  1. It feels like publishers are putting out multiple content drops as E3 goes on to keep the conversation going rather than put all their eggs in one basket. There seems to be a lot of extra information on things the day after reveals. Edit: but yeah would have been good to have gotten that in the Xbox showcase itself.
  2. I've not watched it yet but Ubisoft put up an interview with the devs...
  3. The world feels a lot more open in this game. Much as I loved Kingdom Battle the overworld was a bit claustrophobic.
  4. Interesting! Thanks for doing some digging, it makes sense because the similarities between Somerville and Inside were obvious. Very apt name for a studio! Hoping to see Playdead's next game sometime soon?! It's been 5 years since their last! But if they keep the quality up it'll definitely be worth the wait.
  5. Yeah I'd like a clearer progression system. They did a decent job in 4 of slowly unlocking events as you go, but it was still pretty overwhelming and I could never figure out the various cars they showered you with.
  6. It's a real shame gameplay demos + dev interviews with outlets like IGN don't seem to be a thing this year, for obvious reasons. That's a big appeal of E3 for me, seeing gameplay + having the devs talk us through it. I guess Treehouse will be that tomorrow, surprised more publishers haven't copied the format by now. Actually EA does it too I think.
  7. The static shots of the landscape that quickly became gameplay were very effective. Stunning looking game, love the look of that creator mode too.
  8. This probably belongs in the E3 memories thread but Nintendo's collaboration with Robot Chicken in 2014 was amazing. That was my favourite "conference" ever, so fun and creative. It was the year we were first shown amiibo, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Breath of the Wild (the animated background behind Aonuma turning into a teaser trailer) and Yoshi's Woolly World.
  9. I guess I can't get too worked up over a Holiday 2022, or an exact date. I always thought people liked firm release dates to be announced. I'm sure they're confident enough, and if it gets delayed, add it to the pile with pretty much every other AAA game. I also don't think that "insiders" claiming false information and actual leaks have done much for this E3's perception. Be it Mario + Rabbids, Horizon 4 and whatever else (I don't pay attention to them to know) I was fine with it but the general sentiment online was definitely mostly disappointment due to lack of games. Which in hindsight is weird given what they showed. Fingers crossed!
  10. I dunno, the game is still a year and a half away, given that fact it's probably a good thing to hold back on gameplay until we get closer to release. We've heard from plenty of sources that creating an E3 demo takes a lot of time and effort, that could be better spent elsewhere. Plus publishers have seen all too often how gameplay footage is scrutinised and when something doesn't end up in the final game gamers cry foul and demand why not, or whine about downgraded puddles or steam etc. I'm not into CG trailers more often than not but I quite enjoyed them setting the tone in the Starfield trailer anyway. I also don't think that publishers care if internet gamers feel it was a "good E3" or a bad one, they want to market their games and get people talking about them. Unless there's a major disaster like Halo Infinite last year, it's job done for the majority of cases. It's like the Switch January presentation, everyone was talking about how much of a disaster it was... and then the Switch became the fastest selling console ever. I guess I went into this E3 with decent but lowered expectations, and it's pretty much met them. It's all too easy to get caught in the hype cycle with gaming, especially reading message boards, rumours from "insiders" etc. As for Nintendo, again lowering expectations would be a good idea. They're focusing on games out in the next 6 months, there won't be many megatons. BOTW2 trailer (but quite easily not gameplay) + a new first party reveal for Q4 and that'd be a good foundation.
  11. Not sure what people were expecting from this E3 given the 18 months we've just had. Xbox have a ton of games coming out (unlike Sony frankly, probably why they skipped E3) in the next twelve months. I've been making a list of new game reveals from the various shows and it's already at over a dozen I'll definitely be picking up.
  12. The dialog options and progression choices were interesting, I just wish the characters could have STFU for longer than one and a half seconds. Especially after that 57 minute gameplay demo.
  13. Tough crowd part 2. Excellent showing, Phil Spencer continues to do great work. Game Pass the easiest sell in video games Red Fall looks really interesting! Sufficed to say the "Xbox has no games" argument no longer applies. Just a shame no Starfield gameplay, but if it's Nov 2022, probably for the best.
  14. Forza Horizon continues to be the best looking series in gaming. My god, just stunning.
  15. Top Gun expansion in a game. I've waited 34 of my 36 years for this.
  16. By far. Incredible advertisement for Game Pass, (as if it needed any more advertising)
  17. Replaced looks amazing! I thought it was The Last Night for a second
  18. Tough crowd. That Halo multiplayer looked ridiculously fun and next gen
  19. Is Somerville supposed to be a Playdead game?? Sure looked like it.
  20. Yeah I don't get it either. If anything the first game looks better. But their tweets got them noticed, so job done I suppose.
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut Yoshi, but who knows. The only thing that's a tad concerning is the battle mechanics seem to be a lot simpler from what they showed. That and their comment about wanting to make the game accessible to all. But if it's just early alpha footage, maybe that explains it.
  22. This was obviously a mistake whereas the leak for Kingdom Battle was deliberate, just for internet points. Since then Emily Rogers doesn't seem to leak actual titles anymore. The footage didn't show Rabbid Mario but he's on the key art, so they're probably holding some characters back. Dunno who the new purple/green character is supposed to be.
