I get the impression all of this will be paid DLC... which would be a shame given how much of this was given away free in New Leaf. I actually think it's not worth making money any other way than turnips. Turnip selling is so much more profitable than anything else to the extent that you'd have to sell thousands of fruit to make the same as a decent turnip haul. If you can buy a million bells worth of turnips and keep your eye out for a place to sell them, after a couple of times you don't really need to worry about making money ever again. Which is kinda nice, allows you to leave the fruit on your trees and spend your time doing other things.

You'll also have the possibility of a coelacanth when raining though, reducing the chance of it being one of those two fish. Good if you still need coelacanth though. I'm not convinced raining ups the chance that much either.
-
And if you go to a Nook island it doesn't need to be raining for coelacanth, that's how me and some others got it. Unless they've patched that now.

Hopefully it would be more like what PS4 Pro is to PS4, and X1X is to X1. All systems run all games, just the beefier models run at higher framerates/resolutions. Although to be honest, it makes sense for it to be just another PlayStation TV. A cheap, no frills, home console version that is no more powerful than the handheld version. It would be nice if it was a more powerful console though, because even though handheld mode is nice there's no doubt I spend more than 95% of the time playing it in my house. And if I'm in my house, I'll be damned if I play it on that small screen.

No one can help you. You must face the Gazebo alone. -
And no screen! Could be quite the saving indeed...

If the host tried to end session on me after I dropped the cash I'd be force quitting that game like no tomorrow, denying all progress to him/her since the last save. I would hope they wouldn't try to do that. There are enough people that don't want anything in return when they list their island so I'd hope we wouldn't need to resort to going to these people. -

Hey! Don't suppose you're still about for a visit? -
I'm pretty sure you can't with Gulliver (went to someone's island and had no option to help him), which makes sense because once his phone is fixed there's no reason why he's need help from anyone else. Not sure about Celeste. And not sure if a visitor can help the NPCs out before the resident player.

You planning to be on much longer? Thinking I might visit later on to avoid this fiasco. -

You can leave using the - button, just don't let the timer run out (if it gets to that point). The timer only pops up after a short time, and only because other people aren't closing their menus/dialogue screens. -

There's a bit of an issue with the way this game handles saving. If a person tries to leave someone else's island, and everyone else doesn't close their windows in time, the person trying to leave will eventually get a 10 second timer appear on their screen. If they let that timer run out then they will leave the game - but it won't have saved anything for anyone since the last save. After they leave this way it then forces everyone else left to reload from the last time it saved (spawning at the airport), meaning all progress since last save is lost. The person who left also loses everything since the last save. In other words, never leave by letting that timer run out. And everyone else, close your menu windows to prevent this from happening. It's worth noting this issue also occurs if someone quits by force closing the software via the Switch menu, or turns off their system, or has a crash. The online in this game be super shit. -

I'm at the point now where I have more money than I reasonably need, so might tone down the turnip purchases on Sunday. Having shitloads of turnips stops me ever doing anything with my house because the floor is always littered with the things. -
2 weeds a day grow.

Yep, this is what I was trying to tell people earlier on in the topic but a few people were justifying it by suggesting it was part of some grand vision, or that this is how it's been in the past (never let the past prevent progress, IMO). A lot of this game is doing certain activities each day; these activities can be exhausted by a single player, leaving other players with little to do. Given that there are now user accounts it's a real oversight that they didn't make separate islands an option - I've seen quite a few gaming news sites complain about this issue too. Another issue I think is the lack of cloud saving - something that still hasn't been implemented. I personally don't understand why they would prevent this; this isn't a competitive game, and they're not exactly stopping other more serious ways to impact game balance (time travelling, for instance).

You also get lily of the valley plants growing high up on the edge of cliffs periodically once you reach 5 star too. I've got about 4 growing so far now, they just randomly appear so long as you keep your island 5 star.

@darksnowman I'd also be up for selling my turnips, whenever you're more free. Mind letting me know when it's died down a bit? I've got quite a lot of turnips, so wouldn't want to be too disruptive to people. Cheers! -
Yes on Bunny Day they re-upped the spawn rate of water eggs go give people a chance to get them again. They had actually massively reduced the chance of getting water eggs in a patch prior to Bunny Day.

Your face is a joke character. Merchant in Resi 4 was one of the best things about the game.
-
I totally get that, and I do think that games like Resi 2 (and particularly the remake) offer something brilliant (and harder) than Resi 4. Resi 2 remake was all kinds of amazing. That said, I firmly believe that RE4 is one of the best games of all time, and shaped modern third person gaming profoundly. In fact, Resi 2 remake borrows a lot from it (while also carrying over things that made the original Resi games unique). I can't say Resi 4 is overrated because I think it deserves the highest praise is possible to give. As someone who played it on the Gamecube back in the day I remember it being a revelation when it released, and I see its influence in games today. I think a RE4 remake could be amazing, although because RE4 already feels reasonably modern I wonder if there's actually too much they need to change.

Yep, I can open my gates now if that works? I'll give you the dodo code. Let me know which fossils you want in return! -
They're encouraging it by tying a reward to it. You're mistaking "encouraging" with "blatantly advertising." If a bank offers you £100 to switch to them but doesn't blatantly advertise this promotion with letters through the door (but you can still find it out about the offer by googling it or hearing from friends), they're still encouraging you to switch.
-
So if you wait until the next day, get the bronze trophy, you know about there being higher tiers next time. So the potential to grind is still there, just you do it the next time the event rolls round. Thus everything I have been saying about being encouraged to get 300 points is right. And if you look it up then you know there's a reward for 300 points right away. Which you might well be doing anyway, to check how much grinding you need to do just to get all the unique pieces of loot. Nintendo tied a reward to doing something boring for a number of hours. There's nothing you can say to counter that. You keep saying that Nintendo didn't advertise it, but you ignore the fact that Nintendo did incentivise it, by tying a reward to it. A reward that people can quite easily find out exists, either through the game (by waiting a day) or using the internet.
