Wow such a backlash over a score of 8, really? This thread reads like it was given a much lower score. As has been said a review is the reviewers opinion just cause it doesn't gell with yours (saying "yours" in general, not refering to any one person) is no need to jump down the reviewers throat. It's like every year there is at least one game we review that gets given a lot of stick for being either too high or too low from public expectation. I see Ash is being called too biased against Nintendo for giving this game an 8, yet pretty sure when he gave Skyward Sword a 10 two years ago was called too biased towards Nintendo. I read Ash's review before he published it and before he decided on the score and thought to myself "it reads like he'll give it an 8" which seems a fair score. I also don't get where this "anti-nintendo bias" opinion Ash's review has been accused of, in both how it reads and how it was scored. As I said I read his review and I found it a good read and positive, it does discuss some negetive aspects but of course it would if the reviewer found some negetives, would you prefer he sugar coat it and review the game based on what he thinks public opinion expects? Overall I found the review more positive than negetive. Ash's main con to the game (reading the review) seems to be that it doesn't feel "fresh" like we have come to expect from new 3D Console Marios. And this is something many here said when the game was first revealed and some might still think (like myself). A persons opinion can also be coloured by past experience of which we've had a fair amount of recent Mario platform releases. Ash as he said wanted to review this game because he was looking forward to it but for him it was a little too similar to past and recent games which is how the last paragraph reads to me. But then he ends the review with this. The review end on a fairly good positive note for me. Nintendo have built a history of having the 1st 3D Mario games on a home console really push and show off a console. I don't think 3D World does this. I still can't shake my opinion that this game was originally intended as a 3DS sequel to 3D Land but was switched to the Wii U to add a Mario platformer to the consoles Christmas line-up in the absence of Mario Kart. Again many here also did comment on the games first reveal that they thought it was a 3DS game..... didn't we have one person in the 3DS Thread saying they were planning on getting (or recently got) a 3DS and listed 3D World among 3DS games he was looking forward to play (can't remember who?) Opinions of many have changed over time as Nintendo showed off more and more videos of the game and people have become more positive towards it and it just feels like for someone to (in the opinion of the masses) underscore the game people seem to get offended for some reason. Here's my own personal opinion having not yet played the game on where I stand on it. When it was first revealed I was disappointed, what they showed initially didn't seem appealing for what I was hoping to experience in the next home console Mario. As I said it looked like it was originally intended to be a 3DS game, had it been a 3DS game I probably would have been more interested in it. As new videos have come out my opinion has somewhat changed, newer vids after the initial reveal made the game look much more appealing but for me personally it still seemed to fall short of being a must have Mario title in much the same way the NSMB series doesn't feel "must have" to me. After reading Ash's review has actually made me consider even more that maybe I should pick this game up for Xmas for myself (won't be able to afford it day one) which is again why I don't get where all this negetivity aimed at him is coming from

I don't mind Ronaldo, glad to see Portugal qualify and look forward to seeing Ronaldo pull off some good performances, but sad to see Sweden out as wanted to see same from Zlatan, why did they get drawn against each other Ronaldo does come across as a bit of a dick as a person but when he plays well you can't deny "he plays well" so hopefully him and the rest of Portugal are on top form come the summer. More of how they pushed Spain to the edge like at Euro2012 please Elsewhere, I see France pulled off a mircle beat Ukraine 3-0 (3-2 on agg), Ukraine must be kicking themselves for throwing that away, didn't think they would let in 3 goals, their fans must be raging. Unlucky to Iceland too, did well to draw their home leg but Croatia just too strong for them in the 2nd. In teh African Play-offs looks like no upsets after all. Algeria beat Burina Faso 1-0 (3-3 on agg, Algeria winning on away goals), unlucky to Burina Faso, was hoping they'd hold out, always like to see new countries make their World Cup debuts Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana the other 4 African qualifiers.... so the exact same qualified African teams from the previous World Cup (minus South Africa who qaulified last time as hosts of course) ONly one WOrld Cup spot left to be decided in the Uraguay/Jordan play-off but with Uraguay 5-0 up after 1st leg that should be a formality later today. So teams we'll be watching this summer are Africa Algeria Ivory Coast Nigeria Cameroon Ghana Asia Japan Iran South Korea Australia Europe Belgium Italy Germany Netherlands Switzerland Russia Bosnia-Herzegovina England Spain Croatia Portugal France Greece North/Central America & Carribean USA Costa Rica Honduras Mexica South America Brazil (hosts) Argentina Colombia Chile Ecuador Uruguay None from Oceania (feel sorry for that region) Some extra Stats (cuz I like stats ) Teams qualified that did not qualify for last World Cup Iran Costa Rica Ecuador Belgium Russia Bosnia-Herzegovina Croatia Bosnia are the only new team also making their World Cup debut Teams that qualified for previous World Cup not going to Brazil North Korea South Africa New Zealand Denmark Serbia Slovakia Slovenia The 2010 World Cup also had just one debutant in Slovakia (first time as independent nation not counting times qualified as part of Czechoslovakia)

