  1. And while they're at it, reinstate the feather as an item and fix battle mode starting with a proper course:
  2. They do work for those games, I just personally don't like that style very much for Zelda, apart from Wind Waker which dove straight into the cartoon vibe. Skyward Sword tried to have it's feet in both camps and it ended up being pretty forgettable to a lot of people. The original few Zelda games were far more serious than these days. Now we have things like clowns, trains, robots, Tingle etc. I dunno, I just wish they would reboot and go back to the vibe of the NES and SNES games, for at least one game. I replayed Zelda II quite recently, one of my favourite games of all time. You really felt like you were on an epic journey, moving from one area to the next without any backtracking (well unless you game over). Nowadays the "exploration" tends to be based around a conveniently centred hub world, Hyrule Field, with branching paths to the various themed locations. The sky/overworld in SS was the worst offender of all, it was an utter joke. I really hope Zelda U brings the series back to its roots.
  3. Considering the SNES courses look stunning re-imagined, the retro tracks I'd love to see in future DLC:
  4. It would also open up a lot of creative possibilities by having a start and end point, as we saw in Mount Wario: starting in a helicopter and finishing at the finish line, complete with arena-like crowd.
  5. I hope they ditch 3 lap tracks in MK9 and make them all 1 long course like the masterpiece that is Mount Wario.
  6. Completely agree. It works in Wind Waker because they throw themselves at it. Skyward Sword felt like a game where they tried to please everyone, when they need to realise the two riskier games Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are two of the most loved recent games. More of this Less of this I'm not saying it has to be dark and gritty but a little less pastel colours, silly characters and places called Fun Fun Island.
  7. "beta-male" haha love it, and suitably apt for someone not liking NES graphics!
  8. I like Ice Ice Outpost, apart from having the coolest name of the lot, it looks really nice and has narrow tracks, something that's always welcome.
  9. I found the world of Skyward Sword a bit wishy washy to be honest. As catchy as the Pumpkin duet music is, it's just far too upbeat and flowery. I miss old Zelda games' darker, more medieval tone like in the original LOZ and Zelda II, but even so far as OOT and MM. The series has just gotten way too whimsical in my opinion.
  10. I'd like to get this digitally as it seems like the perfect title for casual play, trouble is it's £35 in the eShop!!!
  11. @Wii, I thought you hated Reggie and his "lies", you want to listen to two hours of PR speak from him? I really liked their Digital Event this year, it was a fun mix of trailers, dev diaries, the Robot Chicken sketches etc. No time wasting just game after game. I'd actually prefer if they keep the same format for next year. Maybe go back to a stage show for big console reveals but for just game announcements leave as is
  12. I find it really hard to believe this has been in development for three years
  13. The day stages of Unleashed were great yeah but the trouble is making a 5-10 hour game out of just that would be a hell of a lot of work I'd imagine.
  14. I thought the common perception was E3 had a great showing last year and comfortably "won" the show. I loved their Digital Event, great fun presentation.
  15. I don't think you know what berated means...
  16. Once again in English please? Let that be a lesson to all of us, don't post Simpsons picture jokes, it really winds @Wii up.
  17. It's strange how forgettable Skyward Sword is, and I can't see it gaining much popularity once Zelda U comes out. Putting aside issues like OTT handholding, disconnected overworld, empty sky etc, I wonder what made the game so meh. I do remember loving it at the time, but history doesn't seem to have been kind for some reason.
  18. !!! and how cold I forget Cobra Triangle!!! Amazing game Let's take a trip back to the 1980s.... Audio Audio Audio
  19. Marble Madness, Wrecking Crew, Bart Simpson v the Space Mutants, Ice Climber, Bubble Bobble...........
  20. !!!! Get out.... /jk I assume you didn't grow up playing them then?
  21. SNES Rainbow Road looks stunning but as others have said the track is a little too wide. Ice Ice Outpost is pretty forgettable but visually it looks quite nice. Hyrule Circuit is great filled with lots of little details. Not too keen on the music though, it makes me feel like I'm driving around in Hyrule Warriors, rather than proper Zelda. Has anyone used their horn as Tanooki Mario? Love the nostalgic sound effect
  22. It's music like this, OOT and Wind Waker's soundtrack, compared with the shocker that was Skyward Sword's music that make me think orchestral music in Zelda might not be a great fit most of the time.
  23. Apparently this is getting ripped to pieces by gamers and reviews for being very same old same old and some shocking performance issues?
  24. I know, great isn't it. How many exclusive 9-10/10 games do the other two consoles have? I take your point but the fact that the Wii U has 10x the number of exclusives make up for a lack of a few big multiplatform games IMO.
