I'll admit my first impressions of him were not good. I just thought he was a weirdo wearing a mascot costume for some reason. Once I found out he was a furry, it at least explained it, but it was his enthusiasm and happiness that won me over. He seems like a genuinely happy, awesome guy. I think it speaks volumes about someone if they hate someone so happy. Disliking, sure, everyone's different, but I don't know how anyone can actually hate someone like him.

I still think Red Dead should have won, but at least it got best narrative and a few others. Its story and they way it told it was a whole new level, so I'm glad it at least got recognised for that. I was excited when they started singing Unshaken, but they really didn't do it justice. Such a flawless song, reduced to mediocrity. I was surprised Nintendo didn't do better, especially in the family category. Would have thought they'd have nailed that one.

Well that went from quivering excitement to complete indifference very quickly. It's Fallout 76 all over again.

The last part of the Celeste acceptance speech was god damned beautiful.

I was surprised about the music one. There are two moments in RDR2 where the music is utterly sublime, but other than that, the music is just background music. Very good background music, but it never really stood out as anything special.

Jesus that guy is tall. Looks like someone added a face to Slenderman.

Heisted, if you will. Also, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 looked like a free to play game to me. Not sure why.

PlayStation Classic Announced (3rd Dec 2018)
Goafer replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Other Consoles
Wow, people really are aching to wank themselves dry at every little thing huh? Unused assets hidden away is so commonplace nowadays that's it's really a non story. Even if it wasn't, it makes literally no difference to the final product. If anything, it shows that they at least tried to get more games on there. -

I think emulating 3d hardware reliably is just a bit too much of a stretch at this point, especially on budget systems such as this. If the games were optimised for the system, then there may be more success, but trying to emulate the original console requires more grunt, which is clearly beyond the sort of hardware that gets put into these things. -

I'd like to stress Persona 5. It's an incredible game. Not quite up to Persona 4 in terms of characters and story, but far surpasses it in terms of gameplay and level design. Plus the consistently high presentation is just beautiful. I could fanboy over P5 all day.

So Revelations: Persona sells for about the same price as the PS Classic (More if you want a boxed version). Certainly good value if you want to play that. I don't though, so meh. -

A good comparison: I've noticed 50hz when going back to Sonic after listening to the soundtrack for a while. It all depends on the game really. I don't think it's a huge deal, but then I was never going to buy the PS Classic anyway. Also, from what I saw on the Giant Bomb quick look, it looks like they might have sharpened up the games a bit, but that may just be because they're displaying in HD. I swear they're not as jagged as I remember though. -

You have been on the internet before, right? That's pretty much how it works around here. -
Unfortunately, it's a drawback of running VR on a console that was never designed to support it. Display has to go out via hdmi, and input is required from the headset, so that needs to go in via USB. I imagine the break out box adds some extra processing power to figure out positions and what visuals to output to match. In terms of what actually sticks out in front of the TV, it's just one (admittedly bulky) cable. I think what they've achieved with the base PS4 is incredible, but I think the PS5 will be a far better experience. The PS4 is just too underpowered to run truly impressive games and it was never designed for VR.

This is the PSVR setup. It's a hell of a mess: Admittedly, it's not too bad once set up, but a tidier approach would be welcome on the PS5.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!

Wonder if anyone has had the stones to just call their band "Band". -
I think they'd have to change the whole car model nowadays as I imagine copyrights are more strict. Let's face it, Outrun wouldn't be the same without Ferraris, or at least their likeness. It's a shame, as Outrun 2006 is probably my second favourite racing game after Sega Rally.
-
Didn't Ferrari basically put an end to Outrun somehow? I seem to remember something happened which essentially stopped any chance of any re-releases.

Went to a Band-Maid concert at the weekend and it was pretty awesome. I kind of wish they didn't go with the maid gimmick, as it makes it a bit awkward, but the music is awesome. And some phone footage (not mine) from the actual gig: -
RDR2's soundtrack was pretty good, although it was more background music than actual music. There were proper songs playing during significant story moments, but only about 3 times throughout the entire game. They were perfect though. It's one of those soundtracks that suits the atmosphere brilliantly, but doesn't really stand out (with the exception of the 2 tracks used during the key story moments).

Most important to you. I'll admit, the gameplay was nothing stellar, but I'd say the story, graphics and characters exceeded everything else by enough to make up for it. I've played countless hours and I still am in awe of the scenery. I haven't used quick travel once, because I just put cinematic view on and just relax and watch the scenery go by. There's a peacefulness (and slight melancholy) to it that I've only ever experienced in Shadow of the Colossus. I haven't played the game for a few days (real life sucks), but I still find myself thinking about the characters and the plot developments. The feels are still there. That to me is why it stands out as one of the best games I've ever played. The feeling. And that is a rarity. Gameplay makes you feel good whilst you're playing it, story and characters make you feel something long after the game has been turned off.

RDR gets my vote hands down. I've watched a playthrough of GoW and whilst it does look good, I think RDR surpasses it in terms of graphics, story and characters. I've not finished the story yet, but what's happened so far has been incredible. For me, it's my game of the generation and a perfect example of mature story telling.
