  1. Y'know, I listened to the album while walking to school today, and I just KNEW in my head that the video wouldn't have anything vaguely lesbian in it, as it's American, and aimed at being popular. Kinda the wroing logic, look at t.A.T.u and All The Things She Said. That worked well. (But then the Uk > USA interms of freedom of expression)
  2. Her lyrical skills shouldn't be the topic, she writes great songs... The masses made her catchiest song popular, can't blame her for that.
  3. I assume it the use as an "inoffensive" insult, without actual connotations of homosexuality (though she plays on this in the song). Like "That's so gay!" as a slang term. I knew you'd like it. ----- Listening to one of my favourite albums, You Are Free by Cat Power. Calming/depressing/uplifting.
  4. For Haggis; Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl The albums a good pop album, some great tracks. Seemed like the kinda thing you'd like.
  5. I think Bluey would be valid if this was a Jade Goody is dead thread...or maybe the Amy Winehouse thread up right now. But at least Amy has talent (in some people'd eyes). Carlin had a talent, so I think it's fine to share the fact he died with people...
  6. lol! I'd rate DOA like an 8 on the entertainment scale, to be fair though. Just not on film quality.
  7. It was a visual feat, and was hardly bad as a film, though admittedly the visual element was it's backbone. Some people don't appreciate the same art others do.
  8. Bit ridiculous....Loose Women are all like "Men are shit in bed! Fuck penises! Vaginas FTW!", or at least it was when I saw it last. Swearing and Sex used to be on a similar censorship level. I'm glad that at least one is looser now (no pun intended).
  9. Yeah, i'm planning on getting a job over the summer, but it's not easy at all...
  10. While she was very good when I saw her live, and I like some of her songs, her habits annoy me...hope she doesn't kill herself through this, but even if she does, she'll be an example.
  11. I'll do it, easy.
  12. I could like the sound of Flyleaf. I originally avoided them like the plague, but her voice has grown on me. Also, has anyone got/heard the new Sigur Ros album? When's it out?
  13. Having not seen Deathproof, I can still say Planet Terror is better. :p
  14. Quoted for truth. It was just on the big screen. Like burnt my eyes with it's greatness. --- Planet Terror (again) 8/10 I love so much.
  15. Oh my days... IMO, Ironic is the worst on the album, and prolly the worst song she's ever done. It's one of the few of hers I always skip past. All I Really Want, Oughta Know and Forgiven are way better. This conversation is literally 13 years out of date. Stale and mildewed.
  16. I liked it, and it's length. I actually saw the whole thing mutliple times, as I've been spendgin all my school days in the art department finishing the art magazine, and all the classes have been watching it in the same room as the macs, so yeah. Made me appreciate it more, actually. However, I really hated the remade soundtrack for it...like a loop of shite 1998 classical mixed with upbeat industrial.
  17. People who start arguements then say "No, stop, I don't want to argue!" just when they're losing it.
  18. How come no one ever told me how good Lycanthropy is compared to The Magic Position? (both Patrick Wolf) The Childcatcher and the title track like blew my mind.
  19. Metropolis - 8/10 Loved this so much, and not just due to it's legendary status. A milestone in sci-fi, it's an interesting film, if very long and drawn out (we're so used to short sharp shots in films). I was entranced by Brigitte Helm as Maria, just the effect of her heavy make-up with the bad quality film.
  20. Yeah, I thinbk Closer is great, quite hard-hitting, and the theatrical transition allows for unusual types of acting. Love Natalie Portman in it.
  21. Winona Ryder, my love!
  22. I went to see Sex and the City with my mum, as she rarely wants to see any filoms, plus I refused to go on the trip she wanted me to go on, so I thought i'd be nice. Having no knowledge of the show at all, it was ok. The costumes were a bit ridiculous, but original at the same time. However, I can't really be bothered with girly social politics, so most of the film just really annoyed me. FACT: My cousin's fiddle teacher is the woman who sings the old scots version of Auld Lang Syne used in the film. 5/10
  23. I Feel It All by Feist and Heartbreak To Hate by Angelfish remind me of Chairdriver! Other songs that remind me of other friends..Mercy by Duffy, You Learn by Alanis Morissette, You Are My Sister by Antony And The Johnsons, Mr.Brightside by The Killers...
  24. Oh noes! Way too early. Mega-legend.
