  1. I'd seriously like to hope so. That wasn't even cool when fucking Driv3r done it, nevermind now.
  2. Serious truth here: Outside of the select extremely "core" internet forum type gamer, most hardcore gamers have completely abandoned their Wii's. I have a few friends that own a Wii, 360 and PS3. It wouldn't matter what kind of games were coming out on the Wii really...they wont be interested at all. A friend of mine owns both Mistwalker 360 RPG's. He's a fan of older Final Fantasy games and a big fan of Uematsu's music. I can't get him interested in The Last Story. He bought FFXIII first day. In 2006 some core gamers were forgiving of the idea that the Wii wasn't nearly as good looking visually as their next gen consoles and some early Wii titles sold well. in 2010, not many people are forgiving outside of the extreme Nintendo fans. Red Steel 2 is a game where no matter how good it was, it was doomed to fail at retail. I will go as far to say that no third party Wii hardcore title will ever sell as well as games like Umbrella Chronicles, RE4, etc ever again. Not ONE single game.
  3. So is there actually some kind of Monster Hunter x Metal Gear mode or was that actually made for fun/april fools?
  4. The lighting system is going to have to be really fucking good to compensate for the horrible textures and low poly environments.
  5. I was about to start adding on titles like The Last Story, Trauma Team, etc but then realised they're Japanese developed and that list was for Western. Really isn't looking good for Western developed third party games, unless E3 has some in store. If it doesn't have anything...oh dear! The Wii probably has at least 2 years + left in its cycle too. Anyway I hope improved Epic Mickey footage pops up at some point soon. I liked the concept when the game was announced but the screenshots killed it dead.
  6. I like the ball levels. Actually required a bit of concentration and the controls worked well. Music drove me nuts though. Yes it's nice it changed with speed, but the composition was ass.
  7. One thing about this game: I don't think people should get too hyped for visuals. Xenoblade by Monolith has a very Gamecube level look in the newest vids and I honestly wont expect much more for this game. I'm not going to say that's a bad thing for me, I just don't think people should expect it to be very high end.
  8. Anyone played Cave Story on Wiiware who also played the freeware PC game at some point? I've already completed the game on PC so I'm not sure if (aside from the graphical upgrade) there's any reason to buy the game?
  9. Mock ups should take something into account: If it's backwards compatible, it'll need a d-pad! That's one thing that has me a little skeptical on it having an analogue stick, if it has one then it'll need both a stick and d-pad. Would Nintendo do that on a handheld? Will it work comfortably?
  10. The first post has 2 SEPARATE rumours listed. One was it was using Tegra, another was that it would have Gamecube level power.
  11. I think the choice to post that Dsi game video directly under NEW DS ANNOUNCEMENT on the main page is going to confuse readers into thinking that IS the new DS.
  12. However well this game turns out now, I certainly can't fault them for amount of effort put into the artwork! I really want this to be good. The very sad thing is though I bet NO MATTER how good it is, it wont matter sales wise. It probably wont even do well in Japan despite the heritage. I was talking to my friend about this and he basically turns off whenever anything is about the Wii, despite the fact he owns both Mistwalker games on 360, is a huge Uematsu fan (I do have a feeling he'll be onboard for this) and actually owns a Wii. Of course he and a few other people I know went and bought FFXIII on day 1. Why? Simple, HD bells and whistles galore.
  13. Someone with balls needs to interview this guy, printout a screenshot of the old version of the game and say "hey, what happened to this exactly?"
  14. ^Well Sakamoto's original idea sounds like it wouldn't really have had any interesting new mechanics and would in fact been more limited control wise than any other Metroid since the original, other than Metroid 2, due to the lack of buttons. One thing that would be an improvement though if it was locked on a fixed 2D path is that they could still use down on the d-pad to transform to morph ball, where as now of course pushing down will have Samus walk downwards. That would free up a button for switching to missiles, instead of this whole thing where they can only be used through first person. Anyway the game has obviously been built around this new system though, incorporating things like the auto-aiming in third person into the design of enemy layouts and building elements of boss fights around the first person aiming. At the very least I'm sure it's going to feel at least a bit fresh.
