Whoa! Really? Do they have an "old-school section" or something? I really didn't expect that game to be mentioned in recent articles or newsletters, let alone a magazine. Anyway, a picture and the updated scoreboard: Scores 4q2: 8 theguyfromspark: 7 Jamba: 5 Hellfire: 5 Zechs Merquise: 5 Jonnas: 4 Mcj Metroid: 3 welsh_gamer: 3 steggy: 2 Happenstance: 2 Gentleben: 2 YanRuo: 2 Mundi: 1 Petey_Piranah: 1 Daft: 1 thirtynine: 1 tapedeck: 1 Patch: 1 The Villan: 1 Emasher: 1 Darksnowman: 1 P.S.: I assume theguyfromspark is right.

D'oh! Of course that's not Vectorman! That is Wolverine! Uhhh...X-Men Mutant Apocalypse?
-
It's probably that what will happen. The update just says that Samus transforms into Zamus when using the Final Smash. It doesn't say anything about Zamus' accessibility. That'll probably appear in her profile (which I'm expecting this week).
-
Is Vectorman the first one? I have no idea about the second one...

Hey! A Metroid Prime thread! Truly the best game of the last generation, this game could immerse better than most games. -Beautiful graphics and monster design. Some of them are creative; -Atmospheric sound and some memorable tunes (Magmoor caverns, Meta-Ridley boss fight); -Great control system (the R button was frustrating in certain occasions, but nothing too serious). The obligatory power-ups were very intuitive and easy to use. Using the X-Ray visor to see paths and platforms and using the Thermal Visor to detect movement and living beings was wonderful. They didn't feel tacked on like other power-ups *ahem*Dark Visor*ahem*.; -Many extras hidden in the game, including Missile Expansions, Health Packs, Scans, hidden artwork, different endings and the Beam Expansions (Loved those); -The attention to detail is amazing. From the drops in Samus' visor to a few log scans that showed the pirates' reaction to Samus ("The Hunter's Morph Ball is impossible to recreate"); -The plot was good and I loved the fact that the only people who got that one were the people that bothered to explore and read the scans. I also liked the fact that they tried to find an explanation for everything that was unrealistic (Ex.: The hovering platforms) or too convenient (Ex.: The Chozo power-ups received an explanation in this game); -The atmosphere in different places was amazing and breathtaking. I felt tense when exploring the space station and calm in Tallon Overworld and the open areas in Phendrana Drifts. I could also feel the hostile ambient in the Pirate bases in Phendrana and the Phazon Mines and was always with my cannon ready. The Chozo Ruins in the desert and Phendrana were awe inspiring and I felt like I actually was in a sacred place. When I was exploring the sunken frigate, it seemed like it was an abandoned house. That segment was quite creepy. Finally, the Impact Crater inspired fear into my heart as I was about to face "The Worm"; -The boss fights were epic: Meta-Ridley has the greatest atmosphere in a boss fight EVER. Omega Pirate was also quite hard, Flaahgra had me stumped for a while (I missed the part of the scan where it said he could be stunned) and Metroid Prime was long and tiresome. Even minor bosses like Sheegoth and the Elite Pirates had their moments. By the way, I believe that the reason that Echoes felt worse than Prime was because of the linearity and set objectives. There was nothing wrong with the Dark World, except for all the negative feelings it brings (hostility, fear, darkness, danger). Finally, one of my favourite Metroid Prime moments. Basically, I was in the Phazon Mines, in room with two floors. I entered in the lower floor and saw several Power Troopers pointing their guns at me. I quickly crossed the room to the boxes that lead to the upper floor. When I climbed them, I could still see the pirates waving their guns at me trying to get clear shot at me while I was hiding in a wall. Then, I turn around and see two Wave Troopers about to attack me. I changed to the Wave cannon while trying to avoid the physical blows (I got hit a few times). Then, I charge the gun and release the Wave buster, killing them quickly. However, one them landed in an apparently decorative glass near the floor. It turns out it wasn't decorative, as the Wave corpse broke it. The moment it did. The Power Troopers turned their heads as if they heard it, and saw me hitting me in my hiding spot, nearly killing me before I thought of a second plan It was memorable for several reasons: -It showed the Troopers had a competent and beievable A.I.; -It showed that what I thought was a scenario actually behaved unexpectedly and realistically; -Tested my reflexes and quick thinking against a few grunts. In real life, a few grunts from a big organization would actually be dangerous and we don't see much of it in videogames.