Started a New Game+ yesterday, see how far I get before I get Zelda on Friday (won't get to play tonight due to cinema goings though) Plaing on Hard mode too (Give me Deus Ex), wasn't expecting some of the changes. Interactable items no longer have that orange outline so might be easy to miss an item by mistake. No waypoint/distance marker on your HUD but it still appears on your map, I like this No longer focused on the "X" and watching numbers tick down as you get closer. If you get lost can still look at the map to get a general direction Don't get to use your Augs in teh intro (as expected) but I managed to sneak past all the guards without being seen and without using the gas tanks After that as again expected kept all my unlocked Augs from previous play Helped me get through the assembly plant pretty quick, just turned on cloak and silent running to get trough some of the bigger rooms. Slightly annoying though is on Hard mode the you only get one auto recharge battery rather then 2 as in Normal. So gotta be quick and boost bars and other energy items are even more important. Got as far as getting into the police station morgue, decided to take different routes from my first play so took the "back door" this time instead of convincing the door man to let me in. Still accepted the first set of side quests you get too (i know I said I wouldn't but I can;t stop helping people ), again tried to do things different so when doing the one for the guy in Jensens office instead of using my social aug to convince Tindle to had over what I wanted I decided to get the gang guys off his back so knocked them out Also using the DIectors COmmentary, very interesting, also was handy at one point. Just before the social "battle" with Sanders got a commentary bit saying how they didn't program use of the Social Aug for this battle as they had paced the game to that point in a way it would be highly unlikely a player would have enough XP and Praxis points to unlock it by then....they obviously forgot bout players on New Game+ But was good I heard that commentary bit as I would have been wondering why I my social aug wasnt working otherwise, haha.

Just turned on my Wii U to be greeted by a message saying a new system update had downloaded, just needed to press "ok" to install it which look like 20seconds and it was done. Firmware now at version 4.0.2E Seems to be just a minor update, Anyone notice anything different? Load speeds maybe?

Wii U Karaoke - Joysound - EU 2013. Free Download
Mokong replied to madeinbeats's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well you shouldn't have aceepted to turn on the auto download spotpass thing after the last update then. I think this is good they are pushing out other Freeware that has come out previously. I now Wii Sports Club was the first (I saw people on Miiverse and on Facebook all confused why that suddenly appeared on their system) but thought it would only be done for new software. So nice to see them go back and do it for older stuff. Wonder will things like Tank-Tank-Tank, Google Maps App, also get pushed out to people who haven't d/l'd it yet...hell they should try pushing out some of the free demos too. Might get more people trying stuff they didn't think about before and maybe they will enjoy enough to put money down. Back on the topic of Wii U Karaoke, I still haven't used my free hour yet. Saving it for Xmas when I know it'll get used by teh family and I'll likely have to buy a 24hour pass for it after Actually just wondering is there anywhere online that lists all available songs? I'd like to see whats on there? Any chance there's any metal ? Iron Maiden? Metalica? to keep me happy -
I was thinking the same, my sister is thinking bout getting a 2DS for her son for Xmas (yes, Conor ) if I'd have been able to tell her she could get a 2nd game for him for free that would prolly seal the deal, as is it's still 50/50

