Retro: There is something wrong with the characters, I think it may be due to the lighting. Some of their armour is just too bright. I think it's something they'll work on over time. But, that trailer was pretty sweet, I thought. It's showing promise.

Heh, the thing is as soon as the match finishes, the commentators and writers for the game all favour the winning team. When the match is happening, they'll say one thing, and then one at the end of the game.

It wasn't the best game, and it was not the best performance from Man United, by far. I don't even know why it didn't work. For the first 7 or 8 minutes, I was hugely optimistic. Then, the goal came, and Barcelona never looked backed. We had chances, but we didn't seem to build or dominate through that midfield. We didn't have any grit in midfield, and that is where we probably lost it. Saying that, when anybody asks me "what did you think of last year's Champions League Final?" I'll just remember racism. It's a shame, as I'd rather remember the football, despite us losing.

Tonight was pretty awful. Not even talking about the game. I watched the game in a packed pub with my good friend and some of her Spanish/Barcelona supporting friends. Some of the English fans tonight were an absolute, utter fucking disgrace. The way they acted towards the friends of my friend were just plain wrong. If you gave Man United a goal for every time "Spanish Cunt" was said, then the match would have been a cricket score. Not going to even comment on the game. The atmosphere ruined it for me and I'll remember that forever. The bad thing is that my housemates, also a Chelsea fan and a United fan have also tried to convince me that this is part and parcel of football, and you get this wherever you go. Sorry, I don't stand for that, football or no football. It's not right. The match itself...like I said to my friends, Barcelona were going for three trophies in one season like we did 10 years ago. They have achieved their dream, and tonight they seemed like they wanted it more. We seemed to lack Spirit, which is what killed us. For the first 8 or 9 minutes, we looked up for it. Soon as the first goal went it, we never recovered.

There is always being more money pumped into football, and I read a post somewhere (not sure if it's a few posts up or on another forum) that said the only way to bridge the gap between the English big four and the rest is to pump money into the other clubs, or investment, etc. The post may not be wrong. But, what you also need to think about is the fact that...imo...the value of players is being ridiculous. Craig Bellamy for 12 million, Berbatov for around 30, and there's many more where that came from. If you rewind back to maybe 5 or so years ago, or even 10, would the same players have cost this much? I think that's part and parcel of where football is at the moment, it's very money driven and has been that way for quite some time. It's all about expanding, I guess. And, with anything, if there's money to be made, then the idea will get the go-ahead. A global or European league, as Ramar says, is going against the rest of the world at this time. It's not viable, right now. But, I do think that some strides will be made towards this over the coming years. Whether or not it's a good thing for football, I don't know. About Rangers and Celtic going the English Premier League: I just checked the AA Roadplanner, and it's nigh on 7 hours to travel from Arsenal's ground to Celtic's ground. Haha, that'd be one hell of a journey.

The Calzaghe ads are a bit...rubbish. There needs to be more to promote this. This is going to be my "congratulations, you've finished Uni" game. Hoping to pick this up in the first week of June. Little King's Story should be my "congratulations, you've got your first teaching job" game. Hoping to pick that up sometime in June.

Well, they seem very focused on creating games for the Wii, so I just hope that continues. It would be a nice little boost for High Voltage if Nintendo did take them onboard. But, at the same time, I think they want to do things their own particular way, and not have Nintendo breathing down their necks, maybe? Edit: Read's Portlett's post...ducks for cover.

I agree, DuDe (haha), the box could have done with more to show what type of game it is. I look at it, and I see "Stargate" "Olympics Game (I dunno why but I see that somehow)" and "Adventure." I don't see first person shooter. It's not a bad boxart, but it's not the best. In the end, the box won't bother me, but I hope it doesn't leave the un-informed feeling a bit confused as to what it actually is. But, then again, that's what the back of the box is for, too. Screenies, info, etc.

That would be the main worry for me, I guess. When I saw the first screenshot, I thought it was a successor to Dewy's Adventure, as I spotted the character right in the middle looking somewhat like Dewy. But, took an extra second to realise he was underwater and "Dewy" was just hit hat...haha. It could be good, but it also could fail in what it tries to do. More info and hands-on needed.

Oh my god, oh my God, oh My God. I need a fucking translation! Loved the first. Want this.

