you clearly broke into a show-home or something.
  10. Pretty much what's been said - Can't please everyone. If you can't come, then you can't come. Arrange another date/location! "If you book it, they will come". doo eeeet...
  11. You'll get an overall grade that takes into account all six modules accross AS/A2 But, of course, you don't get your final mark before you apply to uni's so you put your AS mark and your predicted grade, amiright? Back to ME ME ME MEEEEeee.... Decided to have a nap instead of go out (Y) HARDCORR. *breaks open the wine*
  12. oi :P Well I said something about it in the other thread and you clearly paid no attention to my fawning :'( I'm still up for it, if it's still on? *dances in a sticky light*
  13. Well I managed about 3 hours sleep last night. Somehow managed to get seriously wound up about things not important enough to name. I think I passed the timed essay, but totally didn't do well. Ended up bunking the following seminar, had two pints, went to my next seminar for a book I've not read and made some astounding points that impressed the tutor (mwahaha!), then went for another pint... Quick trip to the library. Got an essay due in about 15 days now... Mucho Kudos to Shorty for reminding me. Hoping to go out again tonight to the same place where I fell down the stairs last week... Going with a different crowd, so who knows how successful it'll be, if it even goes ahead, that is. Etcyayaya.
  14. I wouldn't worry too much about any irl hassle. Worst case scenario; people will split into factions and ignore other people. I personally have no issues with anyone whatsoever, so you can always come talk to me ^_^
  15. Well actually we've spent three lectures on the subject... Yeah I agree, it's actually quite interesting, but psychology is all about remembering experiments, theories and criticism... And... well when I did my psych A2 exam I basically revised my ass off, inventing new words as mnemonics, whittling 250 pages in the text book down to 9 double-sided prompt cards that I memorised. This exam? Three A4 pages of random useful things that I have no hope of remembering. Only 'good' thing so far is that two other people claim to have not started revision 'til yesterday like me. Oh well! Well if your car is ever nicked, give the police the name/description of the guy that sold it to you -- and keep an eye out for it on ebay in the future :P
  16. I'm doing English Studies... I hate the language modules though. Got about 3 hours sleep last night. Got about 40 mins to go over what I think I know! As for your car issues; so long as you know his address, his name and what he looks like you'll be fiiiine :P
  17. Well perhaps the fact that the adaptation of NCFOM fixed some of the faults with the book-version's story maybe helped it out? I've just heard that. Not read the books nor seen the film of either version :P I think I saw a clip of the oscars on youtube early this morning... Day-Lewis dedicated his oscar to Heath Ledger did he not?
  18. Well if you fancy calculating everyone elses scores then your statement will at least be partially correct
  19. Moog; I plan on drinking in Hyde Park. There's 10 people going (at least), so not everyone will do everything I'm staying for a couple of nights, so I'll be spending most of the saturday out of the pub, and mostly in the park, just chilling out, calling you all silly versions of your screen-names, slapping anyone who calls me jay! Mwhahaaaa!
  20. Well I could argue that it fits in in terms of how/when the egocentric nature turns into sociocentric, and even the theory that it starts out sociocentric and drifts into ego~; even, how egocentric language for children basically turns into egocentric thought -- that the kids are basically saying things out loud and that their 'inner voice' doesn't actually exist like it does in adults. I really like that whole idea, but i can't squeeze it into an answer for "2. Is the notion of egocentricity at all useful in understanding child language?" :'( BUT YEAH! it'll be over soon, and I'll get back to talking about how my life is a field of dandylions.
  21. Ok, well the counting ended yesterday, I was having way too much fun to sort it out then, so I'm 'officially' closing the counting. All those who failed to do their part will now lose 50pts. I will score everyone elses things later. maybe tonight, but probably monday/tuesday/wednesday, depending on when i get sleep If anyone else wishes to help and do some counting then feel free Would de-stress me lots...
  22. .. Well I think I looked a fool trying to make a sound. Nope, I don't think I can. What Echo said about a noise when yawning sounds familiar though...
  23. Well we get (had..) two weeks to learn about it. Chomsky, Piaget and Vygotsky being the main three dudes, with good ol' Steven Pinker supposed to ease one into the topic with his layman bestsellers... Here's basically what I've got to say for my hour-long timed essay tomorrow; Egocentricity is [definition], and is useful in understanding children's language because if you didn't know how they were thinking, you wouldn't be able to understand the way they're understanding stuff. That's pretty much it. It's really, really bad. I spent 2 hours thinking the q was on "understanding children's language acquisition" and the difference, if only subtle, is very discouraging. Might have to switch to the question on 'holophrases', and what they suggest about language acquisition. I've done no work on that question but I already know more than I do for the other question. Hooray for wasting time! I could stay in the library all night... Surely I can learn a thing or two in 12 hours, right? *remembers he's not done any of the reading for his other modules tomorrow... dies* lol, thanks :P veery useful...
  24. I think i'm 75% likely to be departing from brighton at the moment... If i leave from sheffield it'll on the coach, around midday... you have teh skillz - edit the info into my post :P
  25. So here I am in the library. Been here a couple of hours... And man, it sucks. Does anyone here know how egocentricity can be seen as useful in determining the language acquisition of children? BAH.
