It can be a really good game if they polish the graphics and gameplay. It feels very sketchy now. Hopefully delayed to Spring 2016 after E3 reactions.

Surprised how well 2013 turned out while compiling the list, but yeah, one has to look behind the numbers: Luigi U is an expansion pack, Wii Fit U and Wii Party U are cheap to make successors and Wind Waker is a remake. Only Pikmin 3 and Mario 3D World required significant development resources over several years.

Even if the absolute worst case happens and it only has one year left (realistically it has 3-4 years) it will still get Mario 3D World, Smash Bros. 4, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, DKCR2 and X added to its library. Maybe it will end up like Dreamcast. Very short lifetime, but still lots of great games.

Rare had an enormous output. They released 11 N64 games and 7 GBC games in less than 5 years. Retro has released 1 game over the past 5 years. Of course games had lot lower production values back then...

So, Nintendo have pretty much confirmed the Wii is dead.
Ren of Heavens replied to Caris's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think it's ridiculous that people are writing Wii's obituary before Zelda: Skyward Sword, The Last Story, Xenoblade etc. have been released. With the Wii successor not launching until mid-2012 at the earliest, I'm sure Nintendo has one or two games up their sleeve at E3 as well. With outdated graphics and online being the big complaints in its present, Wii will surely be better regarded in retrospect 5-10 years from now. -
7.5 from IGN. Reads much more positive than GI's: "Conduit 2 is a worthy addition to the Wii library, and it’s worth playing for its visuals alone. The fact that gameplay and control operate as well as they do speaks volumes for the talent at High Voltage Software. The problem with Conduit 2 is that it never breaks away from doing what other first-person shooting games have done. It’s not telling the most original story, the action doesn’t feature much diversity, and you’re not going to care about the characters. But if you want action, and you want a strong multiplayer title to fire up and explore, you’ve got a winner here." Graphics: 9.0

"If you’re an FPS-loving Wii owner that doesn’t care about single-player, or someone who adored the original Conduit, you may be able to squeeze some entertainment out of this game. Everyone else should pass." 6/10 GameInformer

I think Wii's single biggest design mistake is only 512 MB internal storage. This crucially limits both updates for the OS itself and the games as well as forced Nintendo to do a 40 MB limit on WiiWare (the iPhone App limit is 2 GB). Also demos are not doable with so little free storage. I also believe Nintendo would have sold more VC games if you could have all the games on the machine itself and not being forced to delete them/copy them to SD cards.

It was briefly mentioned back in 2008, but we haven't heard a word from it since.

As if this wasnt enough: Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii: Dragon Quest X almost finished, still Wii exclusive

The Euro line-up for the rest of the year just got twice as good.

Dual-language voice-overs!? Almost sounds too good to be true. Hopefully not a bad April Fools joke...

Original DS has only 4 MB RAM (same as N64), Gamecube has 40 MB, Wii has 88 MB, original PSP 32 MB. I'm no expert, but I guess with stereoscopic 3D you have to render everything twice, so games with 3D turned on are twice as demanding graphics-wise.

Definitely Retro. Nintendo bought them around the time when they sold their Rare shares. Metroid Prime was a milestone. DKCR is just as good as the old Rare trilogy. I hope and think their next move will be a brand new IP.

3 Mario games, 2 Kirby games, 1 DKC game. Too many platformers... Nintendo has some great franchises in other genres. I hope they will resurrect F-Zero (racing) and Pikmin (strategy) for Wii at E3.

No excuse. Microsoft managed to put out Sakaguchi's Lost Oddyssey in both US and Europe only two months after the Japanese release. I feel it's like this everytime Nintendo releases a handheld, the home console supports suffers. It's like 2005 over again when all eyes were on DS. After RE4 early that year the Gamecube was almost forgotten by Nintendo and third parties. And like now we were waiting for a new Zelda...

Does anyone else think this generation is poor?
Ren of Heavens replied to Caris's topic in Other Consoles
I really feel things have changed over the past 17-18 months since this thread started. 2010 has been an amazing year for Wii and stuff like Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain and Red Dead Redemption are pushing the envelope on HD consoles. Not to mention all the creativity and originality found in a lot of downloadable games. With the promising 2011/2012 line-up (on the HD consoles at least) I think this will be the best generation ever in terms of number of high quality games. -
Yeah, the best year. Mario Galaxy 2 as the big flagship AAA title, hardcore/nostalgia stuff for Nintendo fans in Sin & Punishment 2, Metroid: Other M, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Goldeneye 007, Monster Hunter 3 as the best online game on Wii so far and No More Heroes 2 and Red Steel 2 was solid successors and some good stuff on WiiWare. 2011 looks to have even better first party support with Kirby's Epic Yarn, The Last Story, Mario Sports Mix and Zelda: Skyward Sword announced already, but sadly lacks any really interesting third party games to look forward to.

GOTM in the hardest month of the year. PS360 reviews for comparison: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (PS3/XBOX360) – 9.25 Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3/XBOX360) – 9.0 Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (PS3/XBOX360) – 8.75