Does the game keep a time stat somewhere? I never saw/noticed one in game. Checking my Wii U's Activity Log it shows I've played 51hours and 6mins on Deus Ex (across 32 sessions) I took my time a lot, did a lot of exploring (scouting new areas and such) and doing side quests. Also did rush through the levels, took my time as was trying to be stealthy so spent a fair amount of time watching guards movements and patterns for the best time to move. It may also be inflated a bit due to me reloading ALOT due to boss fights and some set pieces (like the start of 2nd visit to China for example) and if ever I was seen by a guard and set off a "hostile" alarm I would reload too (if I just "alarmed" them I'd leave it and wait for them to calm down but if I made a mistake and they actually saw me I would reload) EDIT Ah crap my big End Game post is now lost on the previous page, gonna requote it here in the below spoiler box

Well, the dude who made the vid prolly came up with his conspiricy theory cuz he is one of those nutters who don't believe in climate change so you could add it to the discussion Anyway I thought I would try to reply to someone on one of Mr. Dutchsinse's vids that the "pulses" in the graphs aren't pulses at all. Instead I was told Dutchsinse already provided "legit explanation" in his video *facepalm*

Just seen this appear on my facebook feed While it looks potentially interesting and well made, I just got this horrid feeling this will lead to an increase in regilous people who think the Bible is historic truth going "see, Noah and the Ark is real, they fit all the animals on the Ark in the film" or similar Also, planning to see Gravity on Wednesday...can't wait

Wasn't able to watch the Rep of Ireland match last night, the first of the O'Niell/Keane era, wasn't on RTE and I don't have Sky Sports so had to wait till after to watch highlights on RTE. Gotta say looks like Martin and Roy are off to a great start. Could instantly tell there was a different vibe about the players, and their performance overall was very different to how they would have played in the previous 4 years. Didn't see any long balls (though granted it was highlights maybe they didn't show any, but the analysis team afterwards seemed to just there wasn't any or much long ball play at all). Keeper would get the ball and defenders actually came looking for it instead of turning their backs and going forward looking for a long one. Defenders then passing the ball and playing forward from teh back also. Quick throw-ins, no waiting around for a designated throw-in-taker, see a chance to play the ball, get it throw it and play. Some good passing play too with some players making creative runs looking for the ball. Wes Hoolihan also getting his start and he put on a great performance that he was denied the chance under Trappatoni (Trap said Wes didn't have teh size/strength he was looking for...well as the comentry team said last night, you don't have to be big to play well with the ball) was great to see him get more than 5 mins on the field at end of the game. Players also closing down teh opposition when they had the ball, actively looking to win back possession. Was great to watch, shame I couldn't watch the full game. Now some will prolly say "sure ye were only playing Latvia, could ye do that against bigger teams?" Well that's true Latvia are a lower ranked team by comparison, but considering under Traps rein in the last 2-3 years we struggled to get wins against similar lower ranked teams and never showed any sign of creativity and passing play for extended periods let alone the full game I think it is definately a performance to happy with and excited about for the future going forward. Poland on Tuesday which should prove a bigger challenge hope to see more of the same IN other International news last night, just checked teh results of the first legs of teh European World Cup Playoffs. Some interesting results. Greece 3 - 1 Romania, well done to Greece, I actually thought this would be a tight game and that Romania would nick it, well done Greece, 2nd leg should be interesting. Ukraine 2 - 0 France, Woot go on Ukraine (In no way am I biased...[/lies all lies, mwahahaha]), but in seriousness I actually did think again this would be closer, thought France would take a win to the 2nd leg, be interesting to see how they respond next week. Iceland 0 - 0 Croatia, Well done Iceland. Actually thought Croatia would walk this one (Similar to how Ireland beat Estonia 4-0 in 1st leg of Euro Play Offs 2 years ago), not read a report on the game but just looking at the score either Iceland did well or got lucky...either way well done to them. Would like to see them qualify (would it be their first world cup?) but I think the return leg in Croatia, Croatia will prolly prove too strong. Portugal 1 - 0 Sweden, glammour match of the Playoffs this one. Tough to call even with Portugal having a one goal advantage. Would love to see both these teams in the world cup, shame we can only have one In teh Intercontinental Play-offs 1st legs, the other day Mexico 5 - 1 New Zealand, shame would love to see New Zealand get through again but vs Mexico was always gonna be a hard ask this year. I still do think it is unfair the OCEANIC region don't get even one Automatic spot, I know people will say "but the quality of teh teams their are poor", true, but New Zealand are a better team than all others in that region and do provide better performances when they do get to a World Cup (they did well in South Africa if I remember right? Didn't get out of groups but still well for them) in comparison to Tahiti at the Confederations Cup but in all likely hood if they did have one spot New Zealand would 99% of teh time get it, on teh off chance they messed up at least another team would get a chance of a lifetime like Tahiti did Jordan 0 - 5 Uraguay, ouch, while I fully expected Uraguay to win this I thought Jordan would put up a better fight and at least keep it alive to the 2nd leg. EDIT African Play-offs, 1st legs Burkina Faso 3 - 2 Algeria, interesting score, don't know much bout Burkina Faso, thought Algeria would win this. 2nd leg Ivory Coast 3 - 1 Senegal, Ivory Coast should have no issues here but I'd say Senegal will make them work hard in the 2nd leg which I think is later today Ethiopia 1 - 2 Nigeria, Actually thought Nigeria would do better, 2nd leg is tonight in Nigeria, they'll likely finish the job with no issues Tunisia 0 - 0 Cameroon, close match looks like. On paper Cameroon are prolly teh stronger and with home advatage in 2nd leg should take it but I got a feeling of an upset here. Ghana 6 - 1 Egypt....well unfortunately for Egypt that should make the 2nd leg just a formality. Ghana were the Africa team that did surprisingly well last World Cup too weren't they? Wonder will they pull off another good run this time too.