27th May 2009. Not only is today the day of the Champions League Final, but it is also the day that I finally sat up and took notice of what High Voltage were aiming to do. It seems they are already cult heroes. In time, they could be as important to us as RARE once were. It's important to have third parties out there doing games that Nintendo themselves wouldn't. What would be the point in buying third party games, otherwise? It's only a tiny bit of a shame that we didn't have this sort of mindset from other third parties right at the start.
-
Personally, I think this could turn out pretty well. It's different to what's out there, and I think High Voltage are just aiming in giving Wii owners some variety. There aren't a lot of shooters, racers or fighters on the Wii, so there's always room for expansion in these areas.

Wow, I played Samba Di Amigo Wii yesterday as my housemate bought it for her brother. It's bluddy awesome and addictive. Sure, the controls do take some getting used to, but it's great fun. Pretty much a must-buy for me now.

Happy Champions League Final Day, Guys.

Use your head, Dwarf. A striker or forward who gets into the right spaces at the right time? That's...pretty much the first thing you want from your strikers. Being in the thick of the action. Sure, he might have missed a guilt-edged chance...but that's part and parcel of being a striker. You might miss the one easy chance, yet you'll probably end up scoring a much more difficult goal in the next game. That's life. Strikers get these chances, and if these strikers put away every chance they had...then Adebayor would be Arsenal's all time leading goalscorer, Rooney and Tevez would be in triple figures and Anelka would have TWO Golden Boots, haha.

A Thread About Accents (And Not Sexuality)
Fierce_LiNk replied to My Buttons are Magic!'s topic in General Chit Chat
Ine, Jay and ViPeR/Joe have all met me and heard me speak, so maybe they'll know about my accent than I can explain. Basically: - I look Asian as my Grandfather is from Pakistan. - However, my Grandmother is from Rochdale (ManchesterLandSia) - I grew up in South Wales - I have spent the last 4 years in Brighton with people from London, Kent, Brightonians, that sorta area. So, my accent is fucked. I think it sounds more Northern than anything, with a tiny bit of Welsh trickling in every here and there. Although, I do think a few of my words are becoming Dutchified...particularly the word "Good." I dunno what I sound like. -
Oh, I didn't say they were the only good reserve team. But, some of these players have come in and out of the first team anyway, so it's good to know that if certain players are out, others can and will come in and do the job well. It's good to know that if, say, Evra is out, we have Fabio and now De Laet who can fill in and do it well, with John O'shea and maybe one or two others who can play in that position as well. When you consider that, it's frightening. I think half of the battle for Newcastle will be in the boardroom. That'll really determine whether or not they bounce straight back. To tell you the truth, I feel sorry for the fans and the players, because what has gone on in recent years has been nothing short of farcical. Me and my mate were also talking about St. James' Park earlier, and how strange it'll be to see a stadium like that in the Championship. It still hasn't sunk in yet that they're down. edit: Also, Congratulations Villa Reserves, haha.

Shino: Sweet gentle love. One day, I will penetrate you, and I promise not to make you cry, for it will be sweet, my sweet gentle lover. HWOAR HWOAR! I remember counting my Wii games collection and comparing it to my Cube lot. Bearing in mind, there are tons of games for both consoles that I just didn't get around to owning, and also the Wii is my Uni console, meaning I haven't bought as many games for it as I would have liked due to a rapeage of funds. I'd have to say that the Wii is fastly becoming my most played Nintendo console, just after the N64. It's catching up. I'll probably surpass 30 Wii games by the end of the year, and that's on a tight budget maybe. I don't even own Mario Kart or Metroid Prime 3. But, what I can say is that some of the games that I have bought are definitely different, and are probably what I'd call "great games." ExciteTruck and de Blob are two games that I do not believe that I saw on the list, and I'd say that they are both great games. There's also a few that I'd say are good games, kinda like Dewy's Adventure, although I need to play more of it until I decide whether or not it is "great" or just "very good". Heh. And, to be honest, there will always be people who knock the Wii, just like there will be people who knock Manchester United. If it's successful, it's instantly cool to hate it. There's also the fact that...I don't honestly think that the people who knock the Wii are the ones who will actually go out on a limb and buy these "different" or "great" games in the first place. Looking at that Wii games collection thread a few days back, you can blatantly tell that there are great games already on the system, but people choose to ignore them.

