The possibilities for SSB: rev are endless
david.dakota replied to White_Wolf's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Suggestion. Movement, jumping etc is controlled by waving your wand around. For attacks, press and hold A. And then you flick your baton - the quicker you do this, the harder the smash. Ooo, the sexual innnuendo. -
A sick practice. Signed.

Several sites on TV News are reporting NTL's confirmation this morning to purchase Telwest, forming the UK's second largest telecoms provider - and thankfully a true competitor to BSkyB's monopoly in the Pay TV market. The news of a merger is hardly a surprise, since for some years it has been the logical step for the two cable companies. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4304008.stm http://www.ntl.com/mediacentre/press/presskit/files/802/Press%20Release.pdf

I'd think Zelda will use the Nunchuck style controller. Movement could be made with the analogue stick, A is action button, B is unsheath sword. Z1 (on tear drop attachement) is inventory screen, Z2 erm, something else. Besides, I'm not ripping the wand out of its holster every battle.

I do like Nintendo ON. Nintendo Active, is my personal favourite.

Hopefullly, we'll see WiFi Multiplayer battles - co-operaterative where you take control of a small band of soldiers in a larger army (8 others in a team all with a group) and counter ops too. Let bettle commence. Kuju have made some strong titles and i'm sure they're being noticed by bigger companies. I too remain hopeful they remain an indie (since Nintendo aren't looking at purchasing second party developers.

I'm not sure of memory and technical jargon, so forgive me if i sound like i've crowled out from a cave-house wearing an orange throwover and a blue tie whilst yelling "Yabba Dabba Doo"... With Revolution anncounced as coming with 512MB of Flash memory, just how many downloaded N64 games are we talking about being able to save on the Flash (excluding games saves etc?!). I would imagine hundreds of NES, and SNES games could be saved...?

I get a taste of the revolution.. kinda.

Revolution hardware - the real revolution

A monkeys uncle. -
Nintendo is rumoured to be including a physics processor into Revolution, which i think is a first in video gaming (at least with the Big Three). This is speculation from a variety sources. Assuming Nintendo are including a physics processor, what 'jobs' will this processor do? Manage the explosions of a crate? Bullet holes in the wall? These all seem quite graphics orientated to me... Also, with the current machines, how much processing power is used to create whatever constitutes as 'physics' in a game?

I assume Kun Lan was/is Iwazaru?! A stunning ending, even if we have no idea what happened.

I think its far more likely Nintendo would opt for a WiFi Connection download for demos. They'll be short demos (which does without saying) and therefore should fit on the Flash Memory. It saves on mastering disks anyway. Nintendo arent that keen on demos tho, bear that in mind. Although third parties may take the opportunity.

Its not Romero at his best, although, its a damn site better then most of the zombie films of recent years (28 Days Later excluded... thats "the rage..."). Romero is a master at horror, however Land of the Dead does seem to fall in line with the Resident Evil action type fare, which is (personally) disappointing. Its sadly quite predictable in places too. The idea of building consicence into the Zombie is interesting but never really goes anywhere. Or at least is extremely underlplayed. What Land does is great... Amazing in fact. But it faulters on expectation. Unless of course you expect an absolute bloodbath with heavy weapons and a few loud bangs. 7/10. Worth watching, but check out the original trilogy on the BBC over the coming days.

Official: Capcom Stabs Us In The Back
david.dakota replied to david.dakota's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'm not saying its a bad idea. Perhaps, how I should have phrased this is 'should capcom release an add-on game containing these 5 extra hours of gameplay? -
Don't know wether this has been been reported before, but Capcom are adding an additional five hours of gameplay to Resident Evil 4 in the form of "Seperate Ways" - detailing Ada's journey more fully. For more details, visit http://ps2.ign.com/articles/653/653900p2.html

Revolution and shelf space... an important issue...?
david.dakota replied to knightendo's topic in Nintendo Gaming
All shops have one sole aim. To make money. Business objectives, shareholders and overheads all dictate what and where things are sold. I'm not convinced that Sony could pay to have a prime spot - does anyone have any legal knowledge here. I'd think there could be some legislation against this. However, Nintendo needs to reaslise that Revolution is up against some heavy competition. Say what we like about Sony and Microsoft, but the fact remains that both manufacturers have been far more successful that Nintendo this generation. NIntendo needs killer apps, strong support, an outstanding marketing strategy (not necessarily TV adverts for those who seem to think Marketing is solely TV adverts) and good word of mouth. -
With only two weeks left until the release of Giest in Europe (7th October), lets open up a topic to discuss Nintendo's spooky shooter. Average reviews give the game a respectable, if slightly disapointing (considering the delays and development time), 71% over at Gamerankings.com - but this is certainly a controvertial game with some reviewers awarding an excellent 85-90% score and others awarding a dire 50%. Have you imported the game? Whats your opinion of it - would you recomend it to fellow gamers? Are you waiting for the European release? Are you simply not bothered by this game? Discuss to your hearts content.

Is anyone else slightly freaked out by The Reginator?

Nintendo Revolution- A grab bag of speculation. (Long)
david.dakota replied to BlkPaladin's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Some good ideas. But I think its safe to say that we'll not see "homebrew" titles on Revolution. Its not something that NIntendo have ever supported and has no quantifiable value to them. -
Not really. I'm still going to get an Xbox 360 for one or two titles which tickle my fancy - Too Human being one of them. Thats probably a few years off tho - possibly on XBOX 720.

I'm not sure ports are the best way to describe multiformat games. GC Bond: From Russia With Love isn't a port of the PS2/XBox version. Its being developed alongside them. EXG3 was a port, since it was developed from the existing PS2 code. Thats the difference, i believe. Multiformat games are essential. Not having them would be a disaster for Nintendo, since EA's sports titles (sadly) are a reason many buy into gaming, along with other multiformat titles. Nintendo will no doubt do their best to encourage developers to use the motion tracking function on these titles, but many may choose not to.

Looking at some of the problems the new Baton Controller presents for some games and Nintendo's desire to make a tradition controller, I'm startiung to think that Nintendo should create standard controllers, along with the control peripheral for the Baton. For example, a standard wireless controller based on the GC design could be bundled in the pack - along with the baton. This would send out a clear message that both are important as eachother. To simplify things further, Nintendo could develop a method for Revolution to identify which controller is needed to play a particular game - perhaps the blue channel light at the bottom could flash? EA have already stated that Revolution is not a priority for next generation - and with the masses of people who will consider these titles important to their purchase, Nintendo could loose a great deal of market share based solely on EA. Understandably, Nintendo are looking at the Shell Controller, but since it is essentially a peripheral, it might send out the wrong message.

I have never smoked - and it ruins my life! Unfortunately, although no medical diagnosis has been made I can barely breath in a smokey room. Start wheezing, eyes water, feel nausious and basically get pissed off. By the next morning I have dirty black bogies which block my sinuses completely. I think people do have a right to smoke, if they so wish. But I (and others) have a right to clean air too. Smokers should also be forced to pay a heafty levy for NHS treatment of smoking related ilnesses.
