  1. Does anyone else think we should make different threads for different shows? Naruto especially could do with a thread of it's own.
  2. I agree with you on that, but don't you find it odd when people object to: "Which guy?" "The black one." I mean it's identical to saying the guy with brown hair or whatever.
  3. 7/10... you've gotta love TOS. But your name doesn't really fit the rest of the sig.
  4. However, they are harder... though I found GCSE's rather boring. Anyway... time for me to start A2's, and in the case of maths, A3's and 4's.
  5. I guess so... Like Dan Brown! *awaits flaming*
  6. I'd probably agree with you there... after book 3 they stopped editing her stuff, so it went on far too much. Also, the books aren't that good... The first was a good childrens book, but the series doesn't deserve the exaltation it recieves.
  7. We each had to make a £20 deposit at the beginning of 6th form, which is returned at the end as long as nothing is damaged... nobody ever gets it back though. Last year they lost it because they had a barbecue on the last day which melted the tarmac.
  8. Surely if something is poorly written, that makes it bad...
  9. Meh... I don't remember every arc perfectly... Anyway, the next arc has some pretty sick torture early on.
  10. No Rena, no Satoko, no Mion, no Shion! But there is Rika, so I shall forgive them.
  11. Yeah the fourth is a bit different. The 5th is very much like the 2nd, but has an additional bit at the start and is from Shion's perspective. (I'm up to episode 19, so don't give me any spoilers after that)
  12. Well Higurashi originated as a game, which had two more arcs, ending with an overall conclusion which the anime won't have.
  13. I think that they are effectively the same story, but different things happened to occur... For instance, imagine if there was an alternative Harry Potter (the only story I'm sure you'll know ) where Harry didn't meet Ron... this would make the story very different, but Voldemort would still try and kill Harry etc. In the same way, there is still a Watanagashi festival in every chapter of Higurashi. Apart from the fourth chapter (which is set a few years earlier), all the Higurashi chapters are spin-offs like this... so understanding one chapter can help you to understand others. The 5th chapter explains the 2nd, and the 6th explains the 1st, yet they are still alternatives.
  14. Rena is damn scary... Once you've finished episode 4, I can tell you my theory without spoilers.
  15. You probably mean Simon Singh, and Flatterland isn't quite as good, and is more about physics than maths.
  16. That book is brilliant... Ian Stewart wrote a sequel- Flatterland. Actually, I'm reading Ian Stewart at the moment- Life's other secret... It's about the maths of biology.
  17. Has anyone seen Honey and Clover? It's about as far away from Higurashi as possible, but still very good.
  18. Yay! First recruit! Pay attention to everything that happens, try and think of theories etc. Remember that each new chapter is effectively an alternative direction... ie. what could have happened had things happened differently. Only with all the chapters will things become clear, and don't expect to make much sense of things until the 5th chapter. I have a ridiculously complicated theory for the first chapter...
  19. A bit of d thrown in there as well... I assume you mean modified Hepburn romanization. (what everyone uses)
  20. So... I guess I'm the only one who watches Higurashi... The only thing which would give it a high rating is regular murders of/by children... It's actually pretty good...
  21. Mainly, but sounds are produced futher back, and "r" is completley different... have fun trying to correctly pronounce "ryu". Actually, most of Japanese pronunciation is similar to Spanish.