Today was a pleasing result for the game against Hull. I hope anyone who had any doubts about Fergie actually watched the game and saw how we played. To say that these guys are young is one thing, but to say that they played with such maturity and conviction is another. Our left back today has barely even kicked a ball with the likes of Wes Brown or Darren Fletcher, but he came in today and did a very, very good job. He's Belgian, too, so I gave Ine a little message to say "yaaaaaay" haha. I thought Gibson's strike was excellent, and you can definitely tell that the team was missing that little bit of experience, particularly defensively once or twice, with Rafael getting caught out slightly, or Neville making a tiny mistake or two. But, I don't think Hull every really made us panic, bar a shot or two. Saying that, we didn't create as much as we would have liked, but the goal was enough. Gibson and then Possebon totally bossed the midfield when they came on. If this is our "reserve" team, then....I can't fucking wait for next season. I'm sorry to see West Brom, Boro and Newcastle go down, but that's the way the league works. I think it'll be good for each team, as they'll only come back stronger, particularly Newcastle. I've been feeling it for a while with them, and there's just no structure or leadership in the team at the moment. They choose when they want to play, and that's not right. You play every game of the season like it's your last, that's fighting spirit. If anything, I'd like to see some hunger at the club, to just see some players who want to play football and want to impress. If Newcastle can sustain this, they'll come back up in no time. With Boro and West Brom, I feel that they'll probably be one of these teams that'll yo-yo for a while. Apparantly West Brom have been up and down 3 times in 6 years, is that correct? If anything, they just need to build a solid squad, and to ensure that they're not too easy to beat. Boro couldn't score this season if their life depended on it, and yet they let in too many goals at the other end. They need to tighten up there, and bring in some players who can score goals. Not only a striker, but players who can provide goals from all over the place. Byebye Premier League of this season. It's been great, and I can't wait to see you again.

My friend believes that all four teams at the bottom will lose today...and I'm tempted to agree. Personally, I feel the biggest game of the day is between Aston Villa and Newcastle. If Newcastle fail to win that (and given the fact that I can't see Boro winning either) then I think they go down. Newcastle and Boro could still both win today and both go down anyway, that's the dilemma. I predict Hull to lose against Man Utd 2-0. Sunderland to lose 3-0. Boro to lose 2-1. And, finally, Villa to get a 1-0 against Newcastle.

The size issue is something of a weakness for me, but luckily not as bad as it seems to be for Tom Cruise. I don't know how tall I am in all honesty...I measured myself at home and came to 5 9, then Ine measured me and said I was 5 6 or 7, and then my housemates later said "noo, you're a bit taller than that." So, between 5 foot 6 and 9. Fucking small.

Here's some pictures from the Graduation Ball last night: I'm on the left, with my housemate (flirty dude) in the middle, and a friend's boyfriend on the right. My adopted date for the night is in the middle. I'm holding a picture of my housemate, who contracted Meningitis a few days ago, meaning she couldn't come to the Ball.

Sorry, but if you look at the ones causing a fuss in the first place, it's the elite. If a game doesn't appeal to you, just don't buy it, that's pretty obvious. But, when the game was first shown, the boxart and bits of info, so many, many gamers instantly dismissed this as a mini-game fest, or a horribly butchered attempt at a new game into the series. People didn't give this a chance to start with, and if we base games on the way that they look then how are games like Little King's Story, de Blob or even something like The Wind Waker expected to sell well if they feature a different or unusual character or graphical style? Again, like others have stated before me, this IS a game that we want to play. It's taking the core elements from ExciteTruck, the game before it, and expanded on them. We wanted online, we got that. We wanted more things to do, we have that. The majority of fuss is over the character-direction, but is it honestly even that bad as it's made out to be? Look at the game in motion, and honestly it looks like ExciteTruck on steroids. It'll play that way, too. What does it matter if you play using bikes, trucks, bots or animals? The worrying thing is that so many people are resenting this change, and it seems like a fair few just wanted ExciteTruck kept the same with online. Well, fair play, if that's what you want...but it honestly would literally be the same game you've already played with an online mode. With this new direction, there are so many more things that can be done, hence the more defined focus on tricks.
