I mean severe slowdown - I'm on a 2.2MB connection, and downloading games trailers etc. drops to about 30kb/sec, watching stuff on gamevideos is impossible because they stutter horribly. Web pages load up alright though - bit slower than usual, but not too bad. I've been doing spyware, adware and virus scans, getting rid of all that sort of stuff, but it hasn't had an effect. (by the way I use FF) I'm going to rip my toes off with pliers in frustration. Someone please help me.

We've some reporters down in Oxford Street for the Charles Martinet event in GAME, and we're getting an interview with the voice of Mario himself very soon. We've some time to spare before the Londoners hit him with questions, so feel free to post your own suggestions here, and we'll see about using some of them! : peace:

Sorry for the delay guys, we were busy with the name change and various other things - but the new podcast is up for your listening pleasure on the site. Send your browers to http://www.n-europe.com/media/podcast/podcast4.mp3 good folks. There are a few annoying audio ticks in it, we'll try and cut down on them next time, which should be in the normal two weeks schedule. The Hot Topic in question on the show was about the big release list we have ahead of us. In the mass of q3/q4 games coming on the Wii, DS, Gamecube (well... there's Paper Mario) and the GBA (if you're still into that sort of thing) we want to know what's top of your buying list for the upcoming release frenzy? Don't start listing everything, we'll be here all night. Let us know what you're interested in folks!

Cheers for the input guys, new podcast is up and listenable - avec a new name!

Woah... finally. Sorry for the delay with the 'big secret' (ended up not being too big a secret to be honest), but we had a few problems - at least now they've been resolved and we could go ahead with the change. You'll find a fuller explanation on the front page, but for the meantime I want to say cheers for sticking with the RE boards (terribly outdated name and all), and we hope you stay around for N-Europe's lifetime. We're going over everything on the site to update it for the new name, but if you've spotted something that needs changed don't hesitate to drop me a PM. Cheers, lads and ladies.

Woohoo, new podcast is up - http://www.revo-europe.com/media/podcast/podcast3.mp3 I know the xml code for subscribing is broke, we're trying to fix it. It's quite annoying, believe me. Anyway, we talked on the podcast about what our favourite gaming memories are, so now we'd like to throw it open to you guys. So what are your favourite gaming memories? First steps in Mario 64? Multiplayer in Goldeneye? Whatever it is you won't forget, let us know! Cheers guys.

http://www.buygamers.com/ Has anyone seen it? I saw a review at EInsiders, and was interested. A mockumentary satirising the D&D diehard - has some potential I guess, not many measured comic portrayals of gaming nerd on film. Anyone ordered it and dis/liked it?

It's 25. Surely it's that simple. The people that phone into these things are idiots.

I saw it in the shops and was tempted... but a fiver? Hmm. I'll probably get it for olds times' sake. NGC was king of my adolescent games reading.

Birthday Threads (ie Pimp Your Birthday Thread)
Conor_NE replied to Ashley's topic in General Chit Chat
Bloody hell, I have my own thread! Such ego stroking pleases me. -
Abrams is probably overrated, but I do think there's some quality in him. Lost is an awesome concept - unfortunately the writers have ruined the show with a ridiculous and convoluted plot. Eventually people will waken up to it. Mark my words! MI:3 had a cool slickness to it, even if it was pretty limp overall. Anyway, it's Star Trek. So I really don't care. Onto Spider-Man 3... man it's going to be awesome. Best superhero film ever??? God, possibly. Venom on screen is a fucking fanboy dream come true. I'm not tired of superhero films, but I am tired of crap superhero films. There's a lot of shite about, but some gems. Oh, and Batman IS a superhero. Superhero-ism isn't about powers or anything boringly technically like that, it's a question of style, of presentation. Batman has more than enough grand heroics and fantasy slants to be worth the title.

Birthday Threads (ie Pimp Your Birthday Thread)
Conor_NE replied to Ashley's topic in General Chit Chat
It's well over midnight, so it's official. I am officially 20 years old. My adolesence is gone, fluttered away. A life of mortgages, waiting in line for forms, complaining about the music kids listen to, the 9-to-5 and waxing nostalgically about my childhood days. *sniff* I need a hug. -
Cheers for the imput on the last thread guys, the new podcast is up on the website - http://www.revo-europe.com/media/podcast/podcast2.mp3 We threw out a new Hot Topic during the show, we want your imput on it. Here goes... What are your earliest gaming memories? Can you remember your first console? First game? Delve as far back as you can, we'll be airing some of the posts in the next edition of the podcast.

Remember in March when we did a thread asking for your views on games journalism for the RE podcast's first Hot Topic? Yeah, we've been kinda busy, but finally got around to airing some of those views on our first podcast (you haven't heard? go to http://www.revo-europe.com/special.php?sid=media#podcasts), so we didn't completely forget about those. It's time for a new Hot Topic then, expect to see your comments and our views up much sooner than last time (about a fortnight's time we expect). There's not big news I can draw discussion points from at the moment, but I did nothing New Super Mario Bros. at the top spot on the charts, so on a semi-related note we can to know... Q. What is the best Mario platformer, ever? The NES perfection that is SMB3? The jazzy, expansive Super Mario World? The 3d glory of Mario 64? The mud-cleaning, er, thrills of Sunshine? Let us know!
-
hey all, Being hip and modern and with the times, we're planning to host a regular RE podcast soon. That's amazing in itself - even more fabulous is that we want you guys to get involved. Every edition will have a 'Hot Topic' discussed by staffers involved, and we want to get your opinion on it beforehand. Read some forumers views out 'on air', give some comments, that sort of thing. The first topic was inspired by the idea that we can have a podcast in the first place, while print-based games journalism like magazines cannot. We can do so much that they can't - it's the digital era now, print's on the way out...or is it? Comment away! Q. Does the seemingly unstoppable rise of the internet, and the technology available to online games journalists, mean that games magazines will become a thing of the past? And would that be a good thing?

Planet X is kicking all sorts of ass. "You and me Jeannie. You and me in a blaze of glory." Morrison's Magneto is ruddy crazy.

Well done indeed Sprout. Time to complete the archive on the site. Merry Xmas to all!

I'm heading to Queens University in Belfast, to do English with modules in Film Studies and Politics. Heading down during the week (well, if I can get a substitute PC sorted by then - don't wanna leave RE in the lurch!), and lectures start next Monday. Looking forward to it - although I've only met like two people who are staying in my halls. They were dead on, though, so hopefully I'll be alright. If anyone's heading to Elms Village at Queens give me a shout!

seeing as the name revolution has been dropped...
Conor_NE replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think Revolution Europe is still a good name, even if the console is named differently. .... God I'm a terrible liar. -
No doubt in a matter of hours the forums will explode with shock/delight/tears at what Mr. Iwata does (or does not) reveal about the Revo during his upcoming keynote speech at TGS. Just to keep everything together, I think we should use this thread for keynote discussion. We've a while to go yet, so post away your expectations/hopes! Should be an interesting thread me thinks.
