  1. That's bullshit, because if you think about it.. there's many hypothetical situations that the xbox 360 can render in real time that the revolution wont be able to. Now to the untrained eye 'aesthetically' they will be the same.. but the revolution has so much processing power for AI.. you know how many cars they have planned for Gran turismo? all with individual pit crews, weather effects.. crowds, things the PS2 could not render.. while visually GT4 and GT:vision may look very similar on average joe TV.. they are not on par. You're all thinking on a 1 dimensional level.. and I seriously doubt any of you have hardware/software engineering experience. From what I understand the PS3 is so overkill that it can output information at a frame rate 3x faster than that the eye can theoretically see.. because of limitations of the biology of retinal cells. edit. reading back I don't want to seem arrogant, but we're all missing the point here, have some faith that the system will work well and handle AI and things properly.
  2. Well executives from capcom and other fellow Nintendo developpers were probably at brainstorming sessions.. Obviously they need to be kept in the loop so they can develop inventive games. Before signing the internation secrets act of course :F
  3. I expect so, they're going that way with the nintendo DS. But what should be noted is that DS games, well many are quite simple.. home games can be considerably more complex. So importing might not always be great. But I reckon chances are high games will be region free DVDs, the system is being made to accomodate a generic production. DVD playback is going to revolve around a centralised dongle to be purchase in a particular region. If you want to play US DVDs in europe, you might have to import a US dongle and the dvd in the first place. By doing this nintendo can hammer out consoles cheaper and quicker and box them up with a localised cable. Much like Apple do with iPods and computer, until the EU stepped in and made them reduce the volume of the thing by 30%
  4. Yeah.. full force rumble feedback shoulder pads so when you're running in game or driving you get the force of gravity put down on you extra. Or you can just set them to massage full time.
  5. 'fun, anyone?' a controller that regulates the sweat in your palm when playing in summer would be nice. i could like secrete ethanol every so often when the controllers built in thermometer (?) reaches a certain level.. yeah
  6. /me meant 'ran' the business philosophy hasn't changed.. it can't, shareholders and stockholders.. whatever you want to call them would not invest in a company taking mindless risks, just to help out a few game developpers indirectly. Their aim is to profit, so they can keep making games.. just like the others.
  7. Erm Goku, how dare you try and condescend me with some vaguely unrelated information about Nintendo's business strategy. Yamauichi is a businessman, he runs Nintendo and he does not take risks in a business world. To develop a console costs a huge amount of money and their aim is to profit. They want to expand the gaming market, not just help out the little developpers. So lets go back to basics (that's role reversal) how does a company make money? Well they offer people a service, a product or something along those lines.. by delivering that product in this society it is exchanged for money, i'll arrange it in an equation to make it simpler. (People + Money) / (Service + Product) = Profit + Consumerism. It's the basis of our capialist society. Now Nintendo needs people, and people with money.. lots of them if they want to "Expand the gaming market" - Iwata TGS 2005. Now last time I checked, nearly every person on this planet (religion permitting) celebrates christmas by spending lots of money on gifts, and food. This drains people's pockets, lots of people cash their credit cards, it's a capitalist goldmine! Now by releasing the console just before the christmas period, In November they will catch many consumers eyes, the media's eyes and they will sell a product. If they want to profit they will charge a premium on the product, and they can onlly charge this premium before christmas, because after christmas everyone has spent money, and they can't afford to make considerably large investments like a computer games console. "Hey mum, can you buy me this Nintendo revolution?" reply: "No you've just had £100 spent on your toys this christmas, wait until your birthday" The same applies for every other console.. they need to get it out before christmas EVERYWHERE. Your point is a good one.. they do want to help out the little developpers and make the games industry less 'exclusive' but you are confusing two different issues. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all make games, games consoles and games services. They are competing, though Nintendo has created an illusion they don't want to.. because they are expanding the games market and catering for them.. by not releasing specs for example. But you are wrong in thinking that Nintendo does not care about how many consoles they sell, perhaps you should do some research by watching this BBC3 documentary here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2687866789001698114&q=nintendo And also be a little less arrogant, perhaps people would listen to you if you spellt things correctly? And to top it all off with a cherry.. Satoru Iwata stated, "We can't disclose the Revolution's release period yet, but we have no plans to miss out on the year-end sales battle. As for North America, we need to release it by Thanksgiving, or otherwise we won't receive support from the retail industry. So the Revolution will be released prior to that period."
  8. There are 3 gamecubes and 1 GBA SP in my town, and 2 DS consoles. Thought the 1st DS was removed for space for the xbox 360. It's not a big town either.. We used to play SSX3, mario golf, f-zero in virgin in our lessons off.
