You started (pages back) by saying that all Brits want too much, which was a massive generalisation and here's another one! Oxigen I'm getting one thing for Christmas that I've bought for myself because I need it. Yes I need to know the time, alright? :P We're not going to get anywhere, I've told you I agree with the idea. This may sound like I'm worked up, but I'm really not.

    Thank you for all the different points of view on my friend's girlfriend! I think I've decided to just ask him how he feels, if he's happy, and take it from there. If he's not happy, he would never be brutally honest in front of her, so I've gotta ask him on his own.

    Haha, she is a total bitch to us. Most other people seem to absolutely adore her because she doesn't treat them like Monica Lewinsky. It's difficult because I want him to be happy but if we start slagging her off, however subtly, we could lose him altogether. But then, if they get married, I feel like we'd never see him again. I mention marriage because they're 23 and have been going out a while, it's a genuine possibility.

    My friend's girlfriend hates all of his female friends. She's totally paranoid, assumes we're all trying to be with him, is fake with the niceties and then outwardly rude when he's not there to hear. She always has to know exactly where he is and is extremely controlling. They argue alot but he seems happy. We've never probed him much about their relationship or told him how we feel, should we?

    Oxigen I feel like you're making such a flawed argument. You buy the nice coats, dvds and books that you want, so what is the point of trying to make other people feel guilty for getting things they want for Christmas. It's idealism gone mad. Yes we should all look beyond material possessions when we're judging character, that's obvious!
