Interesting, it would indeed seem far more logical to have one laser that loads GameCube discs all in one disc drive than whatever the hell was going through my mind.. I figured it could be some kind of rotating laser on a pivot that spins 180 degrees to read another disc. Perhaps this could be related to the Revolution's final secret.. I remember seeing some obscure images of blue lasers coming out of it onto some kind of screen but everyone claimed they were fake.

I know it might seem stupid but what is this for? Part of me thinks.. It's the gamecube drive.. but surely that would be really inneficient use of engineering space? because there would need to be two lasers that way probably. Besides I thought I heard the console would be dual loading single slot loading disc drive thingy? Could it be some kind of motion sensor laser thingy? Or the bay for expansion for the DVD dongle/remote? Like an I.R reciever or something? Because as we can see in this picture: It seems that Nintendo plans to have the chipset mounted from the top with GC memory cards and controllers all fitting in there.. we heard there might be SD expansions.. or something like that. Perhaps it's merely an antenna for the wifi? I don't know but could someone tell me/shed light on this.. edit. okay everyone misunderstood, I meant the first picture which i've now embedded into the post. what we know? the top of the console takes 4 gamecube controllers, perhaps wavebird controller dongles and 2 gamecube cards. it appears that gamecube and revolution discs all go into the one slot loading drive and nintendo have engineered a system for gamecube discs. what we don't know is what the little panel is for on the front.. part of me thinks it is for SD cards and we have contrary comments in the thread. some say it's confirmed for SD cards (this i'm unaware of) and from a engineering point of view it would be easier to put SD card slots on the top.. and they just forgot to do it on the prototype shots. the other poster believes that iwata said "the revolution is in here" which suggests it could be more than SD.. though we do know that SD will be storing the downloadable content.

Nintendo News | Microsoft Manager Knocks Revolution Online
Nintendork replied to Nintendo Fan's topic in Nintendo Gaming
CBA to read it, because I know it will just be banter. xbox would be foolish not to be worried by a fully supported first party free games service. They saw the numbers of the DS Wi-Fi connections.. and they also see the numbers that consoles outsell portables. I'd be worried, Xbox silver does not compare. -
New patent - Voice-to-text chat conversion for remote video game play
Nintendork replied to djamb3's topic in Nintendo Gaming
They patented 'floor vision' and only used it at the Games event. This is a nice technology for Nintendo to have in it's repetoire.. much like the DS handwriting technology featured in brain trainer 2. If it is used or not it remains to be seen.. I think it's a clever idea, but it's not ground breaking. I think the idea of talking to a game is still weird.. I don't like using nanocarp in public because you have to talk to them and clap and junk. Could be a laugh for some party games.. but not a full immersive game experience. -
The buttons on the DS are too small. Can't be arsed to read all you want.. Nintendo is a cultural icon.. it is aimed at kids, but big kids.. we've had Nintendo 20 years now.. it's part of everyone and a household name. We were kids when we played it, and our kids will play it.. I think they are still a child orientated company.. but they cater for their children that grow up and still have brand loyalty. Ultimately.. the argument that Nintendo only make kiddy games is not sound. The argument that Nintendo have touched us all as children and perhaps captured that magic for us however is more debatable. I was playing electroplankton today and smiling like I did when I was a kid.

Fishing game.. there has to be one in the works.

It's not big enough to warrant. Keep your eyes on Engadget/Joystiq. Google news feed (tech) is also rad. Don't bother with those jackasses at digg.

I believe the warioware title is called Warioware 'pushed' after we've had touched for the DS and twisted for the GBA featuring the motion sensor. It seems like natural progression to me and I feel it's safe to assume that's the title. Did raid over the River get a publisher? Bling. WTF is project IM? please do not say it is a version of ping pals.. basically only THQ are stupid enough to ship that junk.
-
I will enjoy this.
-
I don't buy it.. Nintendo want their system to be fresh.. I think it will be a totally ingenious zen inspired simple design that uses the controller in a mind boggling way. None of this typical menu junk which almost holds the console back as soon as you turn it on.

