  1. I'm not at all interrested in any of the side scrollers Nintendo are churning out for some assinine reason. All I want is for Retro Studios to make something worthwhile. Every day they continue working on Yarn Yoshi, DKCRRR and whatnot is a complete waste of talent and time.
  2. There were "high bits and low bits" in A Link to the Past. Just let this video illustrate the problem: Bridges you can run over AND under, stairs, soft (well, as soft as the N64 can render, it's less powerfull than the Wii U, you know) hills and ridges.
  3. Yeah, but look at that footage! It seems that the camera wants to go to the top-down view by default. And your statement still doesen't affect the fact that the terrain is flat. Hence, while graphics are 3D, gameplay seems to be no more 3D than let's say A Link to the Past. Don't get me wrong, I'm not swearing this game off, in fact I do want to buy it. I'm just saying that in gameplay and immersion terms, this seems a (or maybe ten) step back.
  4. Look at the ground. It's completely flat. Hence 2,5D. Not to mention the zoomed-out camera and isometric view. This was okay in Mario Galaxy, because there was only one analogue stick, but now it's time to go back to Mario 64.
  5. Well, the issue is that this hasn't been officially confirmed. It's speculation that Nintendo did this to easily fill a slot in the release schedule. This may be all we're getting for years and years. While I might buy this, I don't want this, nor do I want another Galaxy. Galaxy was way to linear, which killed any desire to replay any mission. And this game has the issue that you have the top-down view, which kills all immersion. Plus that the levels are too obviously made from tiles. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably get it and play it a lot. But it's not what I'm expecting. It's not an evolution from Mario 64, in terms of gameplay I think it's ten steps back.
  6. I believe in voting with your wallet. I have nothing against this remake per se. I am however against Nintendo doing something similar again. If the next Zelda will be done properly, then no harm done in buying this one.
  7. I guess I'll be the douche who refuses to bury the hatchet, but despite not buying it the first time around, I won't buy this until Nintendo show the true Wii U Zelda. If they do it properly, I'll buy both. If they don't, I won't buy either. I won't go into what I want the next Zelda to be like, I'll just leave it as is so to speak.
  8. In this industry, like all others, money rules all. And Nintendo have LOTS. Nintendo have previously made deals, where second party developers get to make entries in third party franchises. Ridge Racer 64, Metal Gear Solid etc. Or they've gotten third parties to make games that people actually DO want. Pilotwings 64, Metroid Prime, F-Zero GX etc. And then they've invested in cool third party projects, like Geist and Eternal Darkness. Why do Nintendo REFUSE to do that stuff nowadays? Why not have Retro Studios make a Wii U exclusive GTA (like a modern remake of Vice City based on the GTA V engine) or ask someone to make a new Starfox? Why didn't they buy Bizarre Creations when they were about to go bust and then have them make a Wii U exclusive GT-killer?
  9. That's not even funny. It's right up there with making fun of... a bunch of stuff I'm not going to mention, because that would be incomprehensibly offensive.
  10. This was utterly disappointing. The Wii U launch lineup seems tremendous if you compare them. And I'm not going to drop this: she stated it's a water cooler. And I know it was a metaphor, but from where I'm standing, the appeal of the two machines is quite equal.
  11. But... I was looking forward to Ground Zeroes
  12. A minigun? Hope that indicates that this game will be as zaney as Vice City, rather than as serious and GTA4.
  13. I never did play Americas Army. I'd personally say that I'm more interrested in Goldeneye or Hitman 2 with realistic weapon handling.
  14. I disagree. You can make a game WAY more realistic and as a matter of fact make the game more enjoyable. I'm not talking about simulations. I mean, in Goldeneye, helicopters didn't come crashing in to you and you didn't survive falling off a tall building. But it's still a hundredfold better than the CoD singleplayer. And when I go on to say that I find Goldeneye more realistic, you know things are bad! Why is it too much to ask to balance the game so that firing semi automatically is a plausible thing to do? Who decided that full auto is "exciting"? Why can't an attack helicopter be portrayed realistically: that you need a shaped charge to take it out. I mean, if it's too much to ask players to actually have to aim, then give the player a heat seeking stinger. It'll be like Timesplitters, and that's hardly a war simulation, is it? How about this SWEDISH game developer making a game that isn't about american soldiers at all. I mean, look, the french are fighting in Mali without yankee help, you could make a game about them. Espescially considering that the french have unique guns, tanks, planes etc. Same goes for the swedes, wouldn't it be cool to fight russians in a CV90, then have six soldiers with AK5, KSP58 and Pskott pop out? Or the britts, they fought in the Falklands without yankee help. Heck, even Poland make their own tanks and combat vehicles nowadays. CoD isn't exciting! It's found the perfect honeyspot where it's neither as exciting or fun as Perfect Dark or Timesplitters or as realistic as... I was going to say Rainbow Six, but heck, it's not even as realistic as Perfect Dark or Timesplitters. It's just dull, gray, unoriginal and retarded.
