General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Serebii replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Console sales aren't about heavy hitters, though they do help, it's about momentum and that's what the Wii U lacks. Home consoles don't do well in Japan in general. This is a fact so the Wii U was never going to do well. Its sales have been middling to poor, except in times of major releases. This is not sustainable. What they need to somehow do is build momentum with it. It's what happened with the 3DS. Price cut in August with a Pokémon game. Shot up to 200k in one week, dropped to 100k and then continued to drop to a baseline of around 40,000. The games weren't there yet, but there was a promise of it. The games were known and they were just weeks away. The Wii U's baseline should be just over half that, considering it's a home console November came. BAM, Mario. December came. BAM, Monster Hunter December continued. BAM, Mario Kart. The situation was similar in the west with it being October Pokémon, November Mario and December Mario Kart. What the Wii U really needed was DKC or Mario Kart this winter for a similar one-two of strong games as well as a strong marketing. They're trying with the marketing now. They will never get the hardcore crowd...there was never any chance of that, even if the Wii U was more powerful than the PS4 it wouldn't have been possible. They're now trying to win back the family crowd. Will it work? I don't know, it's possible. -
A result of today's Direct

Was this in the Direct? I don't remember it

What I think/hope they'll do is run the system. It'll have you register it. You enter in the name, it checks the system. If name exists, it asks you to put in password. If not, you register through as a different NNID Next month...so probably March :p

I'm fairly certain they'd work a way to prevent that. Seriously.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Serebii replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I did. With a price cut and tantalising bundles, you need to follow it up with software. Yes, Mario is next week and that'd do it, but for the weeks that follow, it's empty. If I recall correctly, Vita had this. The 3DS drop after that price cut was pretty drastic too. It essentially halved, just like this. -
No :p My friends turned into ones who think games where you shoot people are the only ones that are fun. Seriously, you should see their game collections...it's shocking. My Nintendo loving friends are unfortunately a one hour train journey away. Also, Nintendo Network IDs are password protected, that's what stops people registering other people's.

I used to when I had friends who weren't lame.

"Q: I have used Nintendo eShop in different regions, and I have funds in multiple currencies in my balance. What will happen to these funds after I register a Nintendo Network ID? A: After registering a Nintendo Network ID, you will be unable to change regions and use multiple currencies – for instance, pounds and euros – in Nintendo eShop. The funds in the currency that corresponds to the country setting of your Nintendo Network ID will remain, and any funds in other currencies will be deleted and no longer usable. Please make sure to use up any other currencies before registering a Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo 3DS system."

No different to every other Xbox One game then. Must just be a massive glitch that makes it unplayable

From the NOA one, they are doing special deals every week from now on. Hopefully NOE do this http://www.nintendo.com/eshop/offers This week, Zelda VC games are reduced. Next week, Mega Man, the following week Mario and the week after, Donkey Kong

So close...

Miiverse will be from the system menu In case there was any doubt Then don't pay attention to spoilers
-
That's a silly question :p
-
Not their fault that if it's not Mario, guns or football, nobody bothers to buy any games. </SlightHyperbole>

How can a game play like a game in a different genre?
-
Really? Because many reviewers came out saying that the statement about it being too short and too easy were wrong. As has been discussed here, Mario games are always "short" and "easy" to rush through from start to finish, doing as little as possible. The challenge is in the finding of secrets, the hidden levels etc.
-
Oh right...well then, guess that means Killzone is just another Halo. CoD another Medal of Honor etc. That sort of reasoning is the thing that is wrong with the current gaming community, and what is wrong with people here. Come on...use your bloody head. Also, it's not short, and easy is relative.

What the frak are you on about? This is the second in the Super Mario 3D series. It's nothing like NSMB except in that it has Mario and has Mario style visuals. Also, Galaxy 2 was 3 years ago

I would say the pricing scheme for Europe for Pokémon Bank is likely

Watched it last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Decent movie and I'm intrigued to see how it'll continue in SHIELD. I do have a few things though. Mostly due to the mid-credits sequence. For those who aren't engrossed in the Marvel universe, or who have only watched the movies like a couple of my friends, they mean absolutely nothing and are left entirely confused. I get the idea to set things up, but for the general movie viewing populace, it means nothing. It was the same with Thanos at the end of Avengers. Half my friends were asking who it was.

Not aimed at us. Cringey as hell, but that sort of advert could work on families. So they're not allowed to aim for demographics other than the hardcore brogamer who have already dismissed Nintendo? Ok.

Nope. No word. Maybe we'll get a Chotto Direct overnight
