Anyone know what the update for this was all about? Installed it earlier, but I don't notice anything new/different.

Jett Rocket II: The Wrath of Taikai (eShop)
RedShell replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
*starts playing Jett Rocket II* ... Why is the game giving out so many extra lives? ... *arrives at first boss* Oh. Anyone else pick this up? -
So I was looking away from the screen during the Mario 3D World bit... Unfortunately I could still hear it. :o :o Oh My God! @/nando/, I take it that's what you were referring to in the PM you sent me? I managed (somehow) to resist looking at the TV, so I still don't know what's going on gameplay-wise there, but oh man, my hype for SM3DW has just gone off the chart!!!!

Let's see...*checks back through thread* My first visit from Gracie was on the 20th of August, and the last visit was on September 14th. I remember thinking it was taking ages to get the 4 visits/checks from her, but by the looks of things I was actually quite lucky.

AC Snowmen! I look forward to dropping the first snowball in the river by accident.

I hear ya, /nando/. I got a bit addicted to the trampoline game myself when trying to reach 1000m. And even though it's a game that isn't exactly much of a workout (like many of the balance games really) if you play it enough in a short space of time, you definitely start to feel it. By the way, the timing for extending your legs on that game is really important. You need to extend a few seconds after touching down, but if you squat for too long your Mii will just bounce of the trampoline by itself and you wont get very much height at all. You can also listen out for the sound the trampoline makes after landing, once you start to hear a stretching sound it means your very close to auto-bouncing (that's what I'm calling it :p) so you need to extend at that point. Anyway, the only exercise I really struggle with in Wii Fit is the Press-up & Side Stand. My upper body strength is clearly in need of a lot of work, because I seriously feel like Mr. Burns whenever I do that exercise. So yeah, my goal is to get to a point where I can do those a bit more comfortably. Classic. Also, is that a Wii Speak I see? What's that still doing as part of your setup?!
-
Yeah, I'd like to know if that's gonna happen too, as I'm currently holding off getting it on PS3. Dat slap bass...

Nope. The problem is that Nintendo went out of their way to suggest that online was the defining feature with this, it's was always presented as the main focus of Wii Sports Club. Things like the video of Iwata playing online, and a commercial with Andre Agassi that was exclusively about the online, etc... From the moment Wii Sports Club was revealed it was always about the online. That's why they needed to go all out with that aspect of the game, but they didn't, and instead went completely backwards, omitting features which should be standard, and that they've already included in other games. That's gotta be a sarcastic post, surely? Or perhaps they're just living up to their username.
-
It really is sad, yeah. I mean this could've been huge, and a great way to start turning things around for the Wii U. In a way it's also a shame that so many people are picking it up regardless of the inadequate online, because doing so will only give Nintendo the impression that they can get away with that level of functionality. That said, I can't blame anyone for getting this, what with all of us Wii U owners being so damn starved of games. Good luck meeting up for a game.

So it turns out there's an overall progress area in the Fit Meter Challenge section. :awesome: If you click on the blue button in the corner of the screen, on either the walking or climbing challenges: it'll take you here: and you get to trample multiple Mii heads in quick succession! Here's an updated pic of the plaza: Nice to see so many Fit Meters now. Only 20 people in the N-Europe community though: Although that's probably how many of us on here actually own a Wii U.
-
Oh man. At this rate it's going to get to the point where Nintendo never allow user generated content in their software. I wonder what this means for the European/US release of Flipnote 3D too.
-
On the dancing games? I've missed the odd move here and there, despite being spot-on with my timing. You don't actually need to do a Wii System transfer in order to use your current Wii Fit/Wii Fit Plus save data (I've not done the system transfer myself), you can do it by just having the original Wii Fit save file on an SD card and copying that over. And yes, whether you continue your save file or not, it's definitely worth getting Wii Fit U.

