You can't average the two together, they're completely different. -

No as hugely disappointing as TP is to me, I would never give it an 8.8. 8.8 in comparison to other Zelda games yes. 8.8 in comparison to all other video games, no way. -
They were indeed fun puzzles, but still far too linear and the whole thing felt rushed.
-
4, fair enough. I said after 4 it speeds up. 5, again fair enough. But still too small. 6, you mean that linear, 1 room per floor, empty mess? I mean come on 'Under the Well' in OoT was bigger and better!
-
Very true, but as I said the game speeds up considerably after dungeon 4.
-
Nintendork, sidequests probably add about 5 hours to this game, if that. Very true, if TP is your first Zelda game I see no reason why you wouldn't love it. I love it and I've played every Zelda game, still I believe my points are very valid.

There are plenty of people in the rant thread that don't want to accept anything wrong with the game so I see nothing wrong with doing the same here. This is a thread to talk about Zelda TP, good or bad. The other thread is pointless Why not just 'try' it. There's an idea.

Crap things about TP: - For the most part, rubbish soundtrack. - Very dodgy looking graphics in places. - Still far too easy. - Hyrule Field may be bigger but there's pretty much nothing to do in it. - Kakariko Village is a joke. Empty, devoid of anything to do, population count of about 2. - Castle Town deceptively big. Again, not much to do. - Hardly any sidequests. - Dungeons 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are tiny. - Travel time between dungeons 4 and 5, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, 8 and 9 is practically non existant. - Coolest items hardly get used apart from in their temple. - Very few note-worthy characters - Buggy Z-Targeting/camera - NO SENSE OF URGENCY, DANGER, FOREBODING. Link could have sat in the field for 10 years and nothing would have happened. No sense of time scale like Majora's Mask. - We have no clue what the final boss WANTED to do and no evidence that he was actually doing anything. - Link and final boss don't meet until the last second, big mistake. - Ending feels rushed. - Second half of game feels rushed. - No spells, medallion type weapons or magic. - Link picking up and marvelling at rupees every 5 seconds (and randomly) - Castle town is no where near as cool as Clock Town or Windfall Island. - Story seems to have been made up as the developers went along. - Boss fights, while cool, are WAY too easy still. - Not the 70 hour adventure we were promised, more like 30-35. - No character, magic, soul in the entire game bar a couple of moments. - Zora's domain and Goron mountain were a joke. A waterfall and a room where they fight? Give me a break. - Graveyard was no where near as cool as the one from OoT - Puzzles are very simple. - Nothing to do in Desert bar 1 thing, compared to Gerudo fortress + training ground, Desert Collusus and Wasteland from OoT - Cutscenes showed promise but got crap after dungeon 4. At the end of the day, I think that Twilight Princess is a fantastic game when you compare it to other games on other platforms etc... but as a Zelda game, it's disappointing. OoT was far more special/magical/epic, Majora was way cooler, moodier, darker, Wind Waker looked amazing and felt very magical.

Yeah that's what I did. Malo's Castle Town shop is erm, odd. I'm sure some of you will love it but it's a tad over the top I think.
-
That explains a lot. You'll understand when you're older *pats moron on head*
-
Do I care? He's still not funny. 'dipshit' LOL, what are you 12?
-
Thanks for the link. Didn't like the soundtrack though Kakariko, Midna and a few of the final boss pieces are very nice. Also it's odd, I hated the Victory theme at first calling it a bit forgetfull, but now I LOVE it. Awesome tune.

What a complete wanker. Fucking hell what a loser. Mate, drinking beer and swearing doesn't make you cool. This isn't funny, you're a crap player and your arguments don't make sense. Though I can't help but laugh at his 'look at me I'm so cool cause I'm drinking beer in an oh so obvious way and swearing lots of times.' Nonce. Can't believe you guys like him, am I really the only one who sees this/him for the piece of shit that it/he is? Also it's hilarious how he pretends that he can't make a jump or get a pizza even though 1. both things are easy to do and 2. it's so painfully clear that he's doing it on purpose to be retarded and not press 'left' for the jump and 'right' for the pizza

You can use the C-Stick in the gamecube version to control the camera?? That was sorely missing from the Wii version!
-
I agree completely. Not sure what was the bigger let down, Kakariko Village or a relatively dull opening to Hyrule field. One of the few nice moments in the Link/Midna relationship: (possible but VERY light spoilers for ending): Link Midna I disagree, the GV version looks very odd to me and it looks like they made the cutscenes the prefered way around for the Wii version. Again, completely agree. Very little 'soul', hardly any sidequests, and agreed about the items.
-
Great music vid, very nice. It actually made me remember some fantastic moments in the game which is always good.
-
Still it's a rather major plot hole if no explanation surfaces...
-
True but I meant a proper Zelda game ie. OoT/MM/WW/TP Fierce Link - I know exactly what you mean, I only play it at around midnight myself. Nice and dark, no one about. Best way. (though I did play for the first time the morning of the 8th ) I think 'that' item pretty much replaced the hammer as coolest 'big weapon you hit things with'.
-
Din's Fire was indeed awesome, the cutscene for that was great! Would have been great if TP had a couple of spells. To anyone else who's completed the game... are any of you getting a bit depressed that it's all over? As in we won't have another proper Zelda for 2-3 years at least? Cause I know I am.
-
What did you expect, he's Canadian
-
Yeah that was cool! Still I prefer Midna for the simple reason that she isn't just a lens flare with wings

Ok just did the end boss again to see if the ending is better a second time and I'd say it is. The short scene just before the 'The End' was very nicely done + excellent music. I'm still extremely pissed off with 'that' happening in the ending though. What a waste. Edit: listened to the end bit of the End Credits music (ie, last 30 seconds) again, fantastic, especially with the visuals on screen. Best bit of the entire soundtrack in my opinion. Beautiful. I enjoyed this game very very much, playing the ending again reminded me of that, but its many many flaws stop it from being the masterpiece that Ocarina was. Still 10/10 in general gaming terms though. 2 critical mistakes: - Absolutely NO sense of urgency, danger or foreboding. Hyrule population probably didn't think anything was wrong the whole time. And because there wasn't any kind of threat in the air, it made the victory at the end feel a bit hollow. - Dungeon length, easyness, linearity (is that a word?) + time between levels later on.
-
Shame TP didn't get this type of emotion at the end eh (read the comments): http://www.thehylia.com/media/displayimage.php?album=search&cat=0&pos=3

The end credits are very nice, as is Kakariko. Still there should have been way more of the 'classic Zelda tune' in the game Also it is possible to download them, just right click on the media player thing, 'Properties', then copy and paste the (...).mp3 file into your browser address bar. Then just save as.
