Yeah here's hoping you're right. Off to bed, cheers for that.

Glad to hear it, but do you think the next one will be something completely different or would Nintendo not dare to upset things? As fantastic as Majora's Mask was, I like the genuine Zelda premise more, though the odd Majora/Link's Awakening is a good thing.

Hmmm... I can see what he means when he says the dungeons are forgetfull, but then on the other hand, reading your list did make me remember the cool stuff about each one. Monkeys were good, boomerang one especially. The item was cool. I can't remember the mini boss off the top of my head? The final boss was probably the worst of the game though. Iron boots sideways/upside down walking was cool though. I found this very dull, lacking in character and forgetfull. Boss was generic water bad guy. Cool temple. Cool item. Very fun, lovely setting. Boss was easy and predictable. Though it did look nice. Fun puzzles but WAAAAAYYY too easy, short and linear. Boss battle was one of my favourites but agree, too easy. Disappointed with the look of the sky temple, and more frustrating than water temple in oot I find. End boss was awesome if a tad convenient. Still in relation to other Zeldas, I find that most of those (with the exception of 4 and 5 and MAYBE 7) lacked any sort of magic or character. And the fact that the difficulty curve goes down as you progress still bugs me.

wow dabookerman makes a lot of sense, I'm finding it hard to disagree with anything he said. I definately agree that Wind Waker had more character but TP had it's own style. In many ways it was more 'weird' and odd than Majora's Mask.

Fierce Link: Fair point, but I stand by the first statement I made. 3rd children: where was that hinted?? lol that went over my head. Yeah the WW's ending was pretty horrible, MM's wasn't that great either. The one thing I loved about the Wind Waker's ending was that last scene where Link and Tetra set sail, beautiful and the music really makes it. Back on point: probably right about the fact that there's much more to do at the beginning of the game. It sort of gives you a false sense that the whole game will be like that when it turns out it isn't which is disappointing. I would have prefered for the game to start slower and gradually get bigger and better. Also:

My review of the ending: Non-spoiler version 7.5/10 - Epic, sure. Long, I guess so. Scenes as powerful as OoT and WW, nah. The final dungeon was very cool, if a bit 'empty', seemingly a recurring theme in the game. Don't expect the same old stuff as previous games, they've sort of taken a new approach this time. Past items crop up once every so often which is nice, though I would have liked to use them more. A couple of scenes are excellent, one that probably holds the title for the most emotional moment in the game, and Links reaction (however muted) really made me smile. Having said that, that touching moment amounts to nothing later on oddly enough. You'll see what I mean when you play that bit (outdoors on a sort of bridge). The final battle was pretty cool, more varied than any other game definately and it was nice to be treated to more than one 'round'. The first bit of the boss battle will make your jaw drop and is fantastic. Post-final boss... meh. Pretty short, though I have to say it was all going very well... until 'it' happened, which pretty much ruined the whole thing. Not sure why they did it, but it was dumb if you ask me. Last few scenes were ok. Music was excellent. FINALLY the classic zelda tune makes an appearance! Final battle: 8.5 Ending: 6 Spoiler comments

I agree with pretty much everything you said. 1. Hyrule field being split up into sections I can sort of handle. What I can't handle is that we can literaly warp to pretty much wherever we need to, as you say. 2. Lake Hylia was disappointing in it's uglyness. Lake Hylia in OoT was gorgeous. Remember shooting arrows into the sun to get the fire arrows? Awesome touch. I found this Lake Hylia dull, same with Zora's domain (what, a waterfall and pool?) and Goron 'city' (I use the word lightly, what was it, a few slopping sides of a mountain and a room where they sumo wrestle?). 3. Kakariko village was indeed one of the biggest disappointments in the game. It had no personality, no population, nothing to do. Castle town wasn't buzzing with stuff to do either, not in comparison to Kakariko OoT, Clock Town MM, Windfall WW. 4. I'm convinced Ganondorf was thrown in at the last second just to make the game seem more epic. A good rule for bad guys: make him/it and the main character MEET at least once way before the final showdown. Think about pretty much any film or game and you'll see examples of this. In TP, Ganondorf was a faceless enemy who Link nor Midna meet until the last second. 5. The game was so light on Hyrulian myth, the triforce... ANY sort of depth really. Did Link hold the triforce of Courage? Zelda the triforce of wisdom? I don't think so?? Though to be honest I may have missed it. And now on to my review of the ending...

Same sort of boat. Can get 2 games, 1 will be Rayman, apart from that (I've got Zelda, Monkey Ball and Wii Play) there's nothing else that great I don't think. 90% of Monkey Ball's minigames are rubbish. Even Target (amazing on gamecube) is pretty bad here, though still one of the best.

Finally decided to finish the game tonight. Not done it yet, saving it for around 11pm (I enjoy playing Zelda late at night). Very excited. Loved the idea behind the dungeon 8 boss battle, nicely done though a couple more 'stages' would have been even better!

Very nice art. Cool idea to mix real photography with Zelda imagery, lovely. EDIT: I mean the headers to each song collection, not the artwork in the 'Art' section which aren't as nice. The music itself is touch and go... On a separate note, anyone agree that the Deku Palace theme was the best tune in MM?

Sorry for a really short reply, but I think midis are fine for the game, I don't need orchestrated to like it. But I'd gladly give up the ability to advance the speech bubbles at will if it meant cutscenes were orchestrated. The music for the trailer is incredible. Wish that'd been in-game somewhere.
-
So buy a wii? The problem with orchestrated music is that it would make it very hard for the music to shift into 'danger' music, say when an enemy approaches, and then go back into the previous track when it's over. Midi makes it very easy to do this however. Having said that orchestrated music for cutscenes would be nice in Zelda Wii.

Far from perfect in my opinion but anyway. It gets very claustrophobic when there are more than 3 enemies close to you, and jumps all over the place during a battle. Plus it goes through solid objects (including doors! on a fair few occasions)

Finished the 8th dungeon. Bit small, bit repetitive, disappointed there was no new item but very very cool nevertheless. The boss battle was also EXCELLENT. Shame it completely assasinated the character's previous coolness.

It's cool, sorry from me too. Having played every Zelda since the beginning as I'm sure you have, I also consider myself a fanboy... I guess just a less accepting one

So whats all the fun and games with 8.8 Great?
motion replied to dannbrownn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'll complain if I want thanks. A game I've been waiting for for 3+ years should have been better than what it is. -
I can spend just as long if not longer talking about what's GREAT about TP, but we've all read about that before... Sorry if I piss people off

Ah but see I think TP deserves a 10 in every professional review, my 8.8 score would be among Zelda fandom when we're comparing this installment with others. -

Overall gaming score: OoT: 10 - TP: 10 In relation to all Zeldas: OoT/MM: 10 - TP: 8.8 (in my opinion of course) -
Apologies but I'm fed up with him whining about my criticism of Zelda, even after I've told him a thousand times I love the game but I see no problem with identifying it's faults. Christmas / New Year + Zelda is good though you're right - I'm saving the last two dungeons for Boxing day!

Zelda TP has some serious flaws that make for a disappointing ZELDA game, but as an all round game, it deserves a 10. -
fuck off mate I can say what I like, this is a discussion board, get over it. As soon as I say something negative about the game you swoop down with your flock of sugary praise for the game. What exactly is the difference?
