So you trade in perfect examples of nice Wii controls for old-style games... Doesn't that ring a bell - get a 360? You're overreacting and nobody cares what you do in your underwear... Also, your consumer demand? That's just egocentrical. Nintendo doesn't have to give you what you want. However, you choose you buy Nintendo products so if you're not getting what you go somewhere else. This is not Nintendo's responsibility. They are dominating, we are getting the VC games we want and we are able to use USB keyboards now and will very likely have complete control in the next update. The demo channel isn't there, but neither is the memory for it, so too bad. Stop being such a spoiled brat, Nintendo is giving us a lot of good stuff. It may not be everything we want but how the hell can you expect that? Just because we don't get everything we want doesn't make them lazy...

Dunno how it works in the UK, but the government mays me around €500 each month for my studies (depends on parents' income, whether you live at home or not, I get the maximum), and it offers a cheap loan for another €250 maximum each month. Considering most people finish university under seven years debts rarely get over €20,000 - only if you don't work to compensate the loan and don't loan your money elsewhere (which shouldn't be necessary). This is a damn good system and makes studying possible for me, considering I'm not from a wealthy family.

I personally found MP1 Samus more out of place than the others; the game is not that realistic that it needs realistic-looking humans too.

Cash-ins means bad titles; Nintendo, except for maybe the outsourced Mario Party doesn't make bad titles. I never once had a Nintendo title that wasn't worth the money. Cash-ins are the loads of PS2 ports; but then again, nobody says you have to buy them. Very much untrue. The media argument is outdated with the N64. The GameCube used standard mini-DVDs which provided enough space for nearly all games and the Wii uses the same media as the 360... Media choice is a ridiculous argument anyway; if a game can make profit developers would release it on a floppy disk. The real reason is that Nintendo fans like you and me, much prefer Nintendo's own games to third party efforts; Nintendo doesn't control their market, but we do. Yes, because Nintendo had reasons to do it, the Wii is a lot less more fun and original. You can call it what you want, but giving it a name doesn't make it any less than what it is. If you feel that you're too big a man to play with 'toys' and 'gimmicks' that add an extra layer of fun in your games, blame yourself and not Nintendo for being lazy. There's no denying that. But there's nobody who denies it either, and the spectacular games are definitely coming. In fact, as Teppo mentions, the games are not that bad. Give them a try before complaining.

Why don't I ever see Depeche Mode in anyone's Last.fm... They're freaking amazing.

Yeah I was more referring to: I like this nature setting more than the futuristic casino style though.
-
Doubt it. The demo levels of MP1 and MP2 were also random rooms from various areas in the game that were in different spots or only appeared later in the actual game. I don't believe that you beat Ridley after half an hour, for one thing.

Oh come on, give Metroid a chance! I'm boycotting this poll until there's a Metroid option! This game needs way more credit.
-
Wow, thank god. At least the graphics look worthy, finally textures! I wish they'd incorporate the bloom lighting that makes Mario, Dewy and Metroid look so good, though, that would make a big difference. I pray this game doesn't dissappoint in comparison to the first.
-
Agreed. The first parts of the game have a lot of magic I don't want to have spoiled

The point that this was a great looking game (actually, two great looking games) on Xbox, and the Wii is more than capable of at least recreating an Xbox experience. I don't mind game's graphics all too much, as long as they don't suck; and looking at the screenshots, they absolutely do. They show that they have made zero effort in doing so and even on TVs this game looks shitty. I play these games on a 72 cm widescreen TV, and I don't have high standards, but PSP crap like this unacceptable for the Wii and shows no respect to the Wii's userbase. Like pedro said, we don't need HD quality, but the least we can expect from developers is effort right? Effort meaning we get games that are worth looking at, at least GameCube-level visuals. Not this Dreamcast/PSP shovelware - even on PS2 this wouldn't have been acceptable. I'm really pissed with these guys now , they ruined a potential 'AAA' title... Also, CoD3's controls were supposedly rather good. Haven't played it myself though.

That seriously blows. FFS, they could've just ported the Xbox games without fucking up the graphics? In the IGN interview they try to come across real hard-working, but the graphics suck, the levels are old and there's no multiplayer. This could've been a great game.

Oh, right, composite doesn't do progressive. I knew that
-
Not doing what you want doesn't make them lazy.
-
Yeah, it's confirmed to only work with progressive scan games. That's not a problem as I can live with a composite cable for my Cube games. I'll wait for tests though, and probably for European distribution too. I thought that the composite's progressive scan made more of an impact than s-video's colours, but I guess it doesn't. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm, I wonder whether this game'll by any good... I'm kidding of course
-
The latest two trailers aren't very interesting. That Phazon update seems kind of meh... And I hope this game isn't overdone with scripted events like it seems now. It would be rather unMetroidish.
-
One thing is certain; if this game gets a home console adventure, it can't have turn-based battles. It does not work in 3D. I actually quite like the idea Cube had about an RTS/action-like scenario, like in the anime. With the Wiimote it could be done quite well. Conservative as Nintendo is, especially with succesful series, this is not going to happen.
-
Graphics look OK-ish, online multiplayer should be good, but come on, it's Medal of Honor... They had a lucky hit with Allied Assault a few years ago, but it's uninspired stuff ever since (and before that, too).
-
So s-video would support 480p if composite would run in 480p? Also, considering my TV box has a VGA-in port and seems to have an upscale chip inside (haven't had the chance to test it properly yet, but it 'supporting' monitor resolutions of 800x600 to 1440x900 is good evidence) would VGA be a better option than s-video? Thanks for the quick reply pedro

I bought a TV box thingy so I could watch TV on my monitor in my student room, thinking it would support component for crisp quality Wii games, too. Turns out the package comes with a component -> S-video convertor boasting '480i component' support What's the best cable for my Wii in this case? The box doesn't have SCART so RGB isn't possible, and the component won't beat S-video quality this way. Is it best to stick with composite (which, hopefully, does support progressive scan) or chuck out €30-40 for an S-video or a VGA cable (considering I have a Samsung Syncmaster 205BW monitor)?

The Wiimote isn't suited for flight simulators at all. Flight simulators put you in the plane for a realistic experience, and therefore you need a joystick and lots of keys like in a real aeroplane. The Wiimote does well in the paper aeroplane control method, in which the Wiimote is the plane, and so it's great for some arcade flying like Pilot Wings or Star Fox. It doesn't do the right thing for flight simulators though.

It's actually the truth you know... The release dates are corporate policy; Nintendo of Europe is actually just a division of the bigger Nintendo (of Japan), which decides when the games come out. Nintendo of Europe is not some self-governing company that can delay games as much as they please, as some seem to think. Also, Tingle RPG will make profit if they release it in Europe. Because it may sell less than in Japan is no reason for not trying to make money here.
-
Duke Nukem Forever actually has gameplay footage. There are videos of the game running in about four different game engines and three different physics engines. The constant technology switching is what has been delaying the game most. I acknowledge the design idea of Sadness, but it's just a design document at best, and not a game. You can put me with 'fake', as it's not a game.
-
It's not really fake, but it's not a game, at any rate.
