  1. Enjoy it while you can, because once you get to Like a Dragon... Well, let’s just say the story there is about as grounded as a UFO. I think I’d quite like to replay 6 at some point, if it ever gets released on PC that is.
  2. You shouldn’t need to be at 99 for the final Millennium Tower, but... ...yeah, I’ve got the entire party at Lv 99 and had several attempts at it now, but can only survive the first few battles! Have started levelling up in different jobs as well, see if that helps. But even with making use of the Invested Vagabond technique + job EXP boosting items, it’s a time-consuming process.
  3. Nicely done @Hero-of-Time! And yeah, there is so much stuff crammed into Yakuza 5, they went a bit OTT with the amount of content really. I’m almost afraid to ask this... but are you starting Yakuza 6 soon?
  4. Thanks for the heads up. I’m now going to wait until next year to resubscribe and play it though, as I’m still enjoying the end-game content in Yakuza Like a Dragon, and then want to get fully immersed in Cyberpunk 2077 next week!
  5. Have you already played it on Xbox though, or were you always planning to wait for the Switch port? Anyway, it’s looking pretty good in the trailer at least. The Digital Foundry vid should be interesting.
  6. I’m more interested as to when it’s coming to Game Pass for PC. Although it’s probably going to be too late now, what with Cyberpunk around the corner (maybe ) so I probably won’t get to play this until next year anyway.
  7. Only had a very quick look at the app, but I don’t think you can place Nook orders on it, it’s just to see what items are already in your catalog. For me this just makes the fact that there’s no quick visual indication for what you already own in-game all the more annoying. All of that data is being tracked so why the hell not present that useful information to the player in a straightforward way? We shouldn’t have to open up and scroll through an ever expanding item list (either in-game or on an app) just to check if something has already been purchased before. I hardly even bother to visit the shop anymore as a result of that design oversight.
  8. I listened to those tunes on a run once, almost ended up in hospital! That level of hype should be illegal. I loved the taxi stuff: I see the vid no longer appears on that post, so here it is again: Just don’t listen to it while running!
  9. Cannot believe I didn't notice this before:
  10. Dude. I reckon you might be eligible for Guinness World Record at this rate! Can’t imagine many people have played so many Yakuza games back-to-back.
  11. Great to see you enjoying it. You’re not making a start on 5 already, are you? That’s the biggest game in the series, well... it was, until Like a Dragon.
  12. Be sure to make use of Ichiban’s Peerless Resolve skill too. Poundmates are also a good way to deal decent damage in boss battles, although they can be expensive. I’m only 1 achievement away from 100% completion now, but having had an attempt at the objective that’s required to unlock it, I don’t think I’m going to be obtaining it anytime soon! The jump in difficulty level is absolutely ludicrous!
  13. The fact Nintendo never discount their own games more than 33% is unbelievably stingy, especially for stuff that’s already several years old! They’re quite literally light years behind every other platform/digital store out there, it’s actually embarrassing at this point. Even on the Mario 35th anniversary sale they stuck to their guns at 33%, an additional 2% was clearly out of the question!
  14. Finished the story last night. As expected, the final boss was a nightmare... As for the story... Anyway, exceptionally strange story and the odd annoying boss battle aside, Yakuza Like a Dragon was a blast from start to finish. The new characters are fantastic, the presentation is top-notch, the humour is probably the best it has ever been in the entire Yakuza series and the amount/variety of content it offers is absolutely immense! Highly recommended.
  15. Yep, it wasn’t. Got the final upgrade just now, for a whopping 20 million! OK, looks like it’s time to end this... Here we go!!!!
  16. Nice one, H-o-T! Man, you’re getting through these like someone who eats Yakuza games for breakfast, and right now is very hungry!
  17. Been on the final chapter for a while now (at the point of no return) but I can’t bring myself to finish the game! Have done all the substories, fully completed the business management mode, Dragon Kart, reached maximum bond with the entire party ect... so will have no choice but to initiate the final story event soon. That said, there is still a lot of stuff left to do, but it’s getting unbelievably grindy now. For example, upgrading Ichiban’s exclusive weapon. Have done countless upgrades already and every time it requires even more rare items and money. The current upgrade I’m on requires 12 million yen! And I’m pretty sure it’s still not even the final one! Also, some of the late game fights are just ludicrously drawn-out. @Hero-of-Time, you were complaining about some of the fights in previous Yakuza games being annoying, due to enemies blocking all the time, right? (I remember some of them having about 10 different health bars too. ) Well get ready for the turn-based equivalent of all that when you play this! I do get why they did it for certain boss battles, as it would be weird if you could just breeze past them due to being over levelled or having the very best gear, but yeah, it can make some fights last such a ridiculously long time. Obviously not done the final boss yet, but based on what I’ve seen so far I’m expecting it to be a very time consuming fight indeed. Anyway, I shall report back once the credits have rolled for some final thoughts. But even as things stand, this is easily game of the year for me. Have absolutely loved it!
  18. Yakuza games often have intensely violent/gross scenes in them, but damn... I was not prepared for the one that kicked off chapter 13! You can see it coming, but I was totally expecting the actual moment to happen off-screen... nope as graphic as can be! It left me like Rod and Todd Flanders after watching Itchy & Scratchy!
  19. Damn it. They must have seen my earlier post and changed it.
  20. Can’t remember for sure now, but think they might have been. Akiyama’s fighting style is awesome... those kicks! You do get to bash people over the head with motorcycles as Saejima though, which is incredibly entertaining and satisfying. Oh shit, I’d forgotten about that scene. Yeah, disturbing stuff.
  21. Nothing can prepare a longtime Yakuza fan for the unbelievable awesomeness that is chapter 12 in this game! Seriously... that was AMAZING!! I was worried that I might have been getting slightly too levelled up, but the showdown in that chapter has very clearly confirmed that was not the case. Man, I don’t want this game to end.
  22. Yep, exciting stuff. Although it’s probably a good few years away at this point.
  23. I’d have recommended that regardless to be honest. As incredibly impressive as these wonder ports to Switch are, given the choice I’d always try to play them on a platform where they run more comfortably. Same goes for Doom Eternal, definitely plan to play it on PC, but just waiting for it to show up on Game Pass now.
  24. I’m betting on it being Yakuza 6, mainly because that’s the only one I ever got the platinum on*, and if I can do it, well you sure as hell can! *got very close on 4 as well actually, think I only needed 1 more trophy there but never managed to get it while I was still subscribed to PS+. Anyway, nicely done H-o-T. Looking forward to hearing about your future Yakuza adventures. Be careful not to get burned out though, if you really are planning to jump straight into the next one!
