  1. No that still wouldn't make him your sister and you'd have a motorbike
  2. Silly decision giving Sherwood the job in the first place but you have to feel a little sorry for him. His record wasn't that bad but you always felt he never had the full backing of Levy. @dazzybee must be delighted that he's finally gone.
  3. The only thing there is if it's not mandatory then developers are less likely to incorporate it. It's better that it's there for everybody to use and not an optional extra purchase, e.g. N64 expansion pak or wii motionplus. Still, Nintendo haven't made the most of the gamepad. I wouldn't remove it, I use it for browsing and so far has minimal purpose but it has potential. The only thing is my hand cramps when holding it for a long time with one hand and the battery sucks.
  4. From the briefing yesterday. Had Nintendo been selling the Wii U at a reasonable rate they could have been selling it at a profit long ago perhaps. They're only now selling the last of the inventory from launch a year and a half later. This I believe is why the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle has awful skin covers for the gamepad rather than being manufactured in true colours like the Mario remote. Once the backlog clears I hope to see different colured SKU's going forward. By Christmas we'll see if they're different because the only thing that's been different from the black and white was the Wind Waker gamepad. That was minimalistic, just the front of the gamepad and limited production. Oh and the different colours will go nicely with the €50 price drop just in time for the holidays.

  6. Damn! Now I've to do a google search for Shadowgate to see if that's coming to Wii U. I hope it is, I like games like that. Very good episode, I don't visit IGN anymore, fell out of love with them after everyone leaving and their hate for Nintendo. I still visit their forums daily but not the main site. I'd be interested in more stuff like that. All very relevant about Iwata and agreed with nearly everything they said. The thing is it's Iwata's mess, so he should fix it and he has had some great successes. If he was this side of the pond, he'd have been toast a long time ago.
  7. @Serebii Are you Reggie in disguise?
  8. http://mynintendonews.com/2014/05/08/looks-like-amazon-germany-is-getting-a-steelbook-edition-of-mario-kart-8/
  9. I hope that was asked in jest? Have you not noticed the dearth of 3rd party support? It's by far the worst supported platform ever released from Nintendo. That's partially because of weak specs compared to the competition. Things only get worse, not better from here on. If you own multiple consoles or are only interested in Nintendo games then you can gloss over this but I only buy Nintendo platforms and the Wii U is in bits.
  10. It's not bull and is full of FACTS. Oh it's TIME so what do they know about gaming, right? But you pick the bit about QOL to agree with because it's positive. Articles like this have far more reach and influence than say you or I discussing in forums whether Wii U has been a disaster.
  11. Last couple of points: - Iwata: for emerging markets, $30-60 game prices are difficult. Need something new, but won’t be this fiscal year, studying China changes - Iwata: the Wii U forecast of 3.6 million don’t think it is peak, wanted to be more conservative this year http://nintendoeverything.com/details-from-nintendos-investor-briefing-5714/ I thought it belongs here as it covers more than just sales. [Trailer] Wii U Quick Boot Menu - More Footage
  12. Fairly damning article from TIME and you can't argue with it. Articles like this just sinks the Wii U further to its watery grave in the minds of Joe Public. http://time.com/90801/nintendo-wii-u/ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Details emerging from Nintendo's Japanese investor briefing: - Iwata saying 3DS hit 43 million - Helping is next Pokemon, Tomodachi Life in June internationally - 3DS third-party titles to come include Monster Hunter 4G and Youkai Watch 2 in Japan - Wii U: want to regain momentum with 2 signature titles in Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. - System update in June will speed up start up by 20 seconds - First smart device app will be available by end of fiscal year - This is called Mario Kart TV and will enable sharing of game movie and rankings - In June, Japanese users will be able to use SUICA transport cards for payments on Wii U through NFC - On IP licensing: nothing to announce today, but Nintendo is looking at a joint agreement - Limited profit, so Nintendo is looking at non-games usage for licensing - Will launch figurine business called NFP – NFC featured platform - Nintendo showed Mario figure across many games being used including saves - NFP game and figures will be shown at E3 - 3DS will also get IR NFP reader so figures can be used across Wii U and 3DS - Wii U target of 3.6 million units will need more manufactured than in current inventory - Nintendo not experiencing a loss from hardware anymore - More Wii U games at E3 - NFP has been in development since last year - Nintendo would rather make not just make a figurine, but something that does more - Nintendo hopes to show related games in development at E3 for the NFC tech - Iwata saying that for this fiscal year (through 3/15), the goal is to increase profits - 3/16 fiscal year: not grow dramatically - 3/17 fiscal year: develop pillar for growth with growth - Iwata: we are preparing for next generation hardware as always, when will it release? 15. You have to wonder how the Wii U ever got the green light? I could just imagine Nintendo making a pitch to Dragons Den and being shot down in flames. They wouldn't get backing from anybody. It was/is bad on every level. A system released without a proper OS ready. Way overpriced. But still selling at a loss. Still overpriced. Game droughts. Struggling with HD development. No online Nintendo games. Shoddy compared to the competition. Weak wifi. Only 1 person gets to use the new controller. Can't easily buy replacement gamepad. Which costs a fortune. Terrible battery life. No proper unifed account system. Very poor VC release plans, limited systems available. No truly innovative games. Technology that is 7 years too late. Nintendo TVii. Poor 3rd party relations. Didn't consult them on what technology they might like. No 3rd party games. Poor advertising budget and campaign. Naming it Wii U. The list goes on forever. It is a complete disaster. Sony or Microsoft couldn't have sabotaged it any worse if they tried.
  16. It's not that simple. Who's going to be selling the Wii U in say even a years time?
  17. While it's about time Nintendo posted a realistic sales forecast for Wii U, 3.6 million suggests to me that we're not getting any blockbusters in the next year and that they don't expect Smash Bros. and MK8 to majorly drive sales. It really does look like it'll do worse than Gamecube, way worse. How much longer can they continue to struggle with Wii U? Christmas 2015 would be optimistic.

  19. They're all men and have yet to be announced for Smash Bros. Surprise?

  21. http://mynintendonews.com/2014/05/05/eurogamer-confirms-mario-kart-8-is-1080p-and-60fps-even-in-two-player-split-screen/ That's really cool news and it'd be nice if that's what they aim for with all future games. The videos look nice but I'd say they don't do the game full justice. I know there's a way of making youtube videos run at 60fps but not exactly sure how.
  22. What's the best price people have found online for this game? I'll be damned if I get ripped off by Gamestop. They want €70 for the limited edition game and blue shell and €60 just for the game. No chance! Postage wouldn't be cheap I bet for the LE..
  23. Fair play to Spurs that they're losing to West Ham. Getting players sent off, scoring own goals and even letting Downing of all players score a goal. All the while making it convincing. Now Man United have a hard act to follow and will have to contrive a way to make it believable that they lose to Sunderland. It's like a game of pass the parcel with the parcel being the last spot in the Europa League. Only thing is nobody wants it. I hope United get it.
