Finished Broforce yesterday I really enjoyed it, I loved unlocking all the 80/90s action heroes. I lost it when Brobocop and Brominator appeared. Indiana Brones sucks so bad though. He does nothing! An enjoyable if a little repetitive game with some really good retro boss battles. The last boss fight just goes on and on though.

I played MH4U on my 3DS XL with the Circle Pad Pro XL, looks huge but very comfortable. I couldn't play Monster Hunter without having full control of the camera.

Probably just me but I hate it being called Lylat Wars, it'll always be Star Fox 64 to me. Same when people refer to Star Fox on the SNES as Starwing... I had NTSC versions of both so it did confuse me when they were eventually released here with different names. It was all down to a copyright issue with the use of Star Fox in Europe wasn't it? Reminds me, I need to playthrough Star Fox 64 on the 3DS before Zero is released. It's looking likely Star Fox Zero will be my first Wii U retail purchase since May 2014. Now, cheapest place to pre-order it from?

Just finished Super Mario 64 I've been playing this for an hour or two every night for the last 2 weeks with quite a few hours put into it at weekends. At the start I was soon regretting my decision to play it, the controls weren't clicking and I couldn't get used to the controller at all, once I started the 3rd world though, everything changed. The controls were once again perfect as I remembered them nearly 20 years ago and the controller, ah, it was back to being one of my favourite controllers once again. As I was playing I was thinking back to when I was 13 and watching my brother play this for the first time, such good memories. We were both amazed by the graphics, the controller and that you could control Mario in a huge 3D world. We got it around a week after it was released in America so we had it a good 6 months before it was released in the UK. I've really enjoyed playing it these last couple of weeks, the level design & music are still great. The graphics, while aged still look decent. I started off with the intention of getting 100 coins on each world as you'll notice in the photo above, I soon lost interest in doing that as the worlds got more challenging. I'm happy with the 105 stars I ended up with. With the 20th anniversery of this game coming up, I wonder if we'll see a remaster on either the Wii U or NX, or maybe both. So, with Super Mario 64 done, I guess Super Mario Sunshine is next up... I might put that off for a few weeks/months. We'll see.

7 point lead with 6 games left. 3 wins from their last 6 games should do it as Spurs have some tricky games coming up, Man Utd at home, Stoke & Chelsea Away.

I'll give you that, some of the boss battles were good, easy but good. I did like the final boss battle.

Started and finished World 6 while watching the England match last night. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is complete! I can't see myself doing what Hero did and 100% it, its good but not that great a game. I lost all interest in the game around World 4, it became a struggle to get motivated to complete the last 2 worlds. I must say that the art style holds up so well, there was times when I was playing it that I forgot it was a SNES/GBA game and that I was actually playing a 3DS game. It was an enjoyable game to playthrough but is it up there with Super Mario Bros 3 & World, no, it's not. Its not memorable, not one level stands out. You know what is next, Super Mario 64. If I can get to look right on my TV that is. Colours were off and made it very hard to play last time I tried.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Not yet, waiting for it to drop in price. -
I really like the look of it. Its so far away from the plastic cheap looking gamepad which is exactly what Nintendo need to be going for. I hope the console is similar in style and not just a rectangle shaped brick as the Wii & Wii U were. Nintendo need to get back to making nice looking consoles. Ignoring the Gamepad, Nintendo have always made the most innovative controllers. Who knows, they could be onto a winner here.

No, I was missing a couple, no idea where though. Regarding the retro shop in Sheffield, Playtime? I completed the first 2 worlds then my 3DS turned itself off and nothing saved. Lost a bit of motivation now but I'll get it done. The art style in this game is perfect, I never owned it on the SNES, only playing it at one of my mates. I think the Playstation came out around the same time so that had my attention until the N64 hit.

Another Mario game beaten, this time Super Mario Bros. With 2,3 & World beaten, it made sense to revisit this classic. Still a joy to play, once again the difficulty spikes with World 8. World 8-3 I think I lost all my lives on due to the Hammer Bros being an absolute pain. It has been a joy to play the SNES so much over the last week or so. Next up, Yoshi's Island

Finished Super Mario Bros 2 last night. I abandoned my playthrough earlier in the week as I was just not enjoying it but I gave it another go last night and got the last few worlds done. It actually turned into an OK game by the end, the level design on the last few worlds was really good with some great boss battles. At times it doesn't feel like a Mario game with a few of the enemies looking out of place in the Mario world. Its crazy it took me so long to play this properly and finish it. We had this on the NES and I played 1 & 3 instead, same when we got All Stars on the SNES. I am glad that I finally played through the game. Anyway, the ending is superb with Mario sleeping and all the cast of the game being shown and named.

I enjoyed World 7 the most just for the fact the difficulty level spiked. It made it such a challenging set of levels to complete which on completion was really satisfying. I don't think I clouded any of the levels, trying to remember if I did now.

Finished Super Mario World via the Wii U VC (SNES Version) yesterday, I'd of liked to have played it on the SNES but I had it on the Wii so upgraded it for £1.50. Anyway, playing this straight after Super Mario Bros.3, just wow. Nintendo were on fire here, they improved on nearly everything (I'll come back to that) that made 3 great. Super Mario World is the greatest Mario 2D platformer. Hell, its probably Nintendo's greatest 2D Platformer. The music and the level design are fantastic, a great mix of challenging yet fun levels. The special world levels, Jesus, they tested me. One thing 3 has over World is the suits. Where is the Tanooki, Frog & Hammer Suits? I don't care for the bloody cape. Next up, Super Mario Bros.2

Oh my god... they showed him!
-
After checking youtube, you are correct. World is on the VC so I'll have to turn the Wii U on. Tempted to pick it up on the SNES so i can feel 10 years old again!

Finished Super Mario Bros. 3 on the SNES last night.

Sega Saturn Appreciation Thread

Thanks @King_V, now I'm looking at Saturn games on eBay. Didn't have a Saturn back in the day but managed to pick one up for £1.50 at a car boot a few years back. I love mentioning that price, its SO cheap! Definitely need to pick up Virtua Cop and a gun, I'd like to own all the official light guns for all the retro consoles I have. -
Put me down as a maybe I want to get back into this but I just need some motivation.

Really poor Direct for me, but Nintendo games just don't interest me anymore so no surprise me there. So much recycled footage throughout, show footage with Shibata talking over it as he struggles to speak English then show the same footage straight after. It happens every direct. Starfox Zero still looks average and Starfox Guard... wow, is anyone looking forward to playing that? Miyamoto seems so proud of it as well... crazy fool. That Metroid game just isn't getting any better is it? Why have Next Level Games got stuck making a mediocre metroid spin off? Monster Hunter Generations was the only positive thing to come out of that direct for me.

7/8 in a group is fine, especially if you split the groups based on the league positions. I said 8 in a group as a minimum because with disconnections and no shows, you don't want to end up with less than 6. Remember, I'm always here if you need advice.
-
Alright then, I'll give my expert advice as I had 40+ playing at one time each week and ran it for years... YEARS!!! 1. Only have 2 groups if you have at least 16 signed up, 8 in each group should be the minimum. 2. If you have less than 16, make those reserves and notify them ASAP if someone drops out. 3. See 1 4. Never use CPU players in the league 5. No other options needed. I don't quite understand why you are changing something that worked well for years. Don't change something thats not broken. But end of the day, its your league now so you can run it how you like. Regarding how you split the groups, do it by league positions, it gives those who don't win often a chance. Only have 1 league table though.