  9. All this speculation is bullshit, until you have sampled both slices of cake nobody is right to comment except nintendo engineers. They say it will make us go "Wow"on a budget, and on a stadard TV or computer monitor, instead of comparing pen0r length. Be happy about that
  10. Nintendo say 2006. Nintend have said they are determined to release 2006 in each publication, and within 14 weeks of each continent. Confirmed November for USA, so theoretically they could have it out in Japan mid September, and stockpile for a November launch in EU and USA. Nintendo worldwide will step in if NOE don't get their act together because after november mums will be christmas shopping, the media will be going PS3 vs. xbox 360 crazy. And they need to get in that market for people.. it really is a cut off point for the average person who can't afford many electronics and will probably be in some debt after christmas.
  11. /me finds it highly unlikely capcom will be willing to scale the engine fomr HD down to SD, however good it looks. it will be a lot of work probably.. and to be frank give the series a better image if they are fully HD studio. Nintendo wont sever their connections with Nintendo but I really don't see RE.5 coming to revolution.. perhaps a spin off, smaller title.. use of the nunchucks and controller as a gun/torch. It's a shame but it's a sacrifice that had to be made.
  12. ULTIMATE EXCLUSIVE NINTENDO REVOLUTION SCREEN OMG 100% REAL GUARANTEED ON LAUNCH.
  13. Nintendo knows Europe is important. They know Europe likes Sony and they like xbox 360 price cuts and halo bundles. They knew Mario Kart needed to be out before Christmas here, and they knew the market warranted some attention.. They know if they don't get the Revolution out by November in Europe for £199 or less they will lose.
  14. The blue barely matches the LEDs, it's not very professional.
  15. Would prefer to use an official accesory unless it cost more than 20% more than the third party accesory (often not the case) for doing the same function. Nintendo already said it's cheap enough so accesories may be bundled with games - donkey konga was their model for this, I think it shipped at like £30 :S
  16. It's VERY hard to say, because by attatching a wire.. you're basically hindering the best part of the console.. and definitely the selling point. It's like putting a metal sheet over the bottom of the DS touchpad so nobody scratches it, when the touchpad is the selling feature. Perhaps it will be staff supervision.. though many game stores are understaffed. The PSP at my game store was under strict supervision, when he told me the price I immediately gave it back to him and said no thanks, I'm not paying £20 to get one of those on launch.
  17. I digg it, looks a lot like the Sony PS2 network play logo.
  18. Dan must have a peg over his nose because he can't smell the shit.
  19. the PSP does have more buzz, and it's ridiculous why. the source of all the buzz is the fucking media hyping it up, despite the shit games.. all the gadget magazines, all the style magazines and all the boys magazines are hyping it like it's the next iPod. that is why it has more buzz. but 'buzz' does not translate into quality gaming, sales, and general value for money. reggie was right to disagree because the argument that was put forward to him had distorted evidence that he is very familiar with. and if he isn't hell what do they pay him for ?
  20. The boys who cried wolf. I would be happy with that.. but there are a lot of Nintendorks running around the internet kicking up a storm about this shit. And they have a lot of time on their hands, so this is why I will take this screenshot with a grain of salt. Did anyone else notice there is no "Back" button.. which is something that should be present in all game menus for easy navigating and navigating using this aparently fake cursor.. I find it hard to believe there would be no Back button, like every game i've seen for DS.
  21. The Z is an extotic edge.. hmm Despite my campaign to keep revolution I would not be disgusted if this was real. Though Nintendo probably releases hundreds of mock ups and things, surely they can leak. Nothing is certain. edit. can you really ® register a squiggle? edit2. i like how the blogger at the above link chose not to include this image which looks much less stylish, far less user friendly which remember nintendo is meant to be going for. and jeez what were they thinking with those fonts? hell it doesn't even look like it works with the controller's wireless pointing. i think it's a very safe assumption that the nintendo title screens will use the nintendo pointer A button to go down a menu and B to go back.. it will show off the controller and allow people to get used to it before they go into a game.
  22. 1. SSX (whole series counts as 1 game)
  23. Thanks for clearing that up, I am not familiar with the proprietary 802.11 flavour they're using, or bluetooth for that matter. I remember seeing a bluetooth remote controlled car and that thing went like the clappers.
  24. How vague, ATI is focused on delivering a chip.. because there's a lucrative amount of money in it for them. This isn't new information.. hell it's not even interesting, sorry. We know ATI are developping a chip called hollywood, we know it will be cheap, we know it wont be as powerful as the xbox 360 or the PS3, we know they still want us to be wowed to the highest degree on a standard television, we know they wont be releasing the specs. edit. EA games are crap IMHO, I think the only one I remember enjoying in the recent future was EA BIG's SSX series.
