  1. Fridays are a bit hit and miss for me but I'll certainly be racing when I'm available!
  2. Poor WiFi is by far my biggest issue with it. It's in the same room as my Xbox One which has nailed on 5 bars and will download stuff at around 40mb per second. When I use the Switch is struggles to stream a video!
  3. It's so backwards but at least it encourages you to really learn the maps. I'm more interested in seeing the roll out of the "online service" alongside this and how that is integrated.
  4. Have we got a thread anywhere with Switch friend codes? It would be good to jump in with some of you on this.
  5. I don't think achievements has much to do with it really. They would be a nice to have. Kav is right, it comes down to ROI. The power gap is even bigger this time when Switch is essentially an Xbox 360 at a time when mainstream games are designed for X1/PS4 and we are moving in to PS4 Pro/Scorpio territory with significantly more power again. All of this means ports won't work. The third parties need to be convinced to do ground up Switch exclusives to match the system.
  6. It's all about Smash Bros for me. I would be really happy with a quick and dirty port to be honest!
  7. I ended up diving in with a Switch. I've got a setup where I've got a gaming room where I spend my time on the Xbox One and PC and it's where I generally like to play so I can be in party chat with friends etc. But, I'll also want to use the Switch on the big screen downstairs for the local MP. It's the perfect console for this if only I could find another dock. The best I've seen is £84 on eBay which is a joke for an oversized HDMI adapter!
  8. The gap in power is so large that this might actually be a good thing. I do think the Western studios will want to make some money from the install base and the cost to develop will be comparably lower at a time when the PS4 Pro and Scorpio will increase developments costs again with the focus on 4K. This will hopefully mean a handful of well developed Switch exclusive titles rather than just ports. That or a boat load of shovel ware!
  9. Do you guys think you'll be starting up your MK league again?
  10. I've not posted here since launch but I've been reading the various comments. I'm getting closer to buying a Switch as I would really like to play MK8 but I still can't quite see me using it enough. The portable has limited appeal to me and I really don't like the joy cons and grip so would need a pro controller. But my biggest issue is still the online. So much of my gaming centres around online multiplayer and I still don't trust Nintendo. From a poor WiFi receiver (this will be an enormous issue if they can't software fix it) to no voice chat to the silly idea of the app it's still just so half baked. They will have the games - MK and Smash online are enough for so many hours of gameplay but the won't have the systems so there will be needless lag, silence and in the end only a small community. Online Nintendo games are a lonely place. I hope they prove me wrong but early indications of how Bomberman, MK and Fast Racing have panned out don't look promising.
  11. This is so wrong. Good analog sticks will destroy the gyro. The operative word is good though and this means not the Joy Cons. I've not tried the Pro yet but if it's as good as an Xbox pad then dual stick will be the way to go in order to be the best at the game possible.
  12. I was hoping to really like this having never played the original Splatoon. Unfortunately, I hate the controls - the gyro is dire for aiming. The joy cons aren't much better as the sticks are not brilliant for FPS games. I may give it another go in the future but only once I've got a pro controller.
  13. The WiFi problems worry me most. Sometimes, the console struggles to even stream a video without buffering every few seconds. It's less of an issue now as we don't have any online games but could be a major problem once these do start to come.
  14. Any more reports on how the online is working for you guys who have purchased this? If it's good, I may consider just to give me something to play multiplayer on.
  15. It's still a very small user base at the moment though despite a reasonable start so I don't think it's all that an attractive proposition for the developers based on this. It's about how sales go from here - continue apace and then the publishers will see the money and follow it. 16. That's annoying. I won't use mine in handheld very often but wanted an extra dock for easy moving between my largest TV in the lounge and my gaming monitor in my man cave.
  17. For me, this doesn't solve the problem. I could get an adapter (why on earth you need one in 2017 is beyond me though) but most people won't have one. My connection being great is fine but you need all players in the game to have good connections.
  18. I didn't think it had an Ethernet port?
  19. The above is why I'm holding off from getting this. Really worried the terrible WiFi connections most people are getting to the Switch is going to seriously hamper online play.
  20. I've had a chance to have a play with mine now. I'm really on the fence on whether I like it or not. I'm not sold on the joy cons, they just feel quite fiddly even in the grip so think I will need a pro controller if I stick with it. It's also a lot smaller than I was expecting and really disappointed with the frame rate drops in Zelda, hoping it's not a sign that we will struggle to see games get to 900p and a stable frame rate. At the moment it won't keep me off the Xbox much but it's a premium feeing piece of kit so if Nintendo can support it with a volume of quality software and a great online service then there's plenty of hope it can grow as a platform.
  21. This is absolutely crazy by Nintendo. When will they wake up to what players want in 2017? Their approach to online is so out of date and it will now harm the Switch as a proposition in a considerable way as it just turns more people off. Why the hell cant they just copy Sony and Microsoft and get a really basic friends list working based on Nintendo ID name or similar. Even the publishers with their internal systems do far better than friends codes.
  22. We shall see if it happens but my Amazon order is saying it will despatch tomorrow.
  23. There are so many quality Indy games coming to Switch. It was an excellent direct, really looking forward to Warzone but lots of others also look interesting. The Escapists was really good so fantastic to see a sequel. There are so many quality Indy games coming to Switch. 24. I've just ordered a grey console and Zelda from Amazon. I'll likely to take a stroll in to town on Saturday and see if anything else takes my fancy, I've got quite a few Xbox 1 games to trade in and I'll probably get a pro controller eventually. I'm really looking forward to this now after skipping the Wii U.
  25. There's no need for posts to get so personal. There are people on here that are very jaded by Nintendo and others that are still looking for every positive to support them. There are then lots of people also somewhere in between. That's life, we would have nothing to discuss if we all agreed.
