2. What I want in 2008? -A Wii (I'm just waiting for Fire Emblem/SSBB, I swear!) -SSBB/Fire Emblem On a more serious mood: -F-Zero Wii Online. If it could support a good number of human drivers (10+) I would definately buy it on launch day; -Drill Dozer 2. A franchise with such potential for further games shouldn't be wasted. The Wiimote and 3D could add more puzzles and platforming originality. A 2D DS game would be fine too; -A game where the plot advancement is similar to Metroid Prime. In other words, a plot, world and setting you have to discover by yourself. No cutscenes, no important dialogue. The only thing that advances the plot are boss fights and location discoveries. If you don't bother reading scans/clues/descriptions, you don't understand what you're doing. I don't care if it's a futuristic or medieval setting or if it's 1st or 3rd person. I want more games like that. For the DS: -Donkey Kong Land/Country styled platformer; -Fire Emblem DS; -Wario Land DS (not in the style of WL4); -Adventures of Lolo revival; -Elite Beat Agents 2; -Mole Mania revival (this franchise needs to come back. I can think of a few innovations/additions they could do for new puzzles and they don't even need the touch screen). Heh, seems my list is bigger for the DS than for the Wii
3. People keep comparing it to Metroid Prime 1. Echoes ain't a bad game, but out of all the gamecube games it's the only one that keeps getting that treatment. To be fair, any game looks bad when compared to Metroid Prime.
4. I actually want some clarification on that. I have seen characters dodging without the shield bubble popping into sight. Add that to the fact that Mario can shield while attacking with the FLUDD and I can tell some things has changed.
5. I was starting to get suspicious about such an important update on a Tuesday... but it's the 100th update, so it doesn't matter much. Of course the best part of the update is Sandbag himself. Best loading screen EVER!
6. Well, it is a bit hard to compete with the Meta-Ridley fight... Go watch the 100% ending and then tell me if Metroid Prime appeared in MP2 or not...
7. The question is: How can they stop it? Air dodging in any direction is mainly used for escaping any enemy offense. If the best way to escape is towards the ground, then the Wave-Dash is there to make it work on the ground. It works specially well with Luigi and Samus (for me anyway). Do you think they would remove this mechanic just so the advanced players don't use it for running faster (or better mindgames)?
8. I don't know if Melee really was designed around the hardcore gamer (gameplay-wise). I bet the prgrammers were surprised as well when the competitive side of smash started to become popular. But I'm sure that won't change for Brawl, I mean, they already know how competitive smashers play the game. Any change they do to that metagame will be felt, so I don't think anybody's going to try to hinder the competitive scenario. I'm sure even Zero Suit Samus is available without the Smash Ball. About Wave-Dash, you're right, it's not a glitch. It's just a gameplay mechanic that was explored beyond belief. If they take away Wave-dashing, they take away the gameplay mechanic, so I think that technique is probably safe.
9. That was just a rumour that grew WAY out of proportion. The people at Smash Boards found a few plotholes in that interview and labeled it as fake. Seems they were right. The full rumour said that I.Climbers and Mr. G&W were cut and Ridley and Bowser Jr. were added. It also said Y.Link was replaced with Cel-Shaded Link. But as we now know, that was just made up. Now that I think abou it, a Young Link update to the WW Link would be cool. By the way, Mr. Game and Watch clearly attacks with sausages.
10. Look at that, the Ice Climbers are back! And they look better than ever. Gotta love the fuzzy coats and the detailed leather gloves. I wonder if they're gonna have even more tag team moves. And what could their Final Smash be? EDIT: I just realized, the fact that they're symbol comes right before the Animal Crossing one means that symbol 13 is a veteran as well. And the only symbol left is Game & Watch... This Ice Climbers update re-confirmed more than one character.
11. Invisible melee didn't give you immunity, but the cloaking device did. By the way, can't wait to try Fast Mini Light Bunny Brawl! In the flying pokémon stage too! Or the Fast Mega Heavy Metal Brawl in Skyworld! God this game is gonna be truly epic.
12. Cool update. Now there's something I wish was in melee. I hope you can control your HP, now. Being limited to 150 really sucked. What is "Clear" in the body option? I have no idea. And now we have Bunny and/or Metal Brawl.:yay: Two of my favorite transformation items.
13. The backgrounds in melee were great in several stages. You just have to pay attention to the small details. The rainbow in Kongo Jungle, Cranky's cabin in Jungle Japes, the owl statue and the moon in Termina Great Bay, the original buildings from Earthbound in Onett, to name a few. Brawl's backgrounds may be amazing, but the ones in Melee weren't exactly poor.
14. Yeah, you're right. I was hoping this game was a little more on the unknown side. But I guess your username does you justice.
15. Whoo! Another point for me. The question is: What game is it?
16. Meh, it wouldn't be the first time. I still stand by the theory that the Ancient Minister (or at least the mastermind behind all this) is a known character. But who? *hint*Fawful?*hint* As long as Falcon keeps the Taunt, Falcon Punch and exagerated yells, I'll be happy. Those are what made him. About the stages, there were 29 stages in melee. Even if Brawl is to have the same number, we have only seen little more than half. Some of them are wackier (WarioWare, Rumble Falls), others are flatter (Smashville, Battlefield, Delphino Plaza). And many of them are very different than what melee did (Castle Siege, WarioWare, Smashville, Bridge of Eldin). I wouldn't worry too much about the end result. By the way, I'm predicting that tomorrow we'll have a Game Mode update (probably about the Emissary), a Final Smash or a B-Move update (if double update, a combination of those three). Friday I think we'll have a veteran update (I'm guessing Captain Falcon).
17. Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot about your pic, Tales. (Still don't know what it is, but I'm sure I've seen it somewhere) And Deathborn is right. Wario makes a cameo in that game using his Wario Land 4 sprite.:p You still got Tales of Rebirth right, though. Zechs Merquise: 28 theguyfromspark: 22 Hellfire: 13 darksnowman: 11 Coolness Bears: 9 steggy: 9 4q2: 8 Happenstance: 7 immy: 7 /nando/: 7 Shino: 6 Mcj Metroid: 6 Patch: 6 Jonnas: 6 Jamba: 5 peterl0: 5 Gentleben: 5 EchoDesiato: 5 The Villan: 5 Tales: 5 welsh_gamer: 4 Brass_Monkey: 4 YanRuo: 2 Ollie: 2 Zell: 2 Tetzcatilipoca: 2 Deathborn: 2 thirtynine: 2 Mundi: 1 Petey_Piranah: 1 Daft: 1 Emasher: 1 tapedeck: 1 Sheikah: 1 Tales' pic with the battleships is still up for grabs! Does anybody know? EDIT: Shipwreckers! I played it in a PSX demo once.
18. Let's see if these games are known to you: 1. 2.
19. The Halberd Stage, generic substance? Did everyone here miss the part with the huge cannon? I know it's not much, but still... Okay stage. I never particularly cared for it when first announced and still don't.
20. Oh, ok, I see your point. You meant that she doesn't have anything that makes her stand out from the other characters. You only mentioned the sword, hence the misunderstanding. I completely forgot about that one. Maybe it could be a recovery move? By the way, he doesn't use any other of those fancy tricks in Path of Radiance. Don't know about Radiant Dawn, though.
21. Micaiah is the only mage that stands a chance. But it would definately be interestling.
22. So you want more characters that use fists and kicks? This game is not Smash Tekken. In all seriousness, Lyn would bring something new if the programmers were creative for her. If they had decided to include her, they would think about many ways to use her (since her swordstyle is quicker and she can use bows and whatnot). They would even create new ones (Ex.: Marth's Shield Breaker, Ike's Eruption, Captain Falcon's entire moveset, etc.). I'm guessing they didn't include her because: 1. Not popular enough; 2. With other sword-users (Meta Knight, Ike) and bow-users (Pit, Link) running around, they would have to go to great lenghts to make such a character completely original. Black Knight is in fact one of the FE characters with best chances, however: 1. Since when can he use magic? His long-ranged attacks don't count, since Ike and Roy had them too. 2. How does being a sword-user decreases his chances of being unique? Last time I checked, Link and Marth weren't similar in the least. Besides, his sword is HUGE. If he's in, he'll probably be as different to Ike just as Diddy is different to Donkey Kong. As Marthuser said, that's not Ilyana, that's Micaiah. A laguz is definetely a good idea. The ones with best chances are obviously Tibarn, Naesala, Caineghis and maybe (long shot) Ranulf. To my knowledge, the only lance-wielding lords are Ephraim and Sigurd. One is very unpopular overall. The other, albeit popular in Japan, is unknown in the west. However, both would be unique. Ephraim is on foot and Sigurd is on horseback. Both would be cool. About Lyn, it's awesome that she's in (she was one of my AT predictions). Her move is just perfect for her (way better than my flashy suggestion:heh:). Besides, she's in full 3D glory. Is it me, or is she cel-shaded like the FMVs in Path of Radiance? Best Assist Trophy so far.
23. Dammit, I knew there was something wrong! I must've thought about another non-PAL (yet) game. I said Odin Sphere because that was my first reaction. I keep forgetting Odin Sphere is all 2D. Oddworld was still worth a shot. It could've been either Exoddus or Oddysee but The Villan got oddysee first. Hellfire: Epá, foi um erro, desculpa aí! Eu não tenho os recursos da máfia!
24. 1. Odin Sphere? 2. Battallion Wars? 3. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus?
25. Yeah, we can all agree that in advanced matches Marth > Roy. However, in casual matches both guys have different strenghts and it all depends on whatever skills the players have. To be honest, nobody knows the true amount of people that play it competitively (I believe it reaches 10% at least). The people who like to play SSBM competitively are the same people who love competition in fighting games. SSBM just happens to be a balanced fighting game that can be played in skill-mode or party-mode. Besides, I don't think there really is a need to use Wavedash, SHFFL, L-cancel, etc. I have seen a few tourney matches via youtube that didn't use them. Sure, the players had an excellent control of air-dodge, prediction and amazing combos, but they were the best that they could be, without utilising the "advanced" techniques. If you think the turnabout of tournaments is poor, that's probably because many people don't have access to tournaments. Also, there are probably some people that want to try, but have no reason to (no way to access tournaments, no one to play with, etc.). The best way to see if the SSB tournament scene is popular or not is to wait for the online in SSBB. When they start to host tournaments online, we'll see how many people attend to them when there are no proximity problems.