I used to be able to name the first 151 in order even. Ahhhh, memories. Anyway, any pokémon could be an interesting character (Jigglypuff and Pichu are proof of this). Ditto can transform into other characters, as already mentioned. Others include: -Machamp (4 arms); -Alakazam; -Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan (They're awesome and you know it); -Heracross (a fighting hercules beetle. Great concept and execution); -Pinsir (see Heracross); -Scyther/Scizor; -Jynx; -Electabuzz; -Lucario; -Tyranitar; -Dragonite; -Sceptile; -Snorlax. And the list goes on and on. If you don't know who they are, just wiki them. Good inspiration for movesets there, since there's information in battle prowess and pokedex entries. P.S.: This is just a list based on personal preferences.

FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...

I don't think that the cartoon had anything to do with that. Jigglypuff was the second most popular Pokémon in Japan at the time, therefore had good chances.
-
Unless you throw somebody to the Hyper Beam. Deoxys, eh? So one of the possible new playable Pokémon is not playable at all. Most people think that Lucario will be the new playable Pokémon, but I am still rooting for Ditto to surprise us all.
-
Tell me it's not Mega Drive Collection or something like that.
-
Yeah, that's why I said that no Metroid game would come out without the hint system. Even if you are able to turn it off, no game will be similar to Metroid II, so I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It's just that the technical limitations in Metroid II actually made it what it is, so there won't be another one.

Yeah, I mentioned in my previous post that LttP fans were going to kill me. But that's how I really feel about it. LttP didn't really manage to please me other than a boss fight (I forgot the name of the Boss and the Dungeon, but it was some sort of snake that could throw you in a pit and you had to restart the fight if you did. I liked that boss and wish there were more like that in Zeldas, since it's not puzzle related, but skill related, like Metroid). Yeah, I just prefer the portable ones when it comes to 2D Zeldas. By the way, in a similar note, 2D Metroids: Metroid II » Super Metroid » Zero Mission » Fusion Fusion was fun, but the story was action-driven, separating it from other Metroids. Zero Mission and Super Metroid were similar, I felt. Not that it is a bad thing. Both games were good and the only reason Super Metroid is higher on the list is because it felt longer. Metroid II was awesome. It captured the atmosphere of loneliness better than Metroid prime, even. You had no map, no hint system, no equipment other than the plasma cannon and the missile launcher and the mission was rather clear: Kill all Metroids. I had to do a mental map with this one, which showed that this game is more compelling than most games out there. It's a shame that there won't be any more games like this. Every Metroid nowadays has a map or a hint system that take away from the experience.

Awww, man! Only 6 votes for Metroid? I know Zelda is good and popular, but still... Anyway, I actually liked the Capcom Zelda games way more than LttP. The way I see it, Minish Cap » Link's Awakening » Oracles » LttP in 2D Zelda games. Metroid still rocks, but, has I said in my previous post, the experience and opinions all come from different perspectives and preferences. At least the discussion around here hasn't turned into a flame war.

Golden Axe?

 A comment like this in every update. Always. You can notice it in most of his games. While I was playing Kirby's Fun Pak the other day, I couldn't help but wonder if that was a lost part of Super Smash Bros. Melee. Oh, Zelda_Rulez, I believe it was the music played in Corneria stage. They definetely share the same original theme.

FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...

Ouch! Critcal Hits with less than 5%. I HATE them. Odd. I didn't find that chapter to be difficult. Just play defensively and the frontline enemy units will come to you, where you can kill them with the units with good attack. Organize a good defense with Generals or Paladins or whoever has good def and cure them from time to time. That way, it's hard for them to gang up on the wrong unit. Hope that helps. -

Japjer: Oh yeah, I unlocked that Rolf/Marcia conversation as well. That's why I love unlocking supports on the boat. I recall another support conversation on the boat. This time, Mordecai/Mist. -
Close, but no.

FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...
Jonnas replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Look at this! A Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance thread! Great game, as everyone posted. Good missions, great plot and, above all, great characters. I still prefer Fire Emblem 7 for the GBA, mainly because there are different paths, small changes to the plot depending on who the lord is and a better support system (even if it was hell to get the supports for some of the late characters). However, Path of Radiance still shines, since the gameplay elements are so different and unique to the portable ones. The Laguz were a nice addition, given you know how to use them. Lethe was dependable and useful, but Mordecai was a little more useless. The FMVs had terrible voice acting, but other than that, gorgeous. I prefer the still paintings, though. And, of course, it possesses the great replay value from the Fire Emblems, that being, the supports. I don't want to read them in a FAQ. I want to read them as they are supposed to be read, even if it takes a lot of work (it sucks that I can't read them whenever I want, though). By the way, my MVP was Boyd. The guy has incredible speed, power and HP. Counter and Wrath work wonders with him. The addition of bows was a nice plus, too. Oh, and do try to beat the game on Hard mode. It's a great challenge and there are a few changes, like the addition of Fog of War in certain missions. P.S.: How many people got Stefan or the Vague Katti on the first playtrough? -
Correct. One point for you. 4q2: 8 Jamba: 5 theguyfromspark:4 Zechs Merquise: 4 Hellfire: 4 Jonnas: 4 Mcj Metroid: 3 steggy: 2 welsh_gamer: 2 Happenstance: 2 Gentleben: 2 YanRuo: 2 Mundi: 1 Petey_Piranah: 1 Daft: 1 thirtynine: 1 tapedeck: 1 Patch: 1 The Villan: 1 Emasher:1 EDIT: Since nobody is posting a picture, I'll do it: CLUE: It's a Simpsons game! Let's see now: -NES: Never completed any Zelda or Metroid game on the NES, so I can't say much here. Favourite: Neither -SNES: Zelda fans are going to kill me, but I didn't like LttP as much as most did. Not a bad game, but not a great one either. Super Metroid, on the other hand, was much more compelling. Favourite: Metroid -Gameboy: Close call. Even though I loved Metroid II, Zelda had three great games in this system. You can't compete with that. Favourite: Zelda -N64: Never played Majora's Mask, but seems good. Ocarina of Time is an All-Time classic. Favourite: Zelda, by default -GBA: In my opinion, Minish Cap » Zero Mission » Metroid Fusion » LttP port. Favourite: Metroid, by a very close call. -Gamecube: Wind Waker was gorgeous (with small flaws) and Twilight Princess was a huge dissapointment. Metroid Prime was flawlessly gorgeous and Metroid Prime 2 had a few minor dissapointments. Favourite: Metroid. Wind Waker was excellent, but still not good enough to best the Prime series. Overall gameplay and atmosphere: Opinions define the better franchise. -If you prefer exploration on the open field, Zelda; If you prefer exploration in rooms and underground labyrinths, Metroid. (Fav:Metroid) -If you prefer medieval and/or fantasy settings, Zelda; If you prefer futuristic and/or Sci-fi settings, Metroid. (Fav: Zelda) -If you prefer bosses that require puzzle solving (therefore being challenging at first, but easy the next time you face them), Zelda; If you want bosses that test your gamer reflexes and quick thinking (therefore presenting some challenge each time you face them), Metroid. (Fav:Metroid) -If you prefer the dungeon system and a story that develops during the game, Zelda; If you prefer complete exploration and a set story where you draw conclusions based on your in-game research, Metroid. (Fav:Metroid) -Note: There are exceptions in all of the mentioned points. Personal Favorite: Metroid, for every reason posted. Personal Predictions: -DS: Phantom Hourglass » Metroid Pinball » Metroid Hunters -Wii: Metroid Prime 3 » Twilight Princess EDIT: Oh, and by the way. Samus would absolutely pwn Link in a fight. Samus FTW! : peace:

-GTA: I never liked the controls. Always felt unresponsive (The car driving is neat, though). Plus, I don't like the atmosphere. -Tomb Raider: Once again, the controls. The puzzles and story were good, but the slow and unresponsive controls always turned me off. -Halo: Most overrated FPS ever. -Final Fantasy 7: Good for its time, but has been easily surpassed. There are better RPGs (Final Fantasy 9, Golden Sun 2, Mario & Luigi series, Tales of Symphonia, etc.). Still above Baten Kaitos, though. -Mario Kart: Just meh. There are better racing games (F-Zero, Burnout) and better party games (Smash Bros. Melee). -Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess: Has been in development for such a long time, yet its predecessors have more and better side-quests? Please. -Gran Turismo/Collin McRae Rally series: Racing simulators don't appeal to me. -Pro Evolution Soccer: I don't like football, so it's a no-brainer that a football simulator bores me. -The Sims: Once again, real-life simulator. As you have probably guessed, I don't like those. I'm sure there are more, though.

I knew people would be surprised with my statement. I just was never interested in that fishing game. I tried, though, yet I could never find a fish that could give me a Heart Piece/Golden Scale. I could never find the sinking lure, either, and I looked everywhere in that pond. Other than that, the game was ace, of course.