Educated guesses. Estimating by choosing a middle point between best and worst case scenario based on what is realistically possible. Bring on the Smash bros.

It wont fail, not at that price.. it can't fail. Nintendo will make a profit.. and co-exist with their developpers and consumers on a marginal market. Apple got by on a meager 3% catering for the high class of computing consumers.. then the iPod changed it all.. they realised they could offer people cheaper computers like the mini and the shuffle. Nintendo can survive.. Can someone fill me in on the entire Sega story? with a link.. because I really don't know where they went wrong. Nintendo wont be gone in our generation.. I find that so so hard to believe.

Can you smell what the bull is cooking? Hmm.

Nintendo Power: Keep your eye on Reggie, February 9th
Nintendork replied to Stocka's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If it is an event on expanding the market, and there are people investing money in ideas.. then they will want assurance that their investments are not at risk. They will want information on their past year of achievments, but they will also want to strategic plan for this year too.. the business people don't take risks in this world.. I think reggie will use the DS success as an example for the revolution success and the investors will be lapping it up. No announcements for the revolution? Possibly.. but it will not be silent. The 'final secret' of the revolution will not be unveiled here. It's not even a press event is it? -
Ubisoft is developping a 2D fps shooting, it's not very fun. The game No End Soon is meant to be ironic because the seemingly endless coridoors of shooting that you encounter throughout the game. They fired the guy with all the ideas it seems..

Did sunshine suck or something? No fanboy replies please. I mean in comparison to 64? I've not played any Mario games since the NES version.

All hail captain sensible.. I've been saying it since he spewed the news on the Black and White game.. He makes very good educated guesses.. based on a series of RSS feeds which he closely watches for trends and then says something. My above comment went un-noticed.. but it was to intended to say that he should keep his mouth shut before he gets chased out the forums with pitchforks and fire. - Black and White game? IGN has had information on the black and white DS game creatures for some time.. the controller and touchpad work very well with the hand of black and white.. the development studio are very open minded and no doubt have a game in development.. this is common knowledge. - Black and white consoles? We've all seen the press release.. Nintendo like to experiment with colours, they want to appeal to all.. and those two colours work well as a basic boost. Keeping the colours two tone means they can whack out as many as possible for launch.. introducing more colours to boost sales at a later date. - Ubisoft information mentioned here? He's said nothing.. anyone can say nothing. I have information from Hideo Kojima who was on my flight back from Japan.. he said the game is.. oh I wont mention it.. I'll think about it. - Other stuff i cba to say
-
I think they packaged Mario 64 to make launch in a rush.. it was just because the launch was so piss poor. Personally I don't rate it as a DS title.. It's not on my list of priorities to play at the moment. I've not played it on the 64 though.. so I will do one day.

I would put my money on 128 working with the controller because Miyamoto wants to make people smile.. he considers that his job. It's clear that more people will pick up a game with a touch pad like on the DS and the revolution controller.. because it is easier to control. It is hitting the demographic of people who wouldn't play a game if it required pressing 16 different buttons in a variety of different combinations. Miyamoto will reach a new audience of people and will be taking pride in his work.. making millions of people smile. I would put a vast amount of money on it in fact.. I can't see a logical reason why it would not work. What I can't predict is what add on Miyamoto will come up with.. if at all to make Mario 128 the must have individual title.. after all those clogs don't tick in his brain for nothing. It could be something really rad we've not thought of yet.. we're all so swept up in the use of the FPS nunchucka and the pointer to move Mario. If the add-ons are cheap enough to bundle with a game like Mario 128.. then surely Mario 128 will be the shining benchmark that choses to do so.. it's the console flagship.

If I were BigTac I wouldn't share the information after reading this thread.
-
I'll have a.. I can't decide now. White one definitely white. FPS central, we've got metroid, a killer 7 title with kojima.. an unreal title, and an ubi title. I'm happy with that.
-
I demand it on launch.. I really wont buy the console until Smash bros and Mario 128 are both available.
-
Miyamoto will make it fun and fresh.. i think there will be a mixture of types of gameplay.
