Wow just beat a second Cait a couple of hours after my first!
-
Looks like a bag of skittles exploded all over the screen, very nice! Looks fun, will add to Watch list.

Totally blanked out when I posted that!! I haven't encountered the secondary job system yet so maybe that'll make things easier to manage, cheers

Can I ask you guys how you're managing your party? At the moment I really enjoy using Cyrus, Ophelia and H'annit (have you found her yet @Hero-of-Time, very very useful!!), but I feel like I need to share the xp around so I'm using the fouth slot for newcomers and ones I'm not too keen on (Alfyn, Therion). Do you guys swap out your whole party or do as I do and concentrate on three mains. (Actually, I don't like Ophelia that much, her heal is useful for bosses but not much else in battle.)

Beat a Cait this morning, wow. I was like at the rewards

It's a pretty common complaint people have, of it not impressing in the first few hours. I was the same, but hour 5 - 50....

I'm glad you're going back to Hollow Knight, I think it's a genuinely incredible game. I keep thinking back to my time with it, so good.

Ophelia's intro chapter was PAINFULLY long and drawn out. I'm enjoying the various storylines but her one was really getting tedious, so I appreciated how few words there were in H'aanit's one. I know I probably sound dumb but it's weird being given all these side mission quests and pretty much zero guidance where to go or what to do with them. I'm used to modern games giving you dotted likes and map markers lol

Picked up Ophelia and H'annit, they're both good and seem to complement Cyrus really well. What about you, have you seen everyone now? Am I right in thinking that you find 8 characters but can only have a team of 4 at any one time? I guess it helps to keep swapping people in and out to level them up.

Really frustrating when one of your party has passed out and you unexpectedly beat a boss and he/she doesn't get XP
-
D'oh, my Firefox browser mixes up tab headings and it said this was the Octopath page, honest!

Surprising to hear you say that. For me, hardware wise it's obviously much more appealing (lack of web browser apart but I just use my phone or iPad for that) and software wise, there's just no comeptition... Switch is currently on pace to reach 1,000 games by the end of this year (Dec 31st, 2018). It took Wii U over five years to accumulate over 750+ games. 3DS accumulated 1304 games over the course of 7 years. In 16 months it's accumulated an amazing library of games, first party, third party and indie.

Yeah eventually noticed the signposts. Just did Ophelia's intro chapter, I stupidly used like 4 or 5 full HP revives in that battle, then when I didn't use any more and I won the fight, Ophelia didn't get an XP, D'OH. Never mind.

Sorry about all the help, seems like I need it! Yes I went into Whistlewood assuming that was the right way, will head north instead
-
I survive about one or at most two turns in the forest leading to Ophilia, the area is level 15 and I'm only 7, not sure I can go that way to be honest
-
Oh I figured it would keep the HP on screen throughout the battle, never mind. Yeah I figured the yellow/red text thing, thanks. To be honest the analyse skill isn't that useful in the early game, Cyrus only has 1 weapon and fire/ice attacks, so I'm limited on what I can use. Sure it'll be handy later on though. After Cyrus' opening chapter you left his town and could go up or down, somewhat equal number of characters above and below to find, north was only Lv 15+ areas, south was Lv 1 areas. Sufficed to say, I went south.

Thanks I'll have a look. Weird, I must have tried the BASIC CONCEPT of pressing A on an item but it didn't seem to work, will try again when I'm next on
-
I can use analyse, I just can't see where it then shows an enemy's HP ! And I tried going into the inventory but there didn't seem to be an option to use any of the items, it just listed them. Must have missed something.

Put 2 or 3 hours into this and really loving it. Just reached my second town, the battle system is loads of fun. I would say though I'm using up healing grapes CONSTANTLY, after three hours of play I must have used about ten of them, hopefully that's normal lol. Went with Cyrus in the end, I like his fire/ice attacks that can hit multiple enemies like you said @Glen. I bought his Analyse skill that's supposed to reveal an enemy's HP but I can't see it anywhere. Am I being thick or is there no way to use healing items etc outside of battle? I go into the menu and it doesn't seem to give me the option to use anything. I'm probably being dumb. PS: the game looks so good on the handheld screen! I once got zero XP for beating a random baddie in the overworld, couldn't figure out why. Maybe something we're missing.

Don't buy anything!
-
Don't buy an iPhone X then, taking a £900 device out you could drop, lose or have stolen. I'll never understand people who say the Switch has 2 games. It's insane to me, there's a ton of fantastic games on the thing. Don't you love your Vita? The Switch is that + actual first party support.
-
I'll take "console + handheld as a bonus" over "console".
-
The PS4 might be getting most of those games but it can't play them portable. That's the Switch trump card and why a lot of people choose indie games on Switch rather than PS4. I mean... there'll be other games in the next three or four years so you might as well jump in now. It's selling so well I can't see a massive price drop any time soon, maybe 20 or 30 quid off bundles by the end of the year but that's about it.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't recast Pike to be female. Looks fun though, much needed after last year. Hopefully the writing is much, much improved, needs to be.