Anyone else download this then? I've been pretty much glued to it since Thursday afternoon. My first experimentations in KORG M01D... Starts out chilled, but then I go mental with the flute: Audio Had a lot of fun making this one, got an 80's/Beverly Hills Cop/GTA V vibe: :awesome: Audio Messing with 8-Bit sounds: Audio Very rough WIP of a Mario Circuit remix, all over the shop at the moment: Audio Anyway, I'm really loving this app. So many sounds and so many possibilities, reckon I'll be using it for ages! BTW @Fused King, to answer your question about a tutorial from the eShop thread, well I'm afraid it's as I expected, no tutorial at all. Just 4 demo songs and you're on your own. There is of course the digital manual (which I've only looked at briefly) that goes into detail about all of the various functions of the software though. : peace:

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Baffling isn't it? What makes it more so is that the tools are there, both the 3DS and Wii U are more than capable of offering decent online features. Features that should be an integral part of both systems, but for some inexplicable reason, Nintendo continue to treat online as a complete afterthought, with features/options being all over the shop throughout various titles. Sometimes they get it right, with recent examples being Pokémon X/Y and Animal Crossing New Leaf. But more often than not they get it very wrong indeed, as seen with the recent Wii Sports Club. If they'd just implement a decent instant messaging/chat service as part of the OS, then so many of the online issues would be gone, but they don't. It's beyond confusing. -
Positive. Unless I've got 2 dodgy Wii Remote Plus and 2 dodgy Wii Motion Plus accessories too. Now that would be unlucky. I've had the same problem with every Motion Plus game. It works perfectly at first, but after a while the accuracy drops completely. You can see it visibly on screen too, in Skyward Sword, Link's sword would move on its own to the left or right. I'd recalibrate by pressing down on the d-pad which would make the sword point forward again, only for it to instantly start moving to the side... again! The exact same thing happens in Wii Sports Club. Tennis racquet pointing forward, 2 seconds later, moving to the side. Recalibrate with the D-Pad... same thing happens again. And once that starts happening the only fix is batteries out and start again. You can imagine how annoying Zelda was at times thanks to that. But in a way it's even worse in this, because it's not like I can just stop playing during an online match to take the batteries out of my Wii Remote! I'm still a bit surprised that Nintendo stuck with Motion Plus on Wii U, although I suppose with so many people having already bought it, they didn't want to change the setup again. But in a way I think it would've been better to just create a new and improved remote for the new console. There's no doubt that motion technology has moved on quite a bit since 2008/9, it would've been nice to see some improvements in stability with a new controller at least.
-
Nope, it's nothing to do with how you hold the Remote. By not recalibrating I mean that even when the remote is placed on a table, it simply won't recalibrate. The little Wii Remote icon on the calibration screen keeps turning and eventually it'll say "recalibration failed" or something like that. Anyway, I made a complaint post on Miiverse, let's see what happens. If they patch in some improvements to the matchmaking, especially for Friend games, then I may consider purchasing the pass for Tennis in the future. Otherwise, no way!

Get yourself in the N-E community already!

Definitely having second thoughts about even getting the Tennis pass now. This can actually suffer from some terrible lag at times, and I've already been stuck in several games that were completely unplayable. It's also serving as a harsh reminder of just how unreliable Wii Motion Plus can be. I often find the precision goes out the window, and I'm unable to recalibrate by down on the D-Pad, or placing the remote on a flat surface. The only solution is removing and then reinserting the batteries. It's not a dodgy remote either, as I've tested several (including the attachment version too) and after a while they all suffer the same fate. Motion Plus is just flaky tech, always has been, always will be. It's a shame, because when this is working as intended it's really quite good. Oh well.

With the online set-up in this? Yeah right. See you next year for the MK8 League.

Leave it on? I've been working out that entire time! :awesome:

Just finished downloading now. It's 384 blocks.

Downloading now...

Before playing this I was certain that I'd be buying both Tennis & Bowling, but now I think I'm just going to get the pass for Tennis. Don't get me wrong, Bowling is as awesome as always, but it clearly works better as a local-multiplayer game. While playing online you're spending half the time just watching other players take their turn, it's kind of boring. If there was voice chat for friend games it'd be OK as you could just chat in-between turns, but as it is you might as well be playing the single player mode. Tennis is amazing online though, much quicker to find games than bowling too, it's basically instant. And so far I haven't experienced any issues with lag.
