Great news! We can now exchange our Stars points for Wii points, but i've just tried this after an evening of server failure at the wii point shop, to find that there are no cards available and so my points are sitting there as usual... Is this right? Could the wii points shop turn out as understocked as its stars catalogue predecessor?

There's an old NES game called Faxanadu, which is in desperate need for a wii-make or wii-imagining. The game centred on some chap tavelling a world in drout, having to fight monsters and solve a few puzzles here and there. Firstly, its al well and good cloning Twlight Princess, however, i'd like something altogether new, so a 1st person action RPG is in order. Controls: Tilting nunchuck left/right will turn, while the control stick is for general movement. A is your action button, while B draws your sword (and acts as a Lock on also). Character is given a two 'health bars'... on is a standard health (if you attacked, and you're health is dropped...) the second is your Hydration. You are at your peak when fully hydrated - your response is quicker, your sight better, and you move faster. You must then ensure that you drink as regularly as possible. Attack is mainly one-one sword fighting - its not been pulled off on Wii yet, and this is te game that should nail it..! Crazy water based puzzles are also the order of the day. And i think thats now sorted!

To me it always looked like a mash'em up, with simple controls. It was never going to be earth shattering, but just looked a fun, albiet shallow, knee trembler.

Agreed. The Wii can hold more than enough data for cut scenes and audio. I don't see why, firstly, we have a "softer" visual look, when games like RE4 look so stunning, and secondly why we get a cut down mini-game-a-like. The multiplayer options are all well and good, but why comprimise the single player experience.

Since it's Wii's first (European) birthday later this week, i'd imagine the relaunch will take place then..?

I've just done a speed check on my BB provider, and its come up with 338kbps. Seems low... I was expecting around at least a 1mg connection, but more likely 2mg (we're far from the local exchange, and i think BT use straw for the cabling). Obviously, its peak time, but even so,is this (as I suspect} about a third of a meg?!

I'm trying to sort out my missus' laptop. But its well and truly rogered - there's not been any virus protection for years, and SP1 onwards were never download. Now, i've tried windows update - comes up with an error code. Also, tried AVG to install free virus protection and the files are corrupted. Any ideas?

"We Need Locking Mechanisms On The Car Doors"
david.dakota replied to david.dakota's topic in Nintendo Gaming
whats the codestorm email address? -
Random Jurassic Park quotes aside, i recall seeing a picture of a new Wii wrist strap, this revised version included a locking mechanism (not such a random quote now) to ensure the wrist strap does not come loose during vigorous use of the Length of Joy (AKA the Wii Remote). Nintendo previously supplied emails/contact forms for upgrading items- such as wrist straps and jackets. Is there a way of getting these lockable wrist straps for our good Fiends at Nintendo Europe?

NoE website update-could stars be coming?
david.dakota replied to flameboy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
reading their news site, it looks as if there will be a delay on bringing online the new site. -
i've never had any difficulty in using the nunchuck. However, perhaps with the other controllers, your left wrist is being supported by the controller- which its self is being supported by your right hand?

i have some voucher codes for free sky+ and free install. If you're interested, please pm me.

shockingly, despite some lower than expected reviews, i'm thinking of the simpsons game as a stop gap until the true master of platforming adventure arrives on Friday. I'm a great fan of the series. However, i've not read much on the game, but am fully aware the camera is not up to scratch. What other negative points does this game have? Also, which console has the best version of the game- is the wii version an improvement of others?
-
and how do the hardware sales compare to the competition?

Seriously, i don;t think it makes a big difference. Most HDTV will upscale Wii, but it won't be 'HD', just clearer and shaper perhaps. Its an improvement, but i'd put my money in a surround sound system - ideally ProLogic 2 for Wii - and invest in a good sub too. This is where you're going to find the biggest improvement to Wii. I have a sub hooked up since Cube days - and Metroid Prime 1, RE4, F Zero, Eternal Darkess, Twilight Princess sound absolutely delightful. To be fair, a quick look at Argos and you'll find a cheap sorround stsyem for £30 - its certainly jnot top of the range, but will be an vast improvement over stereo (which you'd get inbuilt with most TVs). Eg: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5132296/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500006565.Sound%2Band%2Bvision%3EC%24cip%3D1500006592.Home%2Baudio%3EC%24cip%3D1500006597.Home%2Bcinema%2Bspeaker%2Bsystems.htm

Main page reporting Edge rumours that Animal Crossing Wii will evolve into MMO social networking game, which would prove a nice, and unexpected, move by The Big N. Personally, i'd love to see a busier network of characters in ACWii. Also, i'd love to see Mii's integrated into Animal Crossing too - perhaps wearing Animal costumes? Quirky, yes. Thought on the possible evolution of AC?

waiting for Metroid and Galaxy is such a chore, so, i said to myself, 'i'll play a cube game'... But, alas, instantly put off by the prospect of moving the wii and having wires trailing round the lounge. I know there are a bevy of wireless cube controllers out there, but before i go out and buy one to avoid a wire-mess, do you know if there is one with force feedback? Thanks

I'm nt keen... hopefully we'll soon get the choice from multiple alerts. I far prefered the gentle glow of yester-year.

Its another example of how games developers are not script writers. Its not the worse example, but when compared to say, Eternal Darkness RE4 is quite cheesy.
-
I wasn't too taken by this game to start with. Not because of visuals (which are by no means the worst on Wii, but are perhaps the epitome of laziness), but it just doesn't seem that entertaining. In fact, isn't Umbrella Chronicles simply a Wiimake of Gun Survivor series, or at least uses the basic premise? I also happen to beleive that remakes in RE4 stylee of 0-3 would be more saleable - the engine is there, the game layout is there - if Silicon Knights (not a massive studio by any stretch of the imagination) can knock out a super-polished remake of MGS on GC in 18 months, i'm sure other developers would relish the opportunity to work with another established franchise.

Since this update, my Wii has a new flash for messages. Anyone else noticed this?
-
I'm simply not taken by this game. Don't know why. I'd much prefer thrue Wiimakes of RE series...
-
I think its the style of the digital clock I don't like... i'd prefer an analogue clock, or at least a better font. I'm liking the update, but now being doen to just over 200 blocks in the system memory - I NEED TO PLAY GAMES DIRECTLY FROM AN SD CARD!
-
RE4 is a must. SSX Blur is also great fun, as is Excite Truck. I understand that Zelda may not be completable (without hiding from the rest of the world!), but consider it. On the Virtual Console, i'm lovin' Paper Mario at the moment. MIssed this classic on N64 (and incidentally, the sequel GC). Lylat Wars/Starfox, and Mario 64.

With the Wii snapping at the heals of the XBox 360 in terms of unit sales figures, i'm wondering if Wii could see a version of RE5. RE4 seems to have some great sales figures, and to me it doesn't too dificult to think Capcom could port the game to Wii with extra waggle - certainly RE5 does not seem to do that much more than RE4. Your opinions?
