Happenstance

Last week of the Summer holidays this week I've been working all Summer of course but its just so nice at the School without all the kids, parents and teachers.

I've got about 7 games Im happy to put in my top 10 so far, couldnt tell you what order yet though: Witcher 3 MGSV Batman Arkham Knight Rocket League Life is Strange Everybody's Gone to the Rapture Kerbal Space Program

Its still a brilliant game, dont get me wrong. It just gets a bit distracting when you notice Big Boss not really talking. Unless things change though, I have a feeling that this would have been my GOTY if the story had been a bit tighter but with it feeling a bit too long for its own good and the lack of VO I think at the moment The Witcher 3 is edging it out.

The difference with Ground Zeroes and this is that in GZ, he was on his own. In Phantom Pain people are standing right infront of him and he just says nothing.

Theres already been one patch, just noticed my PS4 downloaded it overnight. Just finished episode 21. Im still loving the gameplay but the lack of story is starting to get me down a bit. In fact, its probably not a lack of story, just the length of the game. If this was any of the other Metal Gear games then the amount of story probably would have been just right but its so spread out that it doesnt work nearly as well.

Wont be playing it until I'm done with MGSV but figured I would buy it now so I can have it downloaded and ready to play when I'm ready for it. Finally got around to watching more of the anime this weekend and have been enjoying it so it put me in the mood for the game.

Yeah I expect the servers will be up tomorrow.

Do you guys know much about the Sword Art Online games? I was thinking about getting one but didn't know if I need to start with Hollow Fragment or wait until Lost Song later this year. EDIT: Doesnt matter, I ended up buying Hollow Fragment on PS4 anyway.

I tried that earlier and as far as I could tell it just locked them into a certain section of the base.

Konami/Kojima were stupid enough to think that hiring a high paid actor was a good idea for a game which would need multiple sessions. What we got instead was basically a silent protagonist. Thank god the rest of the game is excellent.

I do wish Mother Base was a bit more interactive. Actually being able to go into rooms and buildings would be a start but I think something like the Mass Effect games had where on your down time you could walk around and speak to the crew etc.

I had just the one bug which came after I had completed the main story and that was just a bad guy spazzing out when he got caught in part of the world, other than that the game ran perfectly for me as well.

Exact opposite for me. Im loving the open world aspect. I finally feel like I can properly take my time, scout the areas and come up with a plan. Only issue at the moment is that the story doesnt feel as well integrated but im hoping it will start to ramp up the further I get into it. I just finished mission 10 this morning.

Yeah it has it after every mission, I think they were trying to make it feel like episodes of a TV show. And unfortunately no it doesnt save when you leave to the main menu. I've just started loading a new mission now everytime I want to quit from motherbase.

Up to about 8 hours played so far. Last mission I did took just under 2 hours but I've got to admit, it made me feel like a stealthy badass for once (until the last section). I think the last one I did was the 6th mission. Also, unfortunately at least so far it seems like people's worries about the amount of Big Boss VO were right. There's a lot of characters talking to him but not a lot of him replying. Sometimes it really does feel like you are playing a game with a silent protagonist. I dont necessarily blame Kiefer Sutherland, I just think Kojima should have known better than to cast someone who probably costs too much and wont have the time to come back for multiple recording sessions when things need to be added or changed.

The one thing I'm not entirely happy with is the saving. I did a load of stuff at Mother Base last night but because I didnt start a new mission afterwards, when I reloaded it just took me back to when I first got back to Mother Base.

Oh nice. Because I pre-ordered the Steam controller I got Portal 2 and Rocket League free on my account.

Game is installed, no updates to download. Time to start playing!

When we were moving offices they tried to get my desk facing the wall so I'd have my back to the door. I just ended up arguing that I might have stuff on my screen that would be confidential and the kids couldnt see. Actual reason was that I browse forums too much!