  15. The only way I'll begin to be interested in this is if the art style is improved, or more accurately if there actually is any sense of style to the game at all. I own the original but I haven't completed it, it's very generic and dull. The online was fun though, I'll give it that, but that's the only main positive I have. Well that and the aiming.
  16. I'd pay damn good money for Zero Mission, if I was given the option to pay £30 for that now (if I didn't own it) or a next gen game I'd be going with Zero Mission. The second best sidescroller in my opinion (only behind Super) and probably my third favourite Metroid game overall (Super, Prime, Zero Mission). Fantastic remake of the original Metroid, the areas are perfectly rebuilt, maintaining all the similarities they need have to the original while doing enough new to make them fresh. Soundtrack reworks all the original tracks, retaining the core of all of them but with significant improvements. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nV_vU62PwI Probably my favourite title screen of any game I've ever played too. I also personally like that they incorporated sequence breaking into the gameplay. You actually get rewarded with different ending artwork for doing low percentage (<15%) runs, as well as ones for 100% Only flaws with the game really are a lack of difficulty, a bit too much hand-holding (though not as much as Fusion) and that the added stealth section is arguably too out of place with the rest of the game. When it comes to epic Prime 3 music, I'm personally more partial to the Rundas battle theme. Easily the best boss in the game too.
  17. Maybe not in a way where everyone would think "Oh I want to go listen to this" but you're missing the point. The atmosphere is a HUGE part of Metroid. The soundtrack is a huge part of creating that. Anyone not wowed though really needs to get some Metroid Metal down them
  18. I'm a bit saddened they changed composer. Kenji Yamamoto has worked on Super Metroid and Zero Mission (both with Minako Hamano) and also composed the score for all 3 Prime games. He wasn't involved in Metroid 1, 2, Fusion or Hunters, so it's not like the Metroid series has always had an exclusive composer, but he is the guy most closely associated with Metroid music and I did want to hear what he'd come up with for a Japanese developed 3D title.
  19. Do we have any idea if it's Uematsu who's doing the music for the game? The music track on the site has elements of compositions from FFX in it, so it wouldn't surprise me if it is.
  20. I think Mario Kart is the only truly marketable Kart racing game. A few people I know tried the 360 demo of this game too and completely didn't like it. It didn't make much sense to me too as they enjoy Mario Kart and there isn't anything drastically different or lower quality about this game. Something about the Mario Kart ip is just drastically more appealing to people though. Good memories from the N64 days for a lot of people still I guess.
  21. It's a damn fucking shame that Cing went bankrupt. Pisses me off that there are so many people out there too who moan about there being "no good games" on DS (because they just ignore the ton of good ones for some reason!) and then games like this end up with crap sales and the developers suffer for it, despite putting genuine effort in. People are happy to pump out £40-50 regularly for mediocre next gen titles that end up disappointing them but grudge paying out £20-30 for real gems like this series because it's not up to the same visual standard. Anyway again, loved the original and hope that this still gets a European release now! One thing I'm still waiting for is a 2D Metroid. For me there hasn't been a true Metroid entry on DS because Hunters doesn't count as it's bland as hell and only really succeeds from a technical standpoint. Anyway the fact a new Pokemon gen is coming though should show you something, the next handheld isnt coming very soon. Certainly not this year and it'd be the end of next year at earliest I'd say! I dont blame them at all though. Games like Scribblenauts and the like show that even this far into its life, the DS is still bringing completely original concepts to the table.
  22. As long as there's a degree of depth to the battle system still and it's not atrociously boring then I don't care whether it's turn based or real time. The battle systems in games like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon feel a bit too archaic and slow for me.
  23. I'm surprised that a lot of people cant tell the voice is deliberately monotone. Look at the freaking facial expressions that go along with it and the general vibe of what's happening (the whole silently remorseful over an alien baby that saved her thing. Obviously she's feeling pretty strange). They clearly want to portray Samus this way, whether people like the choice or not. The only real problem is that the dialogue is awkwardly written.
  24. ^I will say that fighters always have the ability to look much better than sidescrollers with huge levels, because the environments are comparitively very small and the characters aren't moving very fast through them.
  25. Assuming this ends up actually being good anyway.