  15. Well, DICE have brought my piss to a boil. *Seriously, americans? AGAIN? *Linear corridor shooting? *STILL the game is designed to suit morons who need to fire in full auto to hit anything? *Stupid s**t like having both iron sights AND scopes on your gun? Ever heard of something called rifling? So that if you lean your rifle YOUR BULLET IS GOING TO TURN VIOLENTLY IN WHATEVER DIRECTION YOU'RE LEANING IT! *A seventeen minute trailer that does nothing but spoil the single player campaign? *After TWELVE YEARS of being in Iraq and Afghanistan, resulting in babies being born with organs outside their bodies, numerous coallition casualties and an enormous financial cost that has decimated european military capability of self-defence, and a great blow to america's reputation, don't you think that everyone's SICK AND TIRED of wars taking place in the forking middle east? *Soldiers running around without helmets, hats, berets or ANYTHING on their heads? Not only is it idiotic to not protect your VITAL BIT from shrapnel, it's bad from a camo standpoint! Heck, when I was in the army we had the universal rule of outdoors=covered head, indoors=uncovered head? We were taught that it's even RUDE to do otherwise, and some soldiers were told off for wearing hats indoors while on leave! *The US army sending in a helicopter in to an area where it has a feasible threat (ever heard of "spy satellite", "recon plane" or even "50 dollar snitch"?) and then having the helicopter stay in position after finding out about said threat! What moron planned this assinine operation, because I after 11 months of military training could've done a better job! *Not to mention the completely retarded moments, like surviving an attack helicopter shooting at you when you're in an elevator (ever heard of "fish in a barrel"?), then surviving a helicopter crashing in to you, then surviving to fall through a collapsing building while goons are firing on you, then surviving to fall off a building and have a slab of concrete fall on your helmetless head? And of course, soldiers legs are made of gummibears, so you can cut through it with a small knife with one hand in half a second! *Did I mention hanging out of the door of your car, shooting down an attack helicopter with a high explosive round (of course without getting killed from the shrapnel yourself) without for even a second losing control of your vehicle. *Did I mention that the US is on the verge of financial bancrupcy and are unlikely to start another war? No, DICE! Scrap EVERYTHING, start the fork over! GÖR OM, GÖR RÄTT!
  16. I agree on some things. I'm through and through sick and tired of playing as an american in each and every FPS nowadays. However, the thing that through and through pissed me off about BF3 was that Dice listened to all the CoD-wankers, who first whined about too much recoil in full auto (well, hur durr, if you try AIMING, you might not need to go full auto), then nerfing everything beyond recognition! I mean, I played BF3 from the Beta and onwards. Right after release, the game was PERFECT. I took the recon class, picked one of the sniper rifles, removed the scope, and voila, I had a gun that I could use in the same way I was trained to use it in the army. Then I unlocked the G3 and realised i could fire it in semi-auto. Then a bunch of wankers whined about it, DICE nerfed it, and now I either play on pistols only-servers, or I equip a machine gun with vertical grip and a laser sight. I hope the DICE return to the original balancing with BF4, and introduce non-american forces. As a Swede, I DEMAND this SWEDISH game dev to include the splinter camo uniform and AK5 assault rifle that the swedish armed forces use. Plus a Carl Gustav antitank weapon (it's used by the US armed forces for pete's sake!), CV90 and Leopard 2 tank would be nice.
  17. Despite this seemingly being a decent kart racer, I can't help but wonder: WHY?
  18. When I saw the trailer for this, it seemed a bit fanficky. And when I heard about the party, I thought even more so. But a major draw of Mass Effect is the characters, and I definitely want to see them interact with each other way more.
  19. Smash Bros vs Disney :P Nowadays they own both Marvel and Star Wars. Imagine Iron Man vs Samus vs Darth Vader vs Mickey Mouse XD
  20. Odd, espescially considering that BW said that we haven't seen the last of ME on the Wii U. But neither surprising or new. We've known this since the Leviathan DLC. I wonder if that reference to ME3 not being the last Wii U ME is a reference to a later release of the Trilogy pack, or if they're talking about ME4 or perhaps even... Retro Studios remake of ME1! Yes, I know I've pulled that ME1 remake out of my butt, but wouldn't that be amazing? ME1 with upped visual, improved gameplay (espescially the MAKO sequences) and some extra content... like extra missions and a Varia Suit. Or better yet: Samus as a Squad Mate!
  21. I really hope that they'll do something about the flight mechanics in SR4. Normaly, I love flying in games, but in SR2+3, it felt really broken. Planes behaved in strange ways, guns only fired remotely in the direction you want them to and the draw distance is awful.
  22. I just played Skyward Sword and I reached
  23. Great to see someone putting propper effort in to a Wii U port. Not sure if I'll pick this one up, though, the last NFS I bought was Carbon, for the Wii launch.
  24. This game seems completely brilliant! A few more tracks and cars would be nice, but considering it's supposed to be a 90's inspired game, I think there'll be a bunch of unlockable stuff. Perhaps through cheat codes I love how he's chosen to emulate both Daytona USA and Scud Race, two awesome, classic Sega racing games. Hope someone will convince him to have a car that emulates Sega Rally. And of course, in that case, the car he should pick is obviously the awesome little Lancia Delta: This might be my first non-VC download for a Nintendo system. Are you serious? Yes, this game is MORE colourful and has more extravagant track decorations than the average racing game. But can you seriously look at Forza 4 and say that it has no colours: Or look at Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit:
  25. Recently it seems quite popular to make crossovers. So I was wondering what crossovers you'd like to see. Nintendo x Mass Effect A crossover between Zelda, Metroid, Starfox, and Mass Effect. Yes, I know, it wouldn't make much sense, but bear with me on this. The combat system works in two distinct modes. When you're firing arrows or guns, you see the game over the shoulder, while when you use melee weapons, you have a more free moving camera, like in Zelda. You travel through open worlds, like in Zelda or the first ME. And there's space flight missions where you control an Arwing... and maybe the Normandy. You walk around with a squad following you around and helping you out. Sometimes taking care of combat, sometimes solving puzzles. The story? Well, perhaps there's a new threat in the Mass Effect universe (perhaps whoever created the Reapers), and the Alliance has found a Mass Relay that sends you beyond dark space, in to completely different galaxies. Desperately you seek contact with foreign, unknown civilizations for help.