Was just googling this "HAARP" thing, never heard of it before. Never realised this "man controlled weather conspiricy" has been going on for a few years now. Apparently same guy who made the vid I posted said US storms Sandy and Irene were man made too Found this forum which has a good discussion and some proper info, as I said in OP when I watched the vid I didn't know much on the topics discussed and a lot of techno babble can sound plausible when you don't really have any knowlegde on something (though I still called conspiricy theory nutter anyway) whicch is eveident by the number of "followers" this Dutch guy seems to be getting from reading comments on the vid. ....yes saddly seems some people just watch the vid and believe without doing further research. http://www.metabunk.org/threads/super-typhoon-haiyan-haarp-conspiracy-theories.2634/ One of the people on that thread actually emailed the website the guy in the vid got the weather gifs from and the reply email said Another went through a bunch of random gifs to see if he could find similar "pulses" happening with no storm formation

STeeling that for twitter :awesome:

Just wanted to see what peeps here make of this video I will post below. I'm sure ye have heard of that massive storm that hit the Philippines earlier in the week. Today I've seen a few friends of mine post on their Facebook this video which is trying to claim the storm was man-made. He talks about microwave pulses and uses some sort of infrared weather image to show what he says is a microwave pulse that happens just before the storm forms. Now I know little to nothing about weather, meteorology, microwave pulses and weather manipluation. I watched the video over a few times and I'd think "how do we know what he calls a "microwave pulse" isn't a natural thing?" Wondering what people here think? You think the dude is a bit of a conspiricy nut or do you think he might be onto something? Here's the video Somethings I did notice in the video, the weather gif he shows (round 8:30) which shows what he calls a "microwave pulse" that starts Typhoon Haiyan the gif is dated from Oct 27-30. All sources I can find online say the storm first formed round Nov 2nd/3rd and I found the gifs on teh same site he was using for that time frame and you can see the storm form but I don't see anything that looks odd or unnatural (from my very limited knowledge)
